I don’t even know how many pages of Thor I have read so far. The issues contained in that second Omnibus are indeed great. I read them all in the Epic collections. Your book holder is very fancy! It looks all ready for The Necronomicon!
The book holder is a great solution to those giant Omnibuses. Although your solution of owning every Epic Collection ever printed works pretty well too!

I think Walt Simonsons Thor is as good as comics can get…and I love all of the older stuff. I think Defalco’s run that came after it doesn’t get enough credit. It’s hard to follow perfection, but he gave a good go. I quite like it when Odin is a dick lol. They are big….. good solution.
Apparently, I was 10 years old when Thor was introduced. Early Thor was just as you say, formulaic superhero stuff. Tales of Asgard was when things got wonderful. I'm pretty blurry on the details, but I seem to remember a Thor annual that was all Asgardian Thor. Completely captured my imagination and got me checking books on Norse mythology out of the Library. One thing I really don't like is how these wonderful Kirby/colletta pages are printed in such bright dayglow inks on glossy paper. I would prefer introducing some tint to tone the colors down a little. To have the pages look a little more subtle and then pasted on the glossy white would be my ideal. Somewhat Similar to the Artisan Editions I've seen where you can see the original page mounted on the white. I think Savage Sword of Conan that you also reviewed would leap off the page if a similar technique was employed. Always a blast hearing your opinions G.
You are 100% correct. The last issue in Omnibus 1 is the all Asgard annual you referenced. Good memory Buck! And I agree the ink came out a bit pastel on the Omnibuses. A darker tone closer to the original issues would look better.
I was never a 14-year-old boy, but I still think these comics are pretty cool. Great work, as usual, Grammaticus. (PS Every time I type your online name, my autocorrect tries to change you to Grammatical!😂)
That's funny about the Grammatical autocorrect. Maybe if it gets typed enough times it will just accept fate? Back in 62, about 95% of the market would have been teenage boys. These days, much more even distribution between the sexes with so many more choices of comics and heroes/heroines! Thanks for checking out the video Pat!

Yeh they're rather pricey. I won't be reading them anytime soon.
The Epic collections tend to be a bit more affordable. That second Omnibus though.....ouch.
