- When Barry Tenderbock (Ian Bratschie), the man behind Judge Guy's (Keith David) car explosion, visits his mother's house, she questions him about the bombing. However, when Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) and DPD detectives arrive, despite Barry's resistance, they intervene.

Having left the hollers of Kentucky 15 years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 15-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind. A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who's already slipped through the fingers of Detroit's finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell's attorney, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.

IT'S a fail for me they took a 3year series an thought they could do it in 7 episodes,in a plot where he didn't really exist his character was just added to the story

Yeah. There's a few things they messed up on with the scene.
He's a punk , a bully and a coward ! so ain't the hollywood writer who wrote it , the SAME writer who screams about police brutality and defund the police !
If that's the typical attitude for Detroit cops, that explains a few things.
That is how Raylan used to do things.
00:08 All those cigarette butts outside the window were such a great touch... Can't tell you how many times I've sat in my car just like that stressed out, angry, uncertain about something, just chain smoking without any real perspective on time, and then gotten out and been shocked by the size of the cigarette butt pile outside my door!
This is the first clip I've seen of the new series. Not impressed. The quality of the acting, the writing, all of it… Is this really how bad it is?

God this show is an embarrassment to the REAL Justified....

I guess in Detroit, basement doors swing in and out depending on the way the writers want the guy to fall down the stairs.
there are a couple small details that you can miss pretty easily that indicate its a "swing door". Meaning it opens in or out.
large gap on the left side by the brick wall.
no inner frame trim
no door latch
they arent commonly used for basement doors tho, that is a bit weird.

I had a basement door that had wishbone hinges , worked great … when I was carrying stuff up or down the stairs…. Leaver handle.. didn’t have to turn a knob or back up to go through the door….

No comparison to the original ‘Justified’! Why the hell the producers chose to put Raylan in Detroit has every fan of the first series spinning on their collective heads and so far made it necessary for most folks to stock up on NO DOZ!

No, you are exactly right. Hated this from the first episode. A municipal judge dismissed federal charges. That can't happen. His daughter was not armed. Her mother is. Would Raylan's daughter be that gullible? Just too many questions to answer.
Show runners have a weird fascination with Detroit. I can think of at least 3 other crime drama type shows set in Detroit.
My memories of Justified will not be tarnished by this new show.
I've watched a clip or two and every single time it reinforces my very unfortunate conclusion that I'm not interested- And Justified is without question the greatest show of all time.
Really really really wanted this to be at least good. What a shame.
There is no comparison to Justified, never will be. Even if they move Raylan back to Kentucky it would lack the original flavor. If you do watch this just accept he is older and things are different, but its hard to do. I had to watch it and it does have its moments, but you will hate it if you compare.

The series did not come remotely close to a realistic portrayal of Motown. I know I've lived in the Metro area all my life
Sooooo... heard they restarted Justified and figured "Nah, not interested. It was amazing and ended well. No need to mess with it." Then saw this clip and figured let me check out if I was right not to watch it... I was right.

Did anyone else notice the continuity error with Raylan's vest?
Thing about that cop. He is a dick, in the end though he admits maybe he is an asshole but he proves he does have a moral compass that is aimed in the proper direction.
Based on this clip, it seems fair to conclude that it doesn't hold up against Justified. I'm glad I skipped it, as Justified was superior.

Fucking awesome eye dude! I could have watched this scene 100 times and still wouldn't have noticed that. People really impress me sometimes with the little details like that they notice that went right over my head... Wonder why they didn't either shoot the scene again, or edit the brief second where the knife bends out of the finished episode altogether? Maybe none of them noticed either, lol!
This reboot was Woke,poorly written and worst of all....predictable and boring. And his romance in Detroit? Lets just say she was no Ava or Winonna.

@@jadefalcon001 Ugh....making race a component of the whole story. Raylon's affair with the lawyer who is ugly beyond words. Don't forget ...his last two ladies were Wynonna and Ava. The writing sucked and his daughter can't act.
