    I would listen to your dad. Sell that cab as a full unit telling about the wiring as to what engine was in it before. Cut the frame behind the cab, leave it mounted to what is left, take the front axle out but as for that steering box, if left as a unit together might make it more attractive to the new buyer. Price would reflect that bonus or offer to remove for a difference in price. Less work for the next person adds to its being sold as a buildable unit for someone else and they do have to come get it costing money.... make it worth a persons time. Times are dang tough and nickel and diming the other guy so you save a hundred, seems mute as you needed a good deal and so do they. There are businesses that remain in business because of a decent chance to save a dollar just like you and do you really need old nuts and bolts that you never get around to using. These are projects and for some its their only chance to survive what may come next. I might sound harsh but your dad has been there and done that more times than he probably shared with you.

And, for Miss Andrea keeping spirits up and not blaming you for making a mistake, my hat’s off to her too! I’m kinda anxious to see Kenny go through all his transformation, with all these parts you have gotten for him! I just know he’s going to look amazing when you & your Dad get him done! That spill was overrated, the company that charged RB took them to the cleaners. No way in hell would it cost 6 grand to clean up a diesel spill that barely leeched into the ground. They could have taken a tiger torch and burned off the area. Scraped up the inch or two of messed up gravel and put some new roadbase down. What came out of that tank was probably 90% water. If it didn't have a strong odor of diesel. These environmental companies like to hose people make a big deal over nothing. Hate to see you got pegged with a 3 grand bill. What was your old man trying to do stand the old 580 on one wheel 😂

    • @cammos
      @cammos 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ur paying for there certifications and dont forget they have to decontaminate it and anything that is contaminated has to b disposed of according to what ever the epa or who ever says so its not just clean it and done and you know no services we need are ever cheap it sux but we let our governments screw us no matter the country im in aus and wed get a decent bill aswell.

    • @davidtipton7234
      @davidtipton7234 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not really. When I was doing this work. The environmental company still has to do something with the waste. They pay for an environmental landfill to take it. And expose of it per osha. And believe me. It's expensive. Doesn't matter if it barely leached. You still have to dig down a couple of feet. Per osha. They have rules they HAVE to follow or loose their license. Not worth it.

  • @1911MikeinOregon
    @1911MikeinOregon หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    It's the old saying; "Do as I say, not as I do"...
    The environmental crap is so ridiculous. The people that implement the rules and laws
    pertaining to it are clueless idiots. Where do these people think the diesel came from in the first place ?
    Kudos for coming clean with it Mike. Crap happens. Everyone of us has made at least one
    mistake because we were in a hurry or just not paying attention. I know I have...
    I don't know how it is in Canada, but I used to haul a lot of hazardous materials, and I drove
    a fuel tanker the last 8 years that I drove. In the U.S most hazardous spills have a reportable
    quantity of 50 gallons, so if it's under 50 gallons, you don't have to worry about it.
    Sooooo, almost every small spill was always under 50 gallons LOL. Of course you had to use
    some common sense about it depending on the chemical and location.
    Personally I don't think whoever welded the end cap on that tank did a very good job.
    It shouldn't have just peeled away cleanly from the seam.

    $3000 is still a lot of money for a guy to pay, but two years before I retired (2018) I was driving fuel tanker
    from Central Oregon to Portland Oregon every day, hauling gas and diesel back to the Central Oregon area.
    I had a new 2016 8 axle KW T-800 that hauled 12,000 gallons of gas. I was running with one of my friends that
    drove for the same company. He also had a brand new KW T-800 that only had 1300 miles on it...
    We were on our way back from Portland, and I was following him. We were just east of Mt. Hood and he yelled on the cb ELK !!!!
    and his brake lights came on, but the truck started going left really hard, and he went off the road and rolled the truck several times...
    He amazingly walked away from it, but he was hurt pretty good. The amazing thing was that when the truck rolled,
    it destroyed the cargo tank on the truck and there was gas and diesel everywhere. The trailer broke away from
    the truck and also rolled but somehow it didn't leak a drop.Even the inside of the cab had fuel everywhere.
    Why that thing didn't explode, we will never know...
    Come to find out, when he hit the big bull elk, it somehow snapped the steering arm and he lost control.
    Anyway, the cleanup on that was over 3 million dollars. It was a big job. A stretch of the highway had to be torn out
    and rebuilt too, but part of the reason it was so expensive was because it happened on one of the Indian Reservations.
    Had it happened somewhere else, it would have been less expensive but still expensive...
    Several years ago one of the drivers from the same company crashed on a different highway, unfortunately his truck
    exploded and he lost his life. The cleanup for that one was 1.5 million if I remember correctly, but it happened right
    along a river and some of the fuel got into the water...

So he sticks his hand over the hole and is yelling at me to grab buckets! We ended up with about 40 litres of leaded fuel......which we put in our own cars.......it was awesome for little bit to have the power back!
