One of my favorite sets of all time. The sun started to go down during Tela and all through this Divided Sky. Everybody was settling in for the weekend. Amazing memories from my favorite Phish shows of all time. And we were on the front page of the Plattsburgh newspaper this morning as well. Totally surreal.
Wow thank you for bringing back the memory of the newspaper. I was at Hershey and Plattsburgh as well as New Year's 95 and you're right this was phish at his f****** Peak, and something very special was going on and you could feel it.
If my memory is correct, Trey played the final paused note just as the sun set. It was the most memorable Phish moment of my life and one of the best weekends of my life with my bro.
I had the blessing to see lots of Phish shows from coast to coast in 91-93 with groups of 300-500 audience members who were from all over the country. I lived in Atlanta in those days, and remember being impressed how most of the audience seemed to be from every corner of the U.S. when PHish came to the little theater in my neighborhood. Then audience was always attentive and shared a group mind at most of those shows. By '96 my life went in a new direction (parenthood mainly), and thus I could only wait for the CDs of the Clifford Ball to come in the mail. Looking at this video, it's amazing to see how fast the audience bloomed into a sea of humanity.
My favorite song of theirs. My first seeing it live was at Magnaball during the day set. I literally jumped up and down and screamed. People looked at me like I was crazy. I didn't care.
Thank you for posting this. I was there and most of my memories of the Ball are a bit hazy, but I will never forget the sounds, sights, and how I felt during this Divided Sky.
I lived 3 miles down the road of this show and was 12 years old. I was not allowed to go, I did however listen to some of it on my trampoline in my front yard.
Juan Cortez it is a fantastic part of the song, but every single part/note of this song is fantastic so I can’t say it’s my favorite. Love me some Divided Sky!
Born here in plattsburgh August 15th 1996, my mother wanted to go so bad but listened from my grandparents porch instead, since my grandfather was stationed here at the airforce base.
These Clifford Ball shows were my favorite too, except for a few NYE performances. Did you climb into one of those gyroscope zero gravity thingys they had outside?
I'm so old. I had such an amazing time that whole four-day stretch ( travel and such). I went without tickets, and it was just a free-for-all. Oh to be young again. Fan- fuckin-tastic memories though.
You can just feel the energy ebbing through the band and the crowd when Gordo starts his repeating bass lick as he lays the reverb on more and more and then Trey comes in.... if I were older than 12 at the time I would've been there
Why did i only have to be 5 years old when this epic festival was held. Ive seen phish just about 20 times but ive missed every festival. A phish festival is a dream of mine.
