There's a new way that's similar to the intended way to crash Windows, but it requires support for the long power button hold system. Basically, if you're trying to force a shutdown using the power button, Windows generates a crash dump before shutting down. The black screen shown tells you to release the power button as Windows collects error info.

On some old NT versions, you could crash it from a cmd console by doing a dir listing of a big directory (system32 would usually suffice) and then rapidly hit a certain function key which brought up a small command history box and repeat the dir. Just doing this a few times would buffer enough dir listings and easily crash NT 3.51 or 4.0, depending on service packs.
The double Control-Scroll Lock registry requires at least Windows 2000. I’ve worked at places where they’d deliberately enable this on some servers so they could force a reboot when some servers would hang and then be able to capture enough debug info to diagnose it later.

I had the blue screen of death a few days ago. Just happened at random. I just was on internet and suddenly the blue screen of death. I tried everthing to fix it but it failed. Command prompt didn't reconize the codes to fix. Also for some reason that toshiba laptop had put my keys on Querty instead of Azerty. I also tried setting it back to fabric settings and also tried all the other settings but there was some kind of security wall that I couldn't get passed.
I opened up my pc at the back accidently breaking the lit were the battery goes. Then accidently broke the protection around my hard drive when I took it out so my hard drive can't be put back in that laptop. The toshiba satelite pro was atleast 5 or 6 years old.
I also tried putting in my windows 8.1 installation CD but that didn't fixed the error and also when I tried putting my windows 7 disk in it it didn't work.
When I was with a friend who tried to help me my screen started to act weird. At some point there was a white screen full with squares on it.
I decided to safe my hard drive and my CD station from it and my friend will despose of the broken laptop later for me.
I then went to the a computer store and ordered a new gaming laptop which is a HP which I will get soon.
Now I'm getting problems with my docking station which refuses to read itself on my second mini laptop. And both my USB hubs are slowly failing aswell because some USB ports don't work anymore.
I'm planning to buy 2 new USB hubs soon and maybe a new hard drive docking station incase that the one I'm trying to use now is broken.

2:05 It asks to be runned because it technically still runs if you edit it. Usually you would run it with regedit.exe (I believe) but this time you do with notepad.exe. That is happening because a .reg file isn't an executable itself.

    • @FlyTechVideos
      @FlyTechVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It does not run if you edit it. That's precisely the difference - you are just looking at the source, but the source is not executed. On the other hand, you can run the code, but then you are not looking at it.

@@2f510 It's not about the definition of "run", it's because the file was downloaded, so Windows flagged its alternate-data-stream with a ZoneIdentifier that causes Windows to always warn no matter what kind of access you do. The problem is that Windows uses a single dialog-box for it no matter what action is being performed, which leads to confusion if you weren't trying to run it. You can click [Unblock] in the Properties dialog to stop it.

it attemps to open a critical process, wininit again and then either when it ends due to an error it ends the other one OR windows is made to bsod when a critical process is closed, in that case the other wininit you opened.

3:42 About these different error codes, for example today a bit after updating I got the "inaccessible boot device" error, which means Windows was unable to start up as I understand. The thing is that the message was just like "Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you". No mention of collecting info, just like in this video. I guess that's because Windows didn't even get to properly start up and could not write the dump file or something.
Also no, I'm not stuck in a boot loop. The startup repair fixed the error and my computer seems to be running alright now.

-use teamviewer on an AMD machine to remote control it
-you will BSOD within a minute
Before I upgraded my CPU, I also found a very consistent way to BSOD, although it doesn't work with my new CPU.
