So grateful to have caught this show....better than the two nights previously at Radio City IMO. Waited in line over night for 14 hours to get tickets....was one of the last few dozen to get in! Those were the days!
I am old lol I remember recording this on the VCR and replaying so much.
I did the same. I also recorded the audio on a Panasonic reel to reel tape that I was playing with at the time. Ended up burning it to CD and was literally the best sounding thing I had of theirs at the time. Wish I had more of this show!
I found a taped recording of it at a local thrift store the other week. If you're from South Carolina this tape might be yours

I am SO glad I watched this till the end. Listening to Trey forget lyrics is always a funny time but this... this was epic forgetfulness. Rare and hugely funny.

God I actually forgot all about this. I don’t think I’ve seen this since it first aired. Pretty sure I watched it right after seeing them at Holmdel when they busted out the first Japanese meatstick on US soil

Closest thing to jazz in a rock group. The doors touched on it with their cocktail lounge sound. Obviously the dead were experimental pioneers but this is sheer fushion of elements. I would say if jerry was a noodling Charlie Parker then Trey is like a melodic Coltrane or Miles

Trey is undoubtedly my favorite guitarist of all time. He's soooo good. Some of the subtle stuff he does and his feel....he manages to make the most outlandish stuff melodic. And I'm not someone who worships Phish either, I listen to all types of stuff and I really enjoy Phish live but, I'm not a Phish head , Trey is just an incredible player though. I think Clapton once mentioned Trey as a favorite.

the modern jazz BRITTANICA of rock for sure for when people ask me what Genre is your favorite band Phish it has to be JAZZ and i hate that word but that is whta my favorite band is in a nutshell for sure they are funk bluegrass classic and folk and progressive rock for sure probably prog rock most like YES or GENESIS but that does not the nail meet head of the hammer not quite anyways JAZZ is the only word that fully encompasses all the craziness that is my favorite band from Leaves to Golgi Apparatus

The weirdest thing for me in 2000, was when Trey cut all his hair off during fall tour. Saw 9/15, 9/17, 9-22/23 that fall and I think he cut it right before the Rosemont shows. I remember being shocked when he took the stage that night

Easily the most overrated group/band, of all time. Not saying they can't play their instruments but even with an open, expansive mind which likes most music; while still being able to appreciate what they try to do...most of the time it's just a bunch of convoluted sounds when it isn't repetitious which doesn't form consistently good music. Yal are fanatical though so don't let me faze you with my opinion. I'm sure the witch hunt will begin now....but I'm right. haha
They are the BEST tension release bands, better known as Jambands, perhaps ever. The tension they can build and the resolutions are fantastic. Treys ability to play 4 note solos that literally sound different every phrase or go round, and their ability to create spontaneous music out of nothing are all reasons people are into Phish. But they are the best at creating tension and then having it resolve and there are countless books on the subject of harmony resolution if you are interested.
Joseph Veditz tension and release....u nailed it. The first time I heard the T&R section of YEM I was sold.
Hey man, plenty of people like Nickel back and I can’t stand them. It’s not for everyone. With that being said, I probably wouldn’t waste my time watching or commenting on a nickel back video.

Andrew Johnson Saw my first show in 1990 and by far are one of the best live shows ever to be seen. I have know idea what scale your using to measure ‘’most over-rated’’ band of all time. Everyone is welcome to there own opinion. Maybe you should try a new kids on the block reunion tour ? lol
