What a fantastic singer! The timbre is wonderful (reminiscent of young Gheorghiu's in my opinion), the singing technique is amazing, the musicality is refined and elegant, the attention to the details of the score is impeccable, the expressiveness is effective and tasteful. A real artists who owes nothing to some great divas from previous generations!
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has thought of Gheorghiu when listening to Lisette, but only as far as the middle range goes. When she goes towards the high notes, she's in a class all of her own. I discovered this great artist with the YT transmission of Lucia from Madrid. I honestly did not think Lucia could be sung like that nowadays. And this interpretation of Robert is just to die for. I've had the chance to see her live in Les Huguenots & L'Elisir in Paris, where she simply mesmerised the audience with exactly what you cited : impeccable technique, attention to details and a refined style that oozes musicality.
One of the best if not the best singer of our time. Beautiful timbre, wonderful technique and phrasing in the same level of the greatest of the past. We're glad to know that there is still this high level of singing nowadays! Congratulations!
Lovely and sensitive, she moves smoothly and skillfully through the registers, making the most of her breath. Such voices don't come to us everyday, and she has many gifts. Will she wisely avoid the heavier repertory, and resist temptation? If she does so, and guards her middle voice, she will be singing beautifully for many years.
Pure and moving, delicate and ardent, breathtaking and utterly beautiful! A rare combination of eloquent tasteful phrasing, profound musicianship, style and great class! A light of hope coming from golden past decades to our sinister and uninspired actual operatic world!
Sooo agree! And I think its amazing how many people recognize Lisette's art as being "a light of hope from a golden past"! It is sooo true! And very noticeable! BRAVA, Lisette!
A-MA-ZING ! I can't wait hearing the whole role in Bruxelles this sping!!! Since her Lucia in Madrid (on the air) and her astonished Marguerite in Les Huguenots in Paris, I'm a absolute fan. Thank you so much Ms. Oropesa to sing how you do!
Gorgeous aria, flawlessly sung by Lisette Oropesa, one of today's very finest sopranos. Why this aria (and this opera) are not heard more often is beyond me. Brava!!
Lisette, you kidnapped my heart!!! If I was sent in a one-way space mission, and could take only a few of my favorite arias, I'm sure, without thinking, take "Robert, toi que j’aime" by Lisette Oropesa. I heard Lisette for the first time thanks to the "Lucia di Lammermoor" broadcast from Teatro Real Madrid. Her singing sometimes took my breath away. I will never forget that "Regnava nel Silenzio" and those over three minutes of furious applause. I saw something like that for the first time and regret that I'm not there in the audience. Beyond the stage, I take her as a beautiful, joyful girl, who likes running, loving people, finding strength and time to answer twitts with humor and wit. But I know that it is only a modern costume under which is the purest 19th century diva.
I commented on your FB post with this video, but I can't resist mentioning how that stunning Austin Scarlet gown lets us all see how relaxed your shoulders are. I keep returning to this particularly stunning rendition. I already commented on it a while back, so I will not add to my words then except to say that few, all-too-few voices are capable of raising the hairs at the end of my neck and then bring me to tears with the inexplicable yearning that only absolute beauty is capable of producing, like her voice always does, especially in this poignant aria, sheer feeling transformed into a masterpiece of musical art. If I may paraphrase an earlier commentator, "I think we ALL have fallen in love..."

Sublime, indeed. The ease of the voice, the elegant phrasing. Only GREAT singers can manipulate their vibrato to emanate a specific emotion. Nothing here sounds difficult or manufactured. French diction is perfection. I believe this is the last piece of the recital, where most singers would just show off to dazzle. Lisette masterfully and elegantly shows glorious technique, restraint and measured singing. Most impressive, in my opinion, is her gorgeous middle. Legendary.
One of the truly most extraordinary accomplishments here is that you can understand every single word; the same can unfortunately not be said even for many french singers; what a pleasure to have such a wonderful artist interpret french works.
Lisette, I didn't think that it could get any better than this... Then I heard it live with orchestra. I'm coming to this video to try and recapture the moment!!! You're such an inspiration and I'm so glad to know you!!
Just incomparable. An extraordinary artist with supreme interpretive abilities. But the quality of this voice is better than anyone alive (excepting Ms. Price, long may she live). Miss Lisette, you have the diamond, radiant upper register of Dame Sutherland as well as the dark magnificence of Callas's lower register. Truly a spectacular performance.
Lohengrin O thank you very much! A friend encouraged me to learn this aria for an encore, and it led to me having a lot of Meyerbeer in my life over the past year!
I am not an expert on your Voice (yet!) but Meyerbeer suits you enormously and Sutherland fans already are crazy with you... take good care of the rare Diamond you have inside your throat
@@LohengrinO haha I'm not an expert on it either! It's an evolution, you know? New things surface as new roles come up, and I am constantly working on technique and all that fun stuff. It's challenging singing Meyerbeer, as you can imagine, and I've had a good bit of it this season with Huguenots and Robert le diable. Of course NO ONE can or ever will live up to Sutherland (or any of the greats!) but we mortals all do our best with our limited abilities to do the music justice so that opera continues to be presented to the world.
@@LisetteOropesaSoprano Voice is a living Organism separate from the singer who uses it... like a Divine Entity... it is excruciatingly difficult to learn use it really well and even more difficult to adjust to it constantly as it changes with time (that is why Callas used to say: when I get onstage I get possessed by the voice of a great singer I only hope I will be able to control). Opera will never die no matter how hard it rains and storms upon it... it is the product of combined Geniuses full of Heart and Spirit, a form of High Art... and as long as singers like you and Marina keep appearing (and they will) its flame gets constantly revitalized
@@LohengrinO It's so nice to read your point of view, you are so passionate about it! It's really inspiring. And I also love Marina and think she is a goddess. As for other coloraturas I admire greatly, have you heard Jessica Pratt? I have tickets to her La Scala recital. Can't wait as I always learn a lot from her.

Absolutely gorgeous Lisette. I didn’t know I could have a favorite but I do believe this is my absolute favorite aria I’ve heard you sing. Bravissima cómo siempre 😘💐
Just came across a post on the opera Facebook page where you were singing the siempre libera from Traviata at a casting party. I was like, wow! I need to hear more. And now I am completely taken by your voice and your wonderful character. Many happy returns and best wishes all the way from Gibraltar. Blessings.
Fantastic, cosmic singer! Such beautiful appearence, such ideal voice! Upon seeing and hearing You, dear Lisette, it is impossible not to become your fan forever.
I have only recently become aware of this wonderfully gifted singer, regardless of voice classification. Brilliant execution is only the beginning of the listening experience provided by Lisette Oropesa. The limpid quality of the voice itself is fresh air at its most purified level. I have commented on this quality elsewhere on her TH-cam recordings. Perfect tonality, remarkably easy production throughout her entire vocal range all add to this marvelous artist's stature. Oh by the way! Let us not forget her sensitive interpretations and ability to communicate with her audience. Experience will only amplify the traits I have already commented about. Did I say, Brava? Of course!
When I first began listening to opera few, if any studio recordings, I learned later, were then available regarding this phenomenal singer & it was not until shortly before her death that I had heard of her at all. Fortunately much more of her great singing is now available much of it from live performances. A complete TURANDOT is now available with a warmth of timbre that not even Nilsson can match. Here she is in superb form & 2 other selections I would also recommend for those interested who may not have yet heard her. One is the famous Von Weber aria OZEAN, DU UNGEHEUER from OBERON & the sublimely beautiful soprano aria: ROBERT! ROBERT! MEIN GELIEBTER from Meyerbeer‘s ROBERT LE DIABLE. Finally this wonderful singer is becoming even better known & both of these arias can be found on You tube as well as on an aria album, hopefully still available, by way of the MYTOS label.
An absolutely beautiful voice. The singing here is just perfection! I think it’s time to give Lisette a name, in the style of La Stupenda, La Divina.... I think, ‘La Perfecta’!
This is so beautifully sung and moving! I'm grateful to have found about a new and exciting artist. Thank you for sharing this interesting and so seldom sung repertoire. I also have to say I was very impressed by your amazingly clear diction - I understood every word you sung!! Most native French speakers can't achieve this when they sing. It's such a pleasure to enjoy the words and the music at the same time (for real, I've heard plenty of French songs recitals and no one comes close to you in this regard, save for Marc Mauillon). I'm excited to catch up on the culturebox broadcast of Les Huguenots tomorrow!

Very beautiful. Great artist. I hope she doesn't go into bigger repertoire... this is absolutely perfect for her!
Great perfomance 🎉👏
so authentic
works from such a calm place. great breath control which epitomises her beautiful expressive virtuosity
I vote for "La Sublime" since that's what was yelled out by an audience member during her Lucia performance in Madrid! :)
We're so glad to hear you here! Bravi!!!
Pedro Fernando thank you so much! I hope to visit Brasil very soon!
Sublime. Singing of the highest calibre.
Mélina Perlein-Féliers I’m so appreciative of this comment! See you tonight! (Well, sort of!)
Sublime that's all.
Mucha finura! Que tecnica...
GLORIOUS
Maestro, Vlad~~~!!! I didn't know it's you until the end of this.. She is so special!! Her artistry!! #ThatIntensity that's another level on top of that perfect technique! Bravi tutti!!!! !! I love this aria .. sssssso beautiful T.T Such an exquisite performance! She looks totally relaxed the whole time singing this challenging aria... wow again!!
Quelle ligne de chant ! Quelle voix ! L'instinct.
Mme Oropesa est aune artiste radieuse : "LA RADIOSA" ! r e s p e c t ★☆★
Merci beaucoup, c’est trop gentil!!
She is absolutely fantastic ! To me, this is the most brilliant "revelation" Soprano in latest years since Diana Damrau.
I´m keen to see Her next July ´18 at Madrid....Muchas Gracias, Lisette.
Muchas gracias a usted!! I'm so touched that you took the time to watch my video and leave this really sweet comment. It is very much appreciated. I do hope that you will come to Madrid and see Lucia!! Un abrazo y muchisimas gracias!!
Hi Lisette. I´m totally honoured & flatted reg. your unexpected answer. Anyway, my comment is not sweet : I´m just telling a cold fact. You "broke" latest seasons all places where You´ve been ( Paris, Amsterdam, Covent Garden, etc, etc... ) with your sublime Art. :- ) ) . Un abrazo , Musa.

I almost cry! Beautiful, so deeply moving and true! Lisette, in art of singing you are great successor of Divina Maria Callas, you both really understand art of bel canto. I adore you 🤩
