The best lyric coloratura soprano today (IMHO). How this aria fits the singer (never heard a better performance). In her voice there is virtuosity and drama. Bravissima, Lisette !!!
BRAVISSIMA!!!!!!! Oh, that singing is so luminous, so joyous even in sadness! and so melodious! And the coloratura so musical without giving up any on precision, so that instead of it being a machine to play staccato notes it serves the dramatic purpose in the music!!!!! What joy to hear something new by you, prima donna assoluta! Oh, those mordenti, how sweeeeeeeeeeet....!!!!! What a privilege to have you among us this generation!!!! Thank you!!!!
She was officiously awarded that "title" ("Best female singer of 2022") by the Opera Awards this year. A wonderful singer, technician, artist, human being, all in the same person ! It's so rare.
Truly the voice of an international opera super star!!!! The orchestra and conducting were fantastic. So nice to see the players enjoying the performance as well. And...their appreciation really counts for a whole lot!!!
I got to see the prima of this opera at La Scala, and she was really extraordinary. Perhaps on the light side for Verdi, but what a deep sense of musicality and a charismatic, well-equipped voice! Reminds reminds me of a young Renata Scotto in bel canto. The broadcast of her (Oropesa’s) Lucia from Madrid is also the most accomplished performance of the role since Sills. It is really nice to see her finally get her due after all these years.
On the light side for Verdi...well, not all Verdi soprano roles are the same weight, orchestration or tessitura; and this was written for Jenny Lind, who was not a heavier voice! The tinta of the part is right for her, I think...
Lisette is on a different level!! Beautiful timbre, clear coloratura, beautiful artistry, and she’s a good actress. Her approach to singing reminds me of Anna Moffo.
Agree with your assessment. Her voice has a lushness seldom heard, with a completely captivating musicality and technique unsurpassed, today. She takes you with her in her absolute commitment to whatever she sings. Nearly as beautiful a voice as Moffo, but that’s not a complaint. Her technique, though, is seemingly more secure than the beloved Anna Moffo.
Forgive my language but the legato and the trills are orgasmic! Thanks for saving us from a destiny of mediocrity that Netrebko and the likes have imposed on us for the past decade or so.
Cordiali saluti.
Never been "hiding", I'm afraid, but developped a 0-fault professional career, starting with "small" and "not-so-small" roles at the Met, before she came to be recognized at the international level as one of the MAJOR artists of the day.
I Masnadieri is possibly my very favorite opera. I sometimes think of the excitement that must have occurred at its premiere with Jenny Lind singing, Verdi conducting his first opera to premiere outside of Italy, and Queen Victoria in attendance. I have heard many renditions of this music, and I have never heard it better than here. VERY musical, artistic, effortless effect, in good taste yet exciting!! Amelia hearing her beloved Carlo lives, is believable.(Very smart and necessary to include the tenor's part for the cabaletta to make sense. Good job tenor, too!) Ms. Oropresa and Verdi's great and misunderstood opera deserve a first rate TRADITIONAL production that will show the world just exactly what I Masnadieri is: a masterpiece.
Sometimes referred to as one of Verdi's "young operas" or "early works" I Masnadieri is rich in beautiful tunes, arias, duets and trios. There is the usual high emotion and drama...and the obligatory stabbing, but I have always loved it. It deserves more praise and honor than it receives.
One of my favorite arias. Sutherland was fabulous in this. And a few more others. Thank god dramatically she held onto the High C longer. Oropesa is a great lyric soprano. Bravo!!!!!
Same thing happened to me too. I saw her at a concert in New York and became obsessed. At the time there was literally nothing about her online so I started this channel. Since then I have followed her career and I am just elated that she has grown so much. I am happy that I can make videos once in a while to show my appreciation.
@@lisetteoropesafans Thank you for this channel! It's a shame there aren't that many video's of her on TH-cam. I feel like I already seen all of it in just a few days. Let's hope there will be a lot more this year!
I also became one of her ''victims'' a few months ago, she sings so well with lot of emotional generosity and extra solid technique. I'm addicted to her and truly since I discovered her I've learned a lot and constantly ameliorate my own technique and interpretations
I just love this soprano so much. She sang the most incredible Lucia 3 years ago at the ROH. She had the audience on their feet in London ( which is extremely rare at the Royal Opera House). She went on to Madrid, Paris and now Milan. She Will be singing Manon and Volietta at the MET next year. Looking forward to hear her again at the ROH soon i hope.

Beautiful and unique interpretation! Lisette Oropesa has a beautiful and a genuine voice. Her voice floats in a very seamless transition between chest voice and head voice. Best wishes of a continuous success in your Opera Career.
I came back two years later. There is, after all, a god. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ The other singer is her former voice teacher at Louisiana State University School of Music. Orchestra of the same school.
This is the aria that made me fall in love with Joan Sutherland (her mid 1960s recital version), and I never thought I would hear anyone who could sing it with the same mastery. But Lisette Oropesa has certainly done it, and perhaps with greater musicality. This opera was written for Jenny Lind, who was famous for her trilling ability. Like her predecessors Lind, Sutherland, and Callas, Oropesa possesses a flawless and easy trill which she can deploy at will and in every register, and her flowing, legato coloratura and musical shaping of the melody are unequalled. She is truly a marvel, and I would be surprised if there is any other current singer who could come within ten miles of her.
@metropolitan1966 Sutherland was a wonder at her best, and her recording of this aria is arguably her best recording, along with her Attila aria. She had a much bigger voice than Oropesa, but I think Oropesa is the better musician, with much better diction, and a better sense of legato that never degenerates into Sutherland's "mooning and mooching" in slow music. My favorite version of this aria is still Sutherland's, but Oropesa has come in a close second.
@@Shahrdad My favorite female singer in any genre is Dame Joan.... but I couldn’t agree more with all you say. Joan’s voice and technique were otherworldly, but Lisette is all you say!
5:23 Amazing unexpected high run! Never heard of her until today. A formidable talent and very attractive voice! Can't think of a better pure coloratura singing today actually.
Same, violinist @ 5:40. She tosses her head while basking in the beauty of what she's hearing. What a gift Lisette gave to all of these students at her alma mater by coming back to perform with them!
I like your channel very much. Do you have the whole broadcast? I was not able to watch it (I don't live in the US and the time difference does not help at all) but would very much like to. If you do have it and if it isn't an inconvenience, do you think you could send it to me?

The aria is perfectly suited to her voice and she makes a masterpiece of it.

completely agree
She brings back the golden age of opera singing.
the voice is pure liquid gold.................never forced or strained and i just love it
Easily the best soprano of the new generation. Luscious tone , fabulous technique, and beautiful into the bargain. The only successor to La Stupenda.
She was officiously awarded that "title" ("Best female singer of 2022") by the Opera Awards this year. A wonderful singer, technician, artist, human being, all in the same person ! It's so rare.
Un tesoro. "...O caro accento, o melodia di paradiso." Indeed. It's as if she had Jenny Lind and Joan Sutherland watching over her. Bravissima!
And Callas... :)
@@69EBubu Unfortunately, Callas did not sing the role and never recorded the aria.
