I like the way Deb isolates one idea, new outside ski, and gives you one simple thing to think about in the drill. I like her style of teaching. In my experience of teaching and coaching tennis she has a very effective method of teaching and coaching.
Great tips; I love your videos! Your energy and enthusiasm remind me of why I loved watching you in your World Cup days: fierce! Thanks for sharing your copious knowledge with the skiing public. What a great learning opportunity.
Invaluable to "everyone", not just racers, but those who want greater control in all terain. DA provides not only the early season prep effort, but ongoing points to practice.
I love this, but I wish you could overlay graphics over the video so I could get a better idea. The diagram was fantastic, but would love to see the two combined :)
What technical differences are there in foot to foot in a shorter, tight slalom turn where the legs are retracting and extending together? I'm struggling to understand the transition where is seems to be a hip pivot that starts the turn in this video vs what appears to be the legs extending away from a stationary body in a slalom turn?
when we ski we balance pressure between foot to foot and also fore/aft or along the length of the ski. It is important at the turn initiation, or the top of the ski turn to pressure the front of the ski, or the ski tip. Pressuring the ski tip engages the ski tip with the snow helping to shape the turn. Attacking the ski tip is getting folks to apply pressure to the front of the ski at at turn initiation.
I LOVE your videos Deb, much gratitude to you for putting these out. When you say attack the tip, are you attacking the tip of your uphill inside ski that is about to be the outside ski, or the downhill ski that is about to be the inside ski?

Dear Deb, your videos are just gold! I wish I had a coach like you when I was a kid!
What a great coach. I love your attitude and your easygoing way of talking.

Could you explain more what it means "attack the ski tip"?

Attacking the ski that is becoming the outside ski.

She makes me realized the mediocrity of 95% of ski instructors out there, US and Canada..... Thank's Deb!!!!
