    Just want to add information:
    The kagerou daze time loop is different from the time loop Mary caused. The kagerou daze loop is in a "pocket dimension" and it can't be controlled. Mary's time loop is in the real world and it was by her own volition.
    Basically there's a time loop within a time loop in the Kagerou Project. I'm glad you're covering the series albeit briefly ^^

    • @udinchwan
      @udinchwan  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      ahh..so it different.. i was trying so hard to make sense of the timeloop and i thought the only one capable of doing that is marry, but also, even if she did it, i can't find the reason why because in the real world she was doing it to be with her friends again, so like....what was the reason for the timeloop on the kagerou daze?? i was so confused😭😭 lol turns out there's another reason!! tysm for telling me!!

    • @AmeAnimations12
      @AmeAnimations12 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@udinchwan More info to add bc I just figured it out: The reason why the Kagerou Daze loop is the way it is is because it was the last command given by Azami before she transferred her powers as Queen Snake. It was something along the lines of "Take those two and bring them into this world" which happened when Mary and Shion were beaten to death. So when the powers got transferred and Mary left the Daze, the Daze just kept following that command.
      The command became a rule to get into the Kagerou Daze: 2 people must die at the same time on Aug 14/15
      I'm so sorry for rambling so much I just love the Kagerou Project

      Oh dear god please don't watch the anime first its kinda bad😭
      More importantly it's a sequel to the novels, so maybe read those first.
      Even if it just seems like the same story told differently, there really is a chronological order.
      Personally I'd recommend novels > manga > anime. (Manga is technically a prequel to the novels but doesn't make much sense without the context of the novels.)

    Request: doting by balloon it’s been my favorite vocaloid song for years now and no one has done an analysis on it since it was never really popular(?) but I think it’s a story about two lovers growing apart and at the end of the song partner #1 (miku) is complaining to partner #2 (flower) that flower does a thing that miku does not like? and miku at the end of the song finally gets why flower is doing this thing?? I don’t know what the thing is as the lyrics on it are a bit vague but that’s all I know and it would make my day if you made an analysis on it
    edit: I did a bit more analysis and I think the thing flower is doing is cheating? Because the way flower explains it she acts like she’s hiding something but miku knows and flower dosen’t know she does? Also, I’m pretty sure miku is the female in the relationship and flower is the male but it could be interpreted any way.

    You have a lot of really sharp analysis on your channel, which I absolutely love to see in the vocalosphere. I think you're really cool. Also, the Kagerou Project is kind of hard to understand the fundamentals of, and I would never fault someone for not really getting it right out of the gate. This also isn't meant to be insulting. That said, here is a quick list of inaccuracies in this video, off the top of my head
    1. Mekakucity Actors is *not* a standalone adaptation, nor is it an adaptation at all. The Kagerou Project is a mixed media series that is told through a combination of songs, a manga, light novels, *and* an anime, specifically meant to be viewed in that order-though you probably won't have a terrible experience switching the manga and light novels in your read order. The Kagerou Project is a time loop story, and each different medium non linearly shares the story of a different timeline, or sometimes multiple. Once again, you can play around with watch order and still be okay, so long as you watch the anime last. However, all different mediums are required to fully understand the plot. The anime is *not*, under any circumstances, to be viewed as a standalone story, or even just an entry level kagepro story. It contains the official ending.
    1.5. Less of a correction and more of an addendum, but Hibiya and Hiyori are only childhood friends in some timelines. The song routes happen to be one of those timelines (so again, you're not wrong), but I have no memory of, for instance, there being any evidence of this in the light novels.
    2. It is very, very likely, if not absolutely the case, that Hibiya and Hiyori were both hit by the truck at first. The entire song Kagerou Days, and it's many retellings, take place entirely in the pocket dimension, the Kagerou Daze itself (mind the wordplay). The requirements for entering the daze, assuming you do not have a fully activated medusa handy, are to die on August 15th. Typically people die and enter in pairs, but this is more of a trend than a hard requirement. The only way to escape the daze, and miraculously come back to life, is to resonate with a snake (sometimes referred to as snake powers or eye powers), but only certain people can resonate with certain snakes. Once again, the general trend is for only one person to escape, largely for thematic and metaphorical reasons, but this is not a hard and fast rule. You already go over most of these things in the video, but it's worth repeating to prove what's happening here. The greater timeloop that these character are caught in, on a macro level, resets the world from the very beginning of time; we know this because there are slight differences between routes, even in the distant past. Hibiya and Hiyori's timeloop only encompasses one (or maybe two?) days, so therefore they *must* be separate affairs. This is because time is kind of not real in the Kagerou Daze, and for the average visitor, it manifests as a surreal torture maze, typically somehow involved with that person's "death". This is why the anime version of events is so stylistically strong. The anime in general loves it's strong directorial decisions and magical realism, which I think rocks, but it's much stronger here than it is in most scenes, and this is why. So no, Hibiya did not watch Hiyori die without also dying-at least not initially. He certainly did it plenty in the daze. This isn't to say I think the specifics of their particular tragedy are what really matter, but whatever.
    3. Whether or not the "heat haze guy sneering at him" is even a real canonical entity is kind of up for debate. The music video you have pulled up is Wannyanpuu's fan made PV. The original is by Shidu, and is far more bare bones. Wannyanpuu was later accepted into the Kagerou Project's team, and every other PV she handled should be treated as official, but this one is sort of in a gray area. Wannyanpuu had a specific plot in mind for this music video, that she recently told a friend of mine about on Twitter upon being questioned, and I won't explain it here for brevity's sake, but it's way different than the canon story. This is also why Hiyori looks so different here; it's because she didn't have an official design yet. The original music video leaves the "sneering heat haze" up to the imagination. The original Japanese wording is "ワザとらしい陽炎が「夢じゃないぞ」って嗤ってる" which I'm like ninety percent sure you could interpret as just being metaphorical. This isn't to say I completely reject interpreting it as being an entity, just thought it was worth commenting on.
    3.5. I think it is extremely high praise to say the anime is really good when it's, like, your only exposure to the Kagerou Project. It probably would have killed me if I watched it first. I mean, I'm happy for you, I guess?
    4. This is a bit nitpicky, but Azami was a name given to her by Tsukihiko, as she previously did not have one, and it's not exactly right to call her that pre-Tsukihiko when telling her story fairy tale style.
    5. Once again, more of an addendum than a correction, but in the light novels (and I believe the manga) we learn that Azami received more than just endless scorn, even though that was the primary response to her. She was also honored as a god, at one point, but she still found this unsatisfying, because it was still dehumanization, just in the opposite direction
    6. While Shion isn't immortal, and Azami would certainly outlive her without interference, Shion has a significantly longer life span than the average human, and it sits with me wrong to call her "mortal".
    7. Shion was also compatible with the queen snake, but gave herself up to save Marry. This is confirmed in Light Novel 7.
    8. Revisiting my original point about how Marry's timeloop and the Kagerou Days timeloop are separate affairs, Marry causing the Kagerou Days timeloop would not be physically *possible* for her at the time it took place. Marry needs not only the queen snake, but most of if not all of the other snakes in one place, to make full use of her medusa abilities and do something as drastic as control time. The queen snake is more of a uniting and amplifying device than something very powerful on it's own. The other snakes automatically return to her when their bearer dies, due to her holding the queen snake, but this also requires all of the snakes to be out of the daze and for all of their bearers to die (again). Hibiya and Hiyori's timeloop is what gives Hibiya, and in some timelines, Hiyori, their snake in the first place. If it wasn't even out of the daze and with him before this, then it certainly wasn't with Marry, who, mind, would need to absorb the rest of the cast's snakes to get anywhere, even if she does have a little leeway (for example, she can still reset time if she is only missing one or two). This is actually the entire reason for Hibiya and Hiyori's deaths from a Watsonian perspective (from a Doylist perspective it's a perfect encapsulation of the themes of the project but not my point). The Snake of Clearing Eyes is known to have orchestrated their deaths at least in some timelines, just so he could get one of the last snakes out and returned to Marry, thus keeping them stuck in the timeloop. The manga explores his motivations for doing this.
    9. Revisiting my earlier point about how the "heat haze guy" isn't even really a canon character, it *certainly* isn't main villain Snake of Clearing Eyes. Even if he is a sentient snake, and a very conniving one, he is still one of Azami's snakes, and can only leave the daze through traditional methods. He leaves with Kenjirou Tateyama, and while he can "possess" him, and body snatch other people, he cannot freely come and go from the daze without a human.
    I think flat explanation of the mechanics is kind of boring in comparison to a more in depth look at what the story is about so sorry if this was a total drag. Anime lore specifics is not my specialty. Seriously valiant effort though I've been thinking about this since like 2021 and this has a shocking amount of correct information for a video from an anime only. salutes u

      I'm gonna have to heavily but respectfully disagree with your 6th point. While yes, it is true that Shion will outlive many human lifetimes, she is still mortal because eventually, she will die of old age. She cannot live forever unlike Azami because she is half human. It really undermines Azami's whole point of creating the Heat Haze by saying that in my opinion, which her reasoning was that she wanted to avoid mortality with her family. She spent many, MANY years all alone and shunned from the world, and she knew that Tsukihiko would definitely die from old age in the blink of an eye (from her point of view), but that Shion too would eventually meet the same end as her father. To avoid being left all alone in a world she knew was quite cruel, she creates the Heat Haze under the guise of the Clearing Eyes. It is why the Heat Haze does not follow time really, at all, because it was supposed to be a world that all three of them could live in forever, without fear of death plaguing the human and half-human souls she has in her life.
      Of course, the Heat Haze was also a plan the Clearing Eyes had to eventually susurp Azami, but even still. Azami's will to not see the two people she cared about the most die from their mortality, their impending, looming demise is what fuels the creation of the Heat Haze. Even Marry, though she may outlive at least two human lifetimes as part medusa, will eventually die like any other human as well. All three of them are mortals, even if Azami's descendants may outlive typical human lifetimes, it is still right and accurate to describe them as mortal. To save them all from their own mortality, it was the sacrifice Azami needed to make.

    • @nocteratea77
      @nocteratea77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @GaomonAndLucario I actually don't fundamentally disagree with anything you're saying here. I do think Shion is mortal in the sense that she *can* die, and would die before Azami, and I mentioned that I think both of these things in my original comment. So yes, Shion is mortal in the literal sense, in that she can die. I just wanted to clarify that she's not "just a normal human", and neither is Marry. If I remember correctly, in the novels, Marry says that 100 summers passed after her mother's death (?), and after that, she "stopped counting". I think the only thing we're really disagreeing on here is some semantics. Thanks for the reply, though! :)
