as a kid i used to see the pictures from the defense expos of a plane with all the rockets, missiles and bombs laid out on static display and thought it could carry all that at once.

Being a former hydraulics maintainer, I can confirm that maintenance would indeed HATE Trigger. So many components would be out of whack from stress and damage. SOOO many red X's to sign.

I remember how excited I was when I first discovered Ace Combat and popped the disc into my PS2. One of the very first screens you would see was their partnerships with the ‘Big Boys’ in combat aviation, like BAE Systems, Lockheed, etc. I knew that I was in for a treat as that kinda licensing doesn’t come cheap, so the publisher must actually give a crap or two to pay for it! So, it’s funny, because ever since the beginning, Ace Combat went out of their way to ensure certain levels of realism that nobody else ever came close to, but they must have realized that they were also not training O-1and O-2s for use on actual aircraft when they get out to the fleet one day. It’s a game, and to make it a game, there has to be some fantasy value, hence the far out storylines, voiceovers, etc. It’s actually a pretty cool combination when you think of it this way, because otherwise, it may just get too boring too quickly! 👌
@@jayrose6312 yeah, the fact that they used real world aircraft made the conflict feel real and made the giant railguns seem possible, looking back it’s absolutely insane but the gameplay and story rocks
3:30 I can only assume the reason for clouds blocking radar is that when the asteroid Ulysses struck the Earth in 1999 it lofted particulates into the air that disrupt radio waves, and that satellite-guided missiles were a workaround for ground-based missile launchers until enough of the dust settled that radars could be used again, albeit in a degraded capacity.

@@M1A2_Abrams_MBT I'd like to say no... But seeing how things have evolved I think I'm gonna have to say yes. AC7 was a great breath for the series, as the previous titles were not exactly.... As good. But AC7 is still somewhat lacking, even tho it's a game you love playing once you discover it.

It's funny how everyone can spot the three strikes on Triggers plane from 100 km, but Count can't tell he's shooting at Full Band from, what, 500 - 1000 meters.
Count probably had an adrenaline rush and wasn’t paying attention
Full band flies a f18e like the enemy-friendlies..the only thing he would have been able to see would indeed be fullbands spare skin which also unfortunately lacks any kind of custom markers only fullbands "strikes" and a ocean symbol, something that also would have been on these other fighters...
I find it interesting that you have such grievances with the clouds, apparently Project Aces (people who made the game) spoke with pilots from the JASDF who said it was something they had occurred when in flight and training, though it is probably exaggerated in the game in order to add a bit more challenge to the game.

I love these reviews. I know this must be incredibly painful for Mover, but it’s comedy gold. We all know Ace Combat is silly, but it’s a guilty pleasure.
Imagine being a millitary pilot but you get bare bones fighter and have to pay for options and ammo for yourself
Your pay for a year wouldn't even cover one component.
That's how their IFF works in the scenario, it got explained in a previous mission. It's this way so the IFF spoofing plot can work (and the whole story of a drone masked as a friendly hornet killing the president and Trigger taking the blame for it)
To bad its a not a hornet drone that shoot down the president. But a F-14D camouflaged as Gargoyle Squadron using their IFF piloted by a Belkan mercenary.
Promotional material about the game state that Georg its resposible for Trigger being convicted
After the cutscene where Gargoyle Squadron attack the Space Elevator a 5th F-14D enter the airspace and start follow the player.
The guy that say "it was Trigger! I saw him!" His voice actor don't correspont to eny of the IUN Squadron members (yes each unnamed pilot as a unique voice) the voice actor for that phrase it's the same as Georg voice actor
i recommend watching "SP MISSION 01, SP MISSION 02, SP MISSION 03" after mission 13, and then move on to mission 15. you'll find out why soon

It's always a treat to hear you comment on Ace Combat's oddities, and those rare moments when it looks relatable. I still hope you'll give Project Wingman another chance (with a different video of someone playing in third person camera and not abusing a high alpha mechanic).

Flying a practice intercept mission as target, the two F-15s lost us when we descended into the clouds when we started an approach into the Dalles in our Cessna 206. MARSA.

There's a cursed mission in a really cult niche game called Airforce Delta Strike where you are for some reason, fighting giant airships that look like 2x4s. You spawn above the cloud layer and if you go under it, you explode. The giant 2x4s hide under the clouds now and then so you can't hit them. If you think Ace Combat is out there, look up AFDS 😂 Featuring giant fans, an elevator that goes to space and flying down a gun barrel while it's firing at you.

so far all I've seen is planes accelerating faster than sidewinders, having infinite fuel and being able to pull infinite Gs and magically grow out missiles

Well, you're being tracked by a satellite that's looking straight down on you, I guess, so none of that radar-dodging design is going to help you much.

"If it's a Hornet, it's an enemy". That's the exact problem: most of Spare Squadron apart from the named characters use the Hornet. The reason why not everyone's using it because this squadron was put together from mothballed planes left over from the previous wars to be basically live shooting range dummies for the enemies.

Honestly wouldn't mind Mover going back to the PS2 Ace Combat games and watching videos of them. I feel Ace Combat 4 would be the most realistic of them in terms of story and maybe radio chatter but of course not 100% realistic. Obviously gameplay wise is arcade like still and being PS2 graphics will be older. Still I would love to see Mover react to Ace Combat 4, 5, and Zero or at least Ace Combat 4.
AC 4 Shattered Skies, AC 5 The Unsung War, and AC Zero are easily the best of the whole AC series. No, the flight mechanics are not sim quality, but compared to most flying games that have the pilot outside the aircraft, swooping in circles around the jet (H.A.W.X., which I actually smashed with a framing hammer before taking it back to GameStop. I didn't want my money back, I just wanted to let them know how shitty that game was for anyone who has ever actually flown an airplane), or the game has the goddam rudder pedals hooked to the stick, so to perform looping rolls, for example, you pull the stick back and to the right or left while simultaneously clicking down on the left thumb stick and rotating it, or they got the stick reversed from real airplanes so you push forward on it to climb and pull back to dive ...
No. Just no. At least AC gets the basic controls right.🤣

The SOD or "Stand-off-dispenser" is a self-guided bomb that locks onto targets then flies along a pre-set path and releases several smaller bombs along said path-so basically a guided cluster bomb.

It depends on if stealth is considered a factor or not. I think a lot of people forget how stealthy our aircraft really are when considering these fake engagements.

Now I could just be misremembering, But I've heard the whole "Stay in the clouds to block Radar" thing explained like this:
In the Ace Combat (StrangeReal) universe, during their equivalent of the Cold War era, there was a Fuck-Off-Huge Asteroid that broke apart and rained down debris onto the planet.
Most of the major nations managed to come out relatively unscathed due to developing equally Fuck-Off-Huge "Anti-Orbital Defense Facilities" and such that managed to break most of the debris into smaller chucks that would burn up in atmosphere, with the side effect of protecting most of the minor nations as well.
Some of the minor nations however weren't as lucky, still taking hits because either the facilities missed or because they were just out of range to be protected.
So that debris landing and kicking up tons of dust PLUS all the debris that was caught and burned up in atmosphere created enough dust in the air that is carried by clouds and air currents that it effectively acts as natural Chaff.
Whether this all adds up from a scientific standpoint, I have no clue. But it's how it was explained to me.

Ulysses struck after the Usean Coup, not the during Osean-Yuktobanian cold war, since both were allies by the Belkan War in 1994, and Ulysses made planetfall in 1999
Of the notable major cities hit on Usea, one was hit in a major nation (Farbanti in Erusea, after a Stonehenge turret was hit), and one in a mid-major (St Ark) since most of Usea were mid-major nations under the recently dissolved UAF. Anea was worse off because they couldn't prepare their defenses when the projected landfall was expanded to that continent

You should be hired on as an advisor for the next Ace Combat game. As much as they try to get things right, they get so much wrong and they could really benefit from your personal experience. Just reading the first chapter of Spectre, you bring a lot of technical expertise and experience into a narrative without sounding cheesy and cringy like these jabbers.
If you see this through to the end, you should do Project Wingman next. Everything is unlicensed there but you'll know a Tomcat when you see it.

Satellite/GPS guidance might not be too out there, since they're used for things like the JDAM.
Maybe in this world, satellites would use IR imagery to plot a GPS coordinate and relative altitude based on the size of the plane to guide in active radar missiles. Since that amount of data transfer would take time, it explains sense why it takes a few seconds to get locked and how the clouds would help, since they would mask the IR.
As much as I love the game for the amazing music, gameplay, and a story that is completely insane, I highly enjoy watching you tear it to shreds. Please keep doing these.

Especially to some of the crazy super weapons (most of which were created to destroy meteors)
I love when I would nose over the mountain ranges trying to evade the satellite missiles and push down near vertical and some how the wind/turbulence would somehow push me back up. Full afterburner and I'm gaining altitude and still maintaining consistent forward movement. You just have to turn off your brain and forget about physics.
I know this series isnt realistic obviously but i still love it and i love your reactions to anything Ace Combat. please keep them coming. (PS- be sure to watch any cutscenes too please)
