Christmas Cards from Blank White Paper

- Sometimes it is fun to start with a plain white piece of cardstock and see where it leads you. These Christmas Cards start with an A2 size layer in plain white card. A fun day in the studio playing with ink, handcut stencil and a few stamps. Also, an update on the upcoming move that should start in November. I am beginning to pack up the studio and formulating a plan of action!

Oh, my stars!!! I'm impressed x 1000! You speak so distinctively and clearly. My hearing isn't what it used to be, so I always use closed captions. No need in your videos! I love how prepared you were from the beginning and I had no need to ask questions! That's unheard of for me! I also love how you made beautiful cards look so simple to make. I'll be sending this video to my daughter so she can make some of these beautiful cards without a lot of the supplies that traditional card makers have. I have dies and machines and lots of supplies she does not have. She can purchase minimal supplies to make these! I don't know how to properly thank you and so glad I found you! I'll be a new subscriber!

These cards are so creative and so easy! I loved paper dolls as a girl. Such great memories! Moving is a good time to purge all of the "stuff" you no longer use... we had a house flood 3 months ago and I am now donating, gifting or throwing out a lot of things we have stored for almost 40 years. It is so freeing to have less "stuff"!
I agree, we are purging a lot of stuff too. But I am really struggling with my studio purging. It may be too much at the moment. Fortunately we do have time to make the move in stages. There is already a lot set aside for an auction when we sell the farm. But boy my stamps are really challenging me!!

When I moved from CA~>NC in 1999 movers packed my whole studio & wrapped 2~>3 stamps in a few pcs of paper. It took the late guy from 10:30~>6:30 to pack over 5,000 wooden stamps. When we move 1 mile from rental house to the house we bought I used the shrink wrapped to make 2 handles around my boxes. This made it easier for me to carry them.

Oh Amy your unpack process must have taken forever!! I am going to try to get as many things packed in the cases as I can. We will handle the move ourselves so there is a different level of care there sometimes. Really the worst part of this at the moment is trying to figure out what can be in storage for possibly 18 - 24 months. I am hoping to have it all stored in a small bedroom in boxes. We'll see. The boxes are mounting up this week...they take up a lot more space that I realized!
I can't tell you how much I love these cards. I have just moved myself, and my helpers totally mixed my boxes up and I will forever be organizing now. Anyway, I absolutely appreciate how few products needed for these, so few in fact, that I don't even mind getting the few items I can't find in my mess 😅. So thank you, my friends might just get cards this year after all. Actually, these will be in my go to for any kind of card. Again...thank you!

Love these cards! You have given me lots of ideas I never thought of. It’s interesting to me you don’t use dies. I can’t cut a straight line to save my life but you have a very steady hand.
I think the reason they look so straight is that I folded the template in half before I cut it. (If I remember correctly LOL)

Thank you! I tried just a baggie in hand but it didn't work nearly as well as the wad of scrunched up tissue. I will be keeping that concept in my toolbox of future quick background ideas!

Thanks for showing how to make the background with the sentiment. I can use several of the ones I have to do the same thing for other types of cards, whatever goes along with the sentiment, like get well, anniversary, etc. I've always wanted to buy the background stamps, but couldn't justify the prices! Now I can use what I have! First time viewer and just subscribed.

AMAZING cards!!! LOVE the background technique using the crumbled tissue paper and plastic bag!!! Sometimes we think we need all the latest gadgets and tools, when in reality we just need a few everyday household products. TFS all the wonderful techniques!!! You can do it Bonnie! These are easy to create and you can do as much to them as your creativity desires. Just enjoy the process and see what you come up with. Try other colors around the outside edge too...

Love the cards today! Girl you are the organization Queen for sure. Such good ideas you have! For me, I’ve learned after I have made a lot of cards using the same stamp I rarely use it again. We moved almost 4 years ago and it took quite awhile to sort through everything so I was “stern” with myself and did lots of purging and can honestly say I haven’t missed any of it (to my own surprise)! I sold 7 large boxes!!! You’re making a good start.

As always lovely cards. You have to stop putting these ideas into my head I am still making plaid backgrounds - love them. We downsized last year and my craft space is so much smaller. If I buy anything new I will have to throw out an item I don't use very often. I need a she shed in the garden. I love how organised you are , I am the same and it makes moving so much easier. Love the cards, and interesting to see your ideas for moving. We are preparing to move too, but I am not as organized as you are. Working at it, but not there yet! I will have to put some things in storage when we get ready to show our house for sale, so seeing what you do is very helpful. It is a daunting task when you are older, as I am, but we will get through it. I’ve been trying to talk my husband into this move for about 5 years, and he’s finally agreed that it is time.

Hi Julia... I haven't thought about paper dolls for nearly 100 years!!! The good old days when we played with paper. I remember as a child I would always get into trouble for leaving my paper scraps scattered over the floor... LOL!
Julia, you completely surprised me when you made this card today, and this is the first time I have seen a card made this way. All the cards you had made the Christmas tree, bauble and today the heart bauble are simply beautiful! I am really impressed with this technique, and I thought they were embellishments that you glued onto the card panel. I loved how you used three colours to give the in this case the heart a more 3D effect, and leaving it very light in the centre.
Julia, can I please ask what sort of alcohol you use in your craft studio? I have seen other crafters using alcohol, but I don't know what it is and where one would purchase it. I am sure I wouldn't be purchasing a bottle from the bottle shop where people purchase alcoholic beverages!!!
YES... JULIA...JULIA...JULIA, was that 12 drawers of flowers I saw??? My goodness, but there are some lovely floral stamps out there. Looking at mine I have a few, but certainly not as many as you!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Look, it seems like you have a wonderful plan in action, and as you remove each item from your shelves etc... assess each item into four categories - throw away, donate, sell and keep. You might have some old pens that no longer write well or scrap pieces of paper etc that you can easily throw away without guilt. You might have something that is still good that you won't ever use, you might want to either donate or sell. Personally, I am all for donation as to sell for me seems like too much hard work and added stress! For items that you know you will be using of course pack with lots of care, and we look forward to hopefully seeing them in future videos.
Seek Jesus' help in the tasks ahead, and He will guide you. Jesus has helped me declutter 80% of 'stuff' from my home, and I know He is interested in all that we do.

Hey Gloria ... well I am glad I can still surprise you LOL!!! I knew you would call me out on my 12 drawers of flower stamps. I'm not sure I can give them up they are all so useful - if I just had more time to make cards! I was thinking about this in the middle of the night. There will be a year of just checking on the house build and toodling around exploring. During that year, maybe I can weed out a lot of stamps. The problem is what to do with them. But I certainly don't need to move 12 drawers full. I have a pretty good plan on packing, and have ordered the boxes I need to pack the studio. Those bookshelves will act as a blind to hide stacked boxes very well. So, the studio is not nearly as daunting as it was a few weeks ago. Have a Blessed day my Friend!! Julia
@@SeniorSusieStamps Oh Julia, I had to laugh when you were talking about the plethora of floral stamps that you have, and then you mentioned weeding a lot of your stamps! Very appropriate choice of words! You are so right though as floral stamps are so versatile, and which ones are you willing to let go of... I don't like those decisions!

I really loved paper dolls. It was back in the fifties and sixties. Now I am telling my age. I am starting to do some on my cards.

LOL - I think I like wadded up cellophane wrap better. But I didn't have any at the desk at the moment ... so you know how that goes! Seize the Moment!!
@SeniorSusieStamps , well, now I know what I might do with the cellophane we received wrapped around a gift cookie assortment this week! The boxes are pretty, too so Nothing about this gift will be lost.😉😊

Hi Kiwipommie! LOL sometimes I mumble it is actually a nail dryer. I use it on the cool setting to dry things sometimes. It's handy because you can just leave it and walk away to do something else. What a great video from start to finish. Your ideas always go into my files marked "try this later." I don't envy you the move of all your supplies. You'll really find out which supplies you love as you go through them item by item. Your move to the mountains sounds lovely. Will you miss the farm?
Oh Lucy you have no idea how hard it is going to be to leave the farm. But when the aging process starts, it is better to get ahead of it a little, and plan for the future. We have stairs here and so much outside work. If something were to happen to Jon or one of us got sick it would be a disaster. Better to say goodbye now than let it go to ruin just to hang on too long.
Oh My! What an undertaking! Will you try to sell the stamps you no longer wish to use or will that add too much to your already overwhelming to do list?
Hi Sharon - That part of the equation eludes me. I have purchased a lot on ebay and may contact some of the big sellers there to see if they want to buy in lots.
Can you or have you done a video on how you record your craft videos. I have been making cards for a long time and was inspired by you to record some of my craft making to post on Facebook, but it is not going very well. I’m interested to know what kind of camera or phone you are using to record and what type of tripod you’re using. Also, what software do you use to edit your videos. Any information would be helpful I am so inspired by your card making and could watch you all day❤
Hi Andreanicolette - I have not done one of those videos. Mainly, because I am so tech challenged! I have an old Galaxy 7 Edge android phone that I hang over top of my desk on a phone hanger. I'll try to find an amazon link for that and post at the end here. I just changed over to a Rhode mic, but had an inexpensive lavalier mic before that which worked pretty well. I also have some good overhead lights. I use Wondershare Filmora edit software. Will try to remember to do a pull back of my desk next video to show you, but here are some links to get you started. These are not the exact lights, I couldn't find the ones I have. Let me know if you have any more questions, it's hard getting started - but you can do it.

Hi Anita we have decided to sell the farm and move to the North Georgia Mountains. Bought a lot to build and a little house to move into while the build is going on, so we can sell the farm. Whew!
