- Oh yeah baby I'm onto a new mixture that is so much more versatile than the cloud mix. A bunch of new experiments coming your way ✌
If you're looking for the DecoArt Satin Enamels and can't find it, you can try another brand of enamel paint and see if it works out :) If it does, share your finding with the world and let's all have fun painting! There are plenty of people who work with enamel paint that isn't the one from DecoArt (because it's too damn hard to find)
Products used:
- 24"x12" level 3 canvas from Michael's
- Artist Loft flow acrylic in white
- DecoArt satin enamels in white (just a small ratio, less than cloud mix)
- Liquitex basics in primary blue and light blue
- Liquitex pouring medium (a tad)
- Water to consistency

I said "our"...for the very first time in the almost 2 years I've been painting. Though, I DO NOT consider myself an artist. I'm 73 yrs old and have never painted before August 2019. I've yet to paint anything that hasn't been inspired by another great artist. So, I guess I consider myself a Knock Off Painter! LOL!!! I’ve had great luck with Krylon color max acrylic latex indoor/outdoor satin white paint. It doesn’t say enamel on the can but my receipt and the website says enamel paint, which is why I bought it. It’s given me same results as deco art. I got 2 cans for $20 US from Lowe’s website. Good luck everyone 🙌🏼 Each can is 1qt or 946 ml

Less is defenetly more, this is stunning.
Don’t tell DecoArts what you want the paints for as I believe they are trying to sell their own brand of premixed pouring paints. Also try JoAnns and Home Depot as sources for your paint. Best of luck lady!! Have watched you since the beginning and you just keep getting better!!
It doesn't change anything if they also have a line of ready to pour paints. What you need are different brands to react with each other to create effects. If they have a ready to pour line I will be very happy and would love to try them! They already have the fluid acrylic line but I've never used them in a large quantity pour.

Behr Satin Enamels from Home Depot are also sold in sample pots if you want to give it a try. I've found though, that you need to add more than you would the Decoart. This is very pretty!!

You can order your deco art enamels online at decorate website. I bought white, linen and dark blue. I'm new to dutch pour and haven't tried this yet. I love to try lots of different methods and cant wait to try this. Love this piece and the colors you used.
Yes for people in the US you can order on DecoArt website but not Canada. Good luck experimenting!

Really nice! I have tried Behr Satin Enamel white in 8 oz trial jar for 1/3 price of DecoArt. It is okay in a pinch but seems to get grainy if too diluted. At least that was my experience.

fyi...I heard from Deco arts yesterday and they said they are not dis-continuing the product...they are trying to get ready to start production again very soon.....Michaels doesn't have it in my town.....

I could order from Michael's in December 2020 .
I ordered 8 bottles it came in 5 shipments from different locations. Wow , so lucky to get it .
The last time I looked the Deco Art website offered a couple of colors of the satin enamel. I ordered and received three jars of it in linen two weeks ago. Plus I found three jars of white and one jar of navy at Michael’s in St Louis, Mo. last week.

You can try a satin enamel from the hardware store, some artists in the US are using it to good effect.
Check out Sara Taylor modern art on TH-cam, she uses hardware store satin enamel.

@@lindalambert3077 I use Owatrol Floetrol off amazon in my youtube videos. Its not cheap but it's my go to. I have managed to purchase flood Floetrol off amazon UK also but the definitely wasn't cheap. I just can't get hold of aussie Floetrol here at all.

The whit mix is genus, I love it, the touches of gold cool. I wanted to know if gloss white enamel would work or not. I to can not find satin, it’s crazy!

Valspar makes A great satin enamel that’s what I use. You can get that at Lowe’s.

Amazzzing love it! I still haven't found the satin enamel so just tried chalk paint + milk paint & def didnt mix either right cuz ended up ruining my paintings:(

I've heard alot about the artisloft flow acrylic changed after 2019 does the new version still work? I'm going to pick up the stuff I need to do this but wanted to double check before I did. So, just wanted to let you know I wrote to decoart and they replied and said that bc of covid they were down to half staff. They did however lead me to their warehouse to buy some. I got 10 of them @7.99 each. If you would like one melyd I'm happy to send you one in Canada

Very beautiful! Have you ever tried the satin enamels in other colors? Folk Art makes them in 2 oz bottles. I known they are “enamel”, not sure if the bottle says it’s satin. At any rate, this is simple, elegant and gorgeous! Thank you!
I've tried the black and dark blue and they react differently. Its an intense reacting brand.
Would it work with golden heavy gloss gel too?

I just waited for the painting to be dry to touch. I live in Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec:)
If u cant find white satin enamels, let whatever color satin enamels u have sit for a while, they start to separate and u can just mix a tiny bit of the clear oily liquid that floats to the top w white liquitex paint to get similar cloud effect.

Hi Mely, I've read somewhere that titanium white will not work if mixed with the satin enamel - have you had this experience?
Deco art had problems with production due to COVID, right now you can order some on their web site. They will produce more in the future.

I was able to get my hands on Decoart satin enamel in smoke grey. Will that have the same effects as the white?
Yep it does. Just watched someone’s video with gray decoart satin and it had the exact same effect as the white.

I finally found SATIN ENAMEL AGAIN !!!! After iver a year of not. Michaels had it. Not sure if they ran out or not. Today is may 26 2021. More than happy to get some fir anyone in crazy need for it. Charge only fir product and snipping of course. ALSO my very favorite GOLD made by deco art. Americana decor
Metallics. 24 k gold makes its very own cells which carry colors on its they'er backs. Very badass GOLD !!

If you want perfect dots use the other end of the paint brush. It is so much easier. I still think this can be done with no satin enamel and just using water with a different mix of paint colour brands. I am so tired of experimenting. I love your blues. ❤️
For those in the US they can use Behr house paint in the satin finish & it works just about the same. Traci Reed uses it in all her cloud pours & gets great results. Very cool pour Mely, I love it. I luckily stocked up on the Decoart satin a while back also & still have a few jars to play with. 🤩🤩 love seeing new experiments & techniques you come up with. !! Thanks for sharing. 😉😉😉

I thank you again for your sharing all you do. By the way, Decorations has satin enamel but just in a different packaging and it's cheaper there. I bought 5 jars. I just went to the decoart website and satin enamel is back as it used to be. Weird as I got a different packaging but now it's back in the old one. I'm confused....well payday getting more for sure.

Wowza💙this looks so fun ! I have to try it! Also. I found the deco art satin enamel on Amazon last week. It was like $31.00. 😳 Too much, but it’s not there anymore. I keep checking in case it returns and at a lower price. I still have some I’m using when I can’t control myself and have do a cloud pour! I love this blowing technique. Groovy!
