      I’m not into this and I still don’t understand how he got that sound did it have to do with the knobs on the lower left? I didn’t understand what setting he was it seems like each time he played it was a different setting but I did not see him turning the knob

      @@evelynvongizycki1017The square buttons under the largest knob are used to go through the standard sounds made by Korg. But of course you can customize your own sounds.

    What I find funny is that this synth is the one that gained popularity and it's big brother, the MS2000 which was essentially the same synth but had more real time controls on it and more features, kind of seems to have faded into obscurity. You still see this synth kicking around in people's studios, their gigs, and setups even today. It sold like mad. The MS2000, while everyone seemed to have one when it came out, seems to have, disappeared now. You pretty much NEVER see one in a studio, or at a gig any more. I'll never understand how this little thing became so popular and the MS2000 just... went into everyone's closets, when in my opinion, the MS2000 was the far superior synth with all the real time control elements on it.

    • @Miklonario
      @Miklonario 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love the MS200 (LOVE it), but the 4-voice polyphony and super-dodgy power supply soldering issue didn't do it any favors in the long term as far as sales are concerned; it also a significantly larger footprint in the studio or on stage than the Microkorg. Totally agree about its capabilities though, absolutely wonderful unit.

      @hvegel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Angelo DelSenno have you tried it through a PA? I run my MK through an EHX Cathedral into a big PA every week, sounds dark and charming. Strymon has a very transparent sound, which many prefer. The EHX really has a moody and character laden feel.

    • @Grow_Everything
      @Grow_Everything 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The EHX cathedral is nice, but I feel that most of the presets are designed mainly for use with a guitar. The big sky also has a bunch of extra parameters available in the sub menus. Very versatile. I recently switched to the BigSky after having the Cathedral for about 7 mo. and I haven't looked back. Not trashing cathedral at all though. It's probably one of the best sub $500.00 reverb pedals.

    Instead of a microKorg, I dove for a microKorg XL, which has more in common with the Radias than the MS-2000 (I exchanged a 2000 synth keyboard to get the XL). One thing I miss about the 2000 is a bi-timbral patch which layered a cross mod sound like those produced during the Transformers film of 2007 over an arpeggio. Even w2ithout the 2000's onboard sequencer, could such a patch be re-created with either the microKorg or the microKorg XL?

    Still my favorite synth since I got mine in 2011. I've owned or borrowed a dozen synths and if I could only have one, it would be the MK. It has a vast palette of waves, elaborate modulation routing and excellent effects. It's like a room full of equipment that fits on your lap. Since learning how to program it myself I've spent countless hours just playing with it, with a big smile on my face. No synth I know is more fun to play with.

      I'm 2 years late at a reply to your question. I do recommend getting one. I've had one since '08. I also do hip hop with and MPC2000. The Roland boutiques are cool. Nowadays I would recommend spending your money on Behringer stuff. Trust, I just bought in September of 2020 a Behringer Poly D and it is ridiculous. I haven't used it yet with my MPC because I bought a Behringer RD-8 (Roland 808 clone). Trust me, put your money on Behringer.

    Does anyone know if the Microkorg S features the same sound played at 4:30? got an idea for a song using it but don't want to pay for the upgraded model if it doesn't feature that sound lol

      Its sinewave and lfo modulated noise. Mod wheel tuning is probably just tuning or some sync/crossmod type. Just if you want to try and emulate it
