Waxwings at Hassop Station

  • Bohemian Waxwings at Hassop Station, near Bakewell, Derbyshire in the UK. This is part of the 2023/24 influx and the flock was around 150 birds at the time of filming. The Waxwings were feeding on Hawthorn berries and drinking from puddles on the the track and small pools in the nearby fields.

    Thank you for sharing this. Reminds me of seeing these as a child in huge flocks in Great Coates, Lincolnshire.
    They're also known as Pyewipes where I'm from.

    Only just seen this Pete, marvellous. What a winter for Waxwings, the ones I texted you about at Bowdenwoods were so tame. Seen some on Tinsley Golf Course too..

    Fantastic Pete. I don't think they found the white rowan berries I had in my garden for them. You'll have to get them to follow you back to Green Moor. Thank you for the video.
