    5am, TH-cam, found a happy incident with a Chinese dude standing-in for a tenor's part in Lisette's performance in Parma, and here I am listening to a black guy singing with such a beautiful voice even my metal-infused heart gave in. I can't afford to listen to real opera, but I'm glad there's this video I can enjoy. Thank you!

    I want to comment again as I keep going back to this video and to Alex's part. It makes me want to start singing again, having myself lapsed. Alex, there is something so natural about your singing; obviously this aria fits you beautifully but your lush complex tone; your free, open, and yet technically supported and controlled delivery; and it all seems to come from the same place (maybe it's the placement of this aria). Such generous singing, you put yourself in it! - thank you. :) And you are obviously a nice person too, I hope you go far, and I shall be looking out for your performances :)

    A Mozartean accompagnato is a very special animal, often more interesting than the aria proper. Each of the orchestral motifs and gestures has a meaning, sometimes multiple meanings, expressing and seconding the sung text but also hinting at the character's underlying feelings, which are NOT sung. It was marvelous to watch Miss Oropesa working so hard with the singer on Ferrando's recitative, such a tricky proposition.

    I get the feeling that the voices need more technical guidance than "empty talk" on how to sing from your heart to the public. I've heard really constricted tenor voice. Sounds equal, yes, equally constricted when it can sound big and clear. Sometimes I wonder if those singers listen to the old ones. I can't be thanked with my voice lacking core and chest notes. It scratches my years. Listen to Giovanni Malipiero singing e lucevan le stele. He was a lyric tenor.

    • @clefnoteproductions6695
      @clefnoteproductions6695 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Just keep in mind that you can't correct much technique issues in 20 minutes. You can comment on them or bring attention to it so that they can then go back to their teachers. Although if their mask singing rather then open throat pure vowel and body engagement little is likely to change with technique

    I would prefer that this aria from this tenor would sound like he did the cadenza. Most of what he did before left me feeling frankly rather cold. That is what is needed. Too much is not enough...a good deal of what he did is just over that edge and as such is too much.
