- Wooooooooow, this episode. What a journey! This video ended up being longer than it probably should have been, but I couldn't bring myself to cut down the Beau scenes any more than I already did. Sorry if they're not your cup of tea, but after all, these videos are ultimately a self-indulgence on my end, so whatever. Also, the timestamps are here for your benefit!

I love how Fjord is like "are we gonna kill you dad next?" he's so ready to avenge or get even with anyone who crosses the M9's path. He asked the same thing to Veth about Vess DeRogna when they realized that she made Veth's husbands life a living hell when he was forced to work for her.

Because she didn't even CONSIDER that she'd be heard...and yet she was. It was at this point that the Soul was redeemed in Beau's eyes. Not absolved of unwittingly aiding in cruelty, but taking responsibility nonetheless.

@@ehayys Exactly. I've noticed this myself having long ago watched her "Between the Sheets" episode. It's very much hitting her hard because she never got this level of validation or justice in college. And I think it's part of why Matt did this for Marisha: to use this narrative to help give her that validation.

@@briannabergman8381 Dairon had been present when Beau accused Zeenoth, all the way back in episode 4. Also, as was recently revealed on Talks last night, once the peace talks concluded, Dairon shifted their focus to Beau's allegations... and from there, the rest is history. As for Marisha's BTS...
*TW/Spoilers:*
She was sexually assaulted in college, namely the guy in question was being a little too "handsy" and thankfully didn't go further than that. But it still made her think that it's her fault and she brought it on herself, as well as that familiar internal shameful statement of "At leas I wasn't r***d." And it did not end there. The school wouldn't take action against the guy, even pretty much making it a "he said/she said" scenario. And she had to undergo that emotional abuse/trauma for a whole year until she finally snapped and instilled the fear of the gods in him and would've seriously hurt him had her friends not convinced her that he's not worth losing everything over. And she still left anyway, going to Los Angeles at the end of that year.
So in essence, this was Matt providing Beau and by proxy Marisha some justice and catharsis by not letting Zeenoth get away with it

I love the Father/Daughter type situation that Beu had with Caleb asking for the tower for the night, like asking her dad for the car to take out and what she can do with it.
I love Marisha's face when she starts to explain that she only needs 5 ninjas at 37:53

Oh man, that face from Yasha at 25:52. I don't think she ever showed such pure rage except for maybe with Obann; she *really* hates Beau's dad. I think she's legit imagining squeezing his throat between her hands right there. Ashley's so in it it she doesn't even hear Sam's joke, it takes Marisha laughing to snap her out of it. You can see when she adjusts her glasses she's like "oh right yeah i'm not a raging barbarian i'm an actor :P"
Can we just appreciate that Travis clocked the Holy Avenger right away and made a move to get it, and actually SUCCEEDED. Everyone was surprised that it was the Holy Avenger but he just nodded because he remembered that sword and knew what that "platinum greatsword" was.
"I don't think putting Voldemort in Skeletor is the best idea."

What some may have missed is that Grog was the one to find the holy avenger originally, with a Nat 20! Fjord got it back... with a Nat 20! Fate? Coincidence? Whatever it is, it's awesome.
True but Matt said when reading the equip requirements in C1 that it had to be equipped by a Paladin (hence they gave it to Kima in the first place), so unless Yasha took a level in that then she couldn't have equipped it anyway. I get that it's tough to do but continuity is important with these things.
During that scene of " flaky Cornhusk of a man" this sends out a IMPORTANT message to alot of people. If you have ever been in a situation that wasn't right or put your life in a bad situation, there are people out there who will do you right. So many people are hiding or just passing through life thinking what happened was supposed to happen until the right people hear you and help do something about that. There are people out there that will do what they can to help end destruction and terrible people. I hope that when ppl see this it gives them hope that there are people like them.

I don't know why the comment Dairon made about "many chains to be broken" instantly created the thought in me of "she's the one behind the attempts of releasing the chained oblivion!"

I mean, Nathaniel isn't entirely wrong. It could have been about strength recognizing strength and not a chance for two lesbians to flex their sexuality.
I mean, I'm a lesbian who doesn't really need to flex my sexuality to others and I have friends who agree that it's kind of a thing that happens to a degree that says we do it too much. It can get old having to say, "Hi, I'm Katie and I'm a trans lesbian!" When these aspects barely define me.
But I do understand that being LGBTQ+ isn't about being attention whores, it's about a lifetime of oppression and finally having the strength and pride to express this side of ourselves after being so repressed by heteronormative garbage values.

21:53 "I guess you get used to cruelty being handed down as the norm" - this line (and the entire scene) hits SO much harder after Talks Machina reminded me of Marisha's history with assault. You can actually hear a quiver in her voice at times...powerful stuff.

At the end of this episode, it reminded me of times long ago. Not role playing, but just drunk and high with friends and I would take them on a journey, cuz I was a freak, and apparently a DM (not knowing) just talking them through this wild imaginative journey with the sole purpose of scaring them half to death. Creepy sound effects included vocally willing them into fear and creepiness. Well done Matt! It feels just like that. What a satisfaction of getting that very reaction from those involved. Masterclass storytelling with vocal effect.
When Yasha got the platinum grey sword, it was like the scene when Mando got the Beskaar spear

thank you for watching, and for the feedback! i wouldn't mind the length but sometimes it gets hard for me to finish the video for monday release when it's reaching the 45 minute mark. this one was a close call, but that's also in part due to the video i put out yesterday. also i felt like this video may kind of drag for some people who aren't interested in beau. but fortunately i simply cannot relate to that issue so i left it all in!

After seeing the end of the campaign and how touch and go it was, what happen at 4:09 makes you realize how much more dangerous it would have been if it had happen!!!
Ironic how here they were saying they enjoy Werther's candies, and now we're at C3 and they HATE Werther's candies.
I feel like Yasha’s dream is eluding to the Holy Avenger being a dormant Vestige of Divergence. Might be totally off base.
Won't matter only a paladin can attune it. That's why they gave it to her in C1.
Vestige idk but this might be Matt bending the rules of that weapon couse tbh zealot barbarian is the closest thing to paladin that you can be without multiclassing

After watching this, at some point of the CR lifespan there needs to be a compilation of Matt's words being misconstrued as crude humor by the cast like with the Celebone and in this case, the magical scry spell!
I'm unsure if there's much content that can support this extremely specific request but god it cracks me up every time I hear the DM defend themselves after describing such intricate and cool scenarios, only to have the players chuckle over it

Someone puts so much work into these episode recaps. Thank you! I love watching/listening to the show, but sometimes there is a part I really enjoy. It's great to have this so I can catch all the best parts(maybe something I missed even) I also can not get over that Marisha Ray is on this(odd only because i would see her over on Super Power Beat Down, and just figured she was a model hired to make the show look "cool." Glad to see that she is an awesome VO artist and seems super chill. Way to go Matt(and Marisha)
For me, the "I'm good, thank you" when Laura mentioned the beatles was the best line (and second was Travis saying "it never works for Sam either" xD). But yeah, that episode DOES HAVE EVERYTHING ahah
Also, if Beau's dad gets arrested, wouldn't that fulfill the prediction/deal from the hag ? I can't remember it exactly but she wanted his fortune in return (which he didn't have at the time, hence why he thought it could mean Beau) but, as we learn later, could very well mean that she'd enjoy his downfall/suffering etc...
W/e, I just thought of it as I watch this video but it doesn't really matter anyway. Kinda curious if Matt will play around that though.
Turns out that yes, it does. Because he mentioned in a reply to me on Twitter that Clara basically realizes what Thoreau had been hiding from her (SHE DIDN’T KNOW HE HAD PLANNED TO HIRE ZEENOTH TO KIDNAP THEIR DAUGHTER) and ends up leaving him, taking TJ with her. He ends up losing his wife, his heir, and his legacy.
All because of his obsession with having things his way and his paranoia with the hag coming to collect.
In short, because he arranged for it, it eventually became his undoing. So in a way, Beau’s words rung true: “Maybe I’m the one sent to humble you.”

Is it just me or am I getting Beholder, The Great Mother vibes? Dreams? Reality? Anti Magic Cones? Diety of Beholders. Astral Sea and the Far realms have some pretty fucked up shit. Including Literal spaceships made of flesh. I'm stoked. Now if Matt blindsides me and uses this as a stepping stone to some Eldar evil looking to consume the planet and the City was a failed attempt to escape. I might explode.

man i hope marisha is one of the guests for the upcoming talks machina bc i NEED to hear more from her and beau about the whole Zeenoth situation! i'd honestly forgotten that was part of it and when she said "that's not,,, that's not how we do things" even I was shocked because Yeah??? that does seem hypocritical?? but we'd just accepted and to see Beau, the one who it affected and went through it, to also be in a position of conflict and not just outright overjoyed just,,, AGH
god i cant imagine what must've been in her head when Yudala said "It should've always been your choice" because CHRIST that idea is so important and is such a huge part of both of the empire kids' trauma; they were forced into abusive situations by abusive individuals who manipulated their trust and in the end were put on a path of good they otherwise wouldn't have becuase of/in spite of those events... yet Beau's is from such a different place than Caleb's and to hear those words must've... gods it fucks ME up and i dont even have that kind of trauma
