Items will be up for sale on my website April 6th at 6pm cst. juliesdesignsandsigns.squarespace.com/ First Wednesday of every month I'll announce the giveaway next Wednesday on the community tab.
Those love is figurines were big in the 70’s my aunt collected them back then. The “ love is” sayings used to be a comic in black and white it was published in newspapers they were usually just a one frame cartoon picture with “love is” … and then a caption like “ love is … when you hug me just because you love me” or something sentimental like that. My aunt would cut them out of the newspaper and hang them all around her room. Once the comics became popular they came out with the little statues, t-shirts and other memorabilia. Thank you for sharing your treasures this brought back some nice memories of my aunt.
The girl statue with the BIG EYES--My sister had some of those in her room. I think they were popular in the late 60's early 70's. She graduated in '73, so it would have been in her room '73 at the latest.
Try as I may I cannot find any other thrifter, flipper , blogger that is as clever or talented as you are, you have the best taste and create crisp clean and classy items,
I STILL use my dustpan like that! Lol. I’ve had it for 35 years. The little girl with big eyes is from the ‘70’s. I love the cabinet! Love the rounded tops. Love the silver pot and the silver plate box. I can’t believe you didn’t get the cloche. But I’m so glad you got that hand mirror. Loved that!
All those tobacco sticks almost made me drool 🤤,ha ha! I love making tiny 4 sided fences for around my Christmas trees hinge the fence together so you can move it around how you like, also they make amazing headboards, put the tobacco sticks in your flower beds( make tiny fences there too,I can make all kinds of goodies with the tobacco sticks, and that Junk Place( Kilgors) was AMAZING,it would take a week to physically go through that first building and be able to see each and every item ( I LOVE THOSE TYPES OF STORES) thank you for this haul you took us on,it was so AMAZING!
Julie the picture you showed that had a candle 🕯 and a either book 📖 or Bible, my daddy would use me and my brother as the models for his portrait studio. He would set a candle on a dish and a Bible on a old table and me setting their as if I was ready the Bible by candle light it was so pretty it took me back to my childhood.. I want give my age I’m old as dirt lol just kidding... I enjoy these types of videos...
I think the cabinet is what they used to call a water closet - the round in the middle of the top shelf is used for those water basins and the pitcher full of water is usually stored on the bottom shelf. The small wood thing you weren't sure about is an old fashioned plate holder - the two bumps up from hold the front part of the plate and the tall spindle in the back keep the plate from falling over the scoop in the middle is so you can slide the cup in there too display a cup and saucer...
You should wear the hats! Americans don't wear hats like they used to. If you lived in the UK or Europe you would be wearing a hat for church, out in the yard, lunch with your friends, and shopping at flea markets. I just subbed your channel and I'm really enjoying it. I have been using Big Lots drop Cloths for drapes for years. These older ones actually look like linen. "MOTHER IN LAW" is a hoot. She's better than a singing fish!
You always get the best stuff for your hauls. OMG! I love that mother in law picture. I’ve never seen anything like that before lol, it’s hilarious. TFS your hauls and shopping with all of us.. since I’ve been watching your shopping videos each time I go into the thrift stores I’ve been coming home with different things than I’d normally come home with and I’ve noticed I’ve been looking at stuff differently and I seem to be finding a lot more things, I think it’s just I’m looking at stuff so different that I’m buying stuff that I’d never looked at before. That’s thanks to you I think Julie. I think I’ve been listening to what you’ve been saying and I can see things differently. At least I’ve been able to find stuff that I want to redo when I get home now though. Have a great weekend.
THE RUSTED WIRE BASKET..... ROLLED TOWELS, CONTAINER OF CUTE SOAPS AND BATH SALTS WITH A FEW SPRIGS OF EUCALYPTUS OR LAVENDER. ALSO.... Three OR four different sizes of glass jars, vases containers with florals..
Just watched this post. Several years ago, I had a canning rack and several blue ball jars. I put it up on top of a hutch (rack filled with blue jars)...I then took those little fairy lights from up behind the cabinet and filled the jars. It was lovely and sold the first day in the booth. I've often thought of doing it again, but just haven't seemed to keep the canning rack & enough jars at one time.
The little wood stands are for displaying cup and saucer sets. They are probably from the late forties or early fifties. They could be fun for displaying lots of things.
Those little kid statues are from the 70's they're made by R&W Berrie Co they were like a 70's version of precious moments. I bought one for my husband with a little boy and girl in a firetruck. Everything you bought is so cool great hauls
Julie the scissors you found Are Chinese scissors or bonsai ..scissors used for shaping a bonsai tree. I also love old scissors and bolts of twine and thread and yarn. Love your channel. I learn a lot from you.
I think the item you picked up..... but didn't buy is an Antique One Gallon Stoneware Water Crock...girl, I have one and it makes a great "vase" or just looks good on its own...on my kitchen island... everyone asks where I got it ...(thrifting) ..they are (rare) in our area. I have yet to see another one ...! You always find the coolest old stuff, and do amazing things that I would never think of, that's why I love watching your videos...! Bless You and keep making us smile!!!
my suggestions…….Put wood on the iron candlesticks and then they can be used for LED candles without the spike in the middle. Return the swan to terracotta and white wax it. Good finds.
5:22 Looks like wood plate stands. You could hang the hats on your bedroom wall, another TH-camr did this & looked great. Hats clustered together no pegs or racks used. Great finds.
#granny. I love the give away!! Julie, you always find amazing gems. You have excellent taste. I love watching your channel. Have a Blessed Day. Gloria
I would love to have an antique shop like that near me (With reasonable pricing)!! You make everything look so easy and I love your ideas and inspirations. Love, love, love thrifting with you! AH, go back and get the CROCK!!! : )
That mug is Phalzgragh. (Can’t spell it!) I got married in 1976 and they were my everyday dishes. I have it all. Don’t use it anymore but I do love it.
*Julie, I loved the 2 straw hats 👒 - especially the one with the silk flowers - would look great in my garden-themed bedroom in those colors. Also loved the hand mirror with the porcelain back - I've seen many mirrors like that style, but NEVER ANY with LILY OF THE VALLEY and little pink roses 🌹 💕🍃 painted on the porcelain...SWOON❣️💋💝💕 Loved the BOOKS, the metal canning basket, the CROCKS, the GREEN-HANDLED FLOUR SIFTER, the scissors (I own one just like it❣️), the china teacup 🍵 and saucer wooden holders for display, the FURNITURE...and my Mom has that copper dustpan (for at least 50+ years), but hers has a curved "plate" that covers over the front curved part of the dustpan, right below the handle (looks like yours used to, but fell off). Hers has a white painted background and it's covered in a variety of Spring flowers - red and yellow tulips, 🌷 pink roses, 🌹 bluebells, and white daisies with yellow centers. It STILL looks like BRAND NEW and beautiful - except the white rubber strip at the edge is showing some wear - because Mom ALWAYS rinses AND wipes DRY the dustpan before she hangs it back up on the hook, putting it away!!! Growing up, we were taught to buy the best quality item we could afford, take good care of the item to make it last as long as possible, and if it breaks, try your best to repair it to extend its life before throwing it away and buying a replacement - because it will probably be made of an inferior quality, by that time, LOL‼️😁🤣😀* *I COULD SHOP AT KILGORE'S FROM OPEN 'TIL CLOSE - that's why your suggestion 🤔 to bring beverages and snacks was BRILLIANT, 'CAUSE YOU GOTTA HAVE FUEL FOR YOUR BODY TO SUSTAIN YOU THE WHOLE TIME YOU SHOP‼️🙄😉*
I loved that old crock you saw at Kilgore and I loved the blue swan. I wonder if you could repair the chip and then white wax the whole thing to tone down the blue. I love all your haul items especially the bookends of the boy and girl reading so cute, and the red basket too, the shape and design were beautiful. The red was not the right color though, and I wonder if you will have bleed through if you tried to paint it white even with shellac? I wish it was that beautiful aged brown that baskets get. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!!! It would be cool if you could find a bunch of old keys and locks, an old trunk at Kilgore’s too, and old brass things
So so much to love in this group of hauls! I LOVE LOVE #Granny. She would provide many hours of fun. The swan has to have her beak fixed so painting her probably would work best. I’d paint her that pale green or blue and white wax over. So sweet of you to get Teresa the little dresser. I know she’ll love it. The mirror is so pretty glad you picked it up. The little girl figure with the black eyes is from the 70s comic strip called “I love you this much…” Every one showed a different scenario; some sweet; some exasperating. My sister claimed they all. I don’t remember the creepy black eyes though. That oval wooden “tray” would make a beautiful small table top. Can’t believe you passed on it, especially when you always advise us not to sweat the price and get a pile price. Totally agree with that btw. The bookends are very vintage but super sweet. You got so many things that don’t need any work which deprives is of seeing you work your magic! I think the owls would look great mounted on a piece of vintage fabric in a rectangle frame. Excited to see how your living room piece turns out. Hope you’ll share the transformation with us. TFS as always.
Gosh, now I saw your coppee dustpan. I actually have a couple that I actually use. i used a Dollar Tree dustpan to replace the lip....I have 1 in the kitchen & laundry with an old wisk broom...not on the wall, but resting against the trash can (also old painted tin) ready to use & cute!
I’m in tears right now 🤣😂🤣 I cant even believe someone actually made that Granny & you found it!! Absolutely hilarious 😆 I love your idea about making the candle holders into risers. You always have such amazing ideas with wood & metals. If the drawing still on I would love to get granny & pass her along for some family laughs #Granny 👵🏻🤣👵🏻
So many wonderful items and possibilities. Looking forward to what you do with the piece for your living room. Saw Granny on Facebook and Wryn has grown so much and was so cute dancing. That was a lot of exercise! # Granny..
@Julie The big eyes figurines…those are R & W Berries figurines from the early 1970s. I had a bunch of them. Some were called Paula Berries too. Or Paulas.
You really got a lot of great stuff! I especially liked the hutch for your living room. You should go back to Kilgore's for the crock and flour sifter. ❣
Those little "copper" baby shoes, think, are real baby shoes. In my family back from around 1860 until the 1930s, they would take a baby shoe and have it bronzed. My grandmother had a whole collection of them from all the family members.
Yes. I was born in 1955 and my mother had all our baby shoes (1 pair for each of us that is) bronzed. I still have mine. The shoes were always leather.
The whole pile of oak wooden items to me look like plate holders.. they look very nice. Just added you the other day and the first time to watch a posting after I subscribed to your channel. Low and behold we are kinda neighbors I'm in Nesbit... Love your channel so far.
*@Deborah Branum and @Julie's Signs and Designs...I believe those wooden pieces with the 2 upright dowels and the little cut-outs in the front are china teacup and saucer displays, because I am a china teacup 🍵 and saucer collector and I have some similar to those. The cup rests partially on the indent of the wooden display piece and partially on the piece of furniture you are displaying the cup and saucer on...the saucer stands upright behind the teacup, leaning against the dowel rods at the top and the teacup at the bottom at a slanted angle...kind of like displaying a plate in one of those standing plate holders, if you understand what I'm trying hard to describe to you, LOL!🙄🤣 Hope this was helpful. 😉*
Fun day thrifting with you. Love the hand mirror, the mantle clock, and the cherub bathroom soap dish & too many other items to mention. Great day junking. TFS Julie
Cutting boards, ladders, magazine racks, a large wooden sewing basket, bread boxes, etc. TFS I love the crafts you make with the IODs. Great video! God Bless & much success!!!
I absolutely love the metal candle stands from goodwill and you should definitely put a wood round on the top!! I need them if you sell them bc they are AMAZING! And the old books always get me.
Try the paper clay to rebuild the swans beak after you take it down to terracotta and before you seal it. But seal it first with something that won’t yellow, then white wax it.
I love copper pots and pans, I love the vintage Scissors you bought. I’m always looking for vintage kitchen things they are always my favorite. I also love old crocks, painting, wooden things, baskets, I love anything unique and rare. I love your things and what you do with them. I also enjoy to watch your hauls, I enjoy to go with you on fb and watch you thrift or go to estate sale. You inspire me to more of it. Keep up the great work! ♥️♥️♥️
I saw the mice when you were looking around... I'm glad you picked them up. My opinion the swan should be white with some color as distressing. I think it would look good with a moss green dry bushed on.
I found a whole box of the player piano paper rolls at the GW! (I sell them in my Etsy shop: Everyday Cookies Signs). I love using them as table runners, etc.
I can’t wait until you do your upcycle to the player piano music roll. I have several and I also wanted to make some sort of wall decor and am anxious to see your idea. Also I love how you think out of the box. I would have never thought of upcycling the canning jar rack. Great idea.
Those little figurines are from the 1970s and were very popular. We got our mom the World's Greatest Mom one when we were kids. I think she may have had a World’s Greatest Nurse one, too. They're Russ Berrie & Co figurines - Google them and you'll see how many there are out there with all different sayings. You can also search Wallace Berrie or R & W Berrie. Sorry if someone else already answered and I'm repeating ... I didn't want to have to read through 150+ other comments! 😊
You have the best finds and reactions to everything I just love it and all the rusty crusty lol and absolutely #granny I about peed my pants when I saw it on the FB
I love all of your videos. We usually come through Hernando on the way to Memphis. I would love to go to ya'lls bins & Kilgore's. I'm sorry, but I don't want "Granny" in my house either, LOL.
Julie, go back and get the flower sister. That was there with the green handle and some of those copper pots you meant. You would like to buy those anyways. O, you need to go back and get those
You find some awesome items. I love your videos. I believe the roll-top jewelry box is actually called a men's valet. It would be used for men to store their cufflinks tye tacks and watches.
*@JJ Callan and @ Julie's Signs and Designs...yes, JJ Callen, you are correct, ❤ it is a man's valet to be used exactly as you described. Julie, maybe your husband would like to use it? After all, he would also have room to stash a few of his favorite Matchbox Cars 🚗 inside it, too, along with his watch and any other jewelry that he may take off at night before going to sleep! 😄😁😉 Hahaha‼️*
I really wish I lived close enough to make a trip to Kilgore's. I could spend days in that place. I can't believe you're sending Granny away-I'm sure Wryn will miss her. :) Love that piece of furniture and a great haul, as always!!
Favorite find would be the books without the binding. So old and tattered. Anxious to see how you redo the mantle clock. If you ever see wooden smaller pulleys, I so want one. Not a huge one. Pne that could be mailed in a lsrge USPS priority mail box. I would love the old rusty one, but the weight of mailing, not feasible. I also liked those 3 oval filigree frames. Great haul. Wrryn saying blahblahblahblahbla. So darn cute. Enjoy your week. #granny I have the perfect person I would give it to. Would be so fun to win this so I could gift it. Lol makes me laugh just thinking about it.
What a great haul! My mom (who’s 94) had a dustpan exactly like the one you found. I wish I still had it! My grandmother had a player piano in her living room & I was so fascinated by it, as a child. I love your idea of decorating with the piano rolls. I also had one of the copper potpourri pots. I collect old books to use in my decor & love to find them at the bins! I enjoyed reminiscing while seeing your items! Thanks for sharing!
Wow Julie you found awesome goodies!!!! I love old barns filled with treasures!!! I agree with you that sometimes when we don't know what the item is your imagination really works. But I know we love the same style when you bought a rusted dust pan!!! Lol You could use clay or glue to rebuild the swan beak and made your gold rub to cover it??! I love the color of it too. Fun video.
I think what you're calling a jewlery box (the wood roll top box), is a mens dresser top valet. Meant to hold his billfold, watch, glasses, cufflinks, tie clip, etc...
I would spend HOURS wandering through Kilgore's!! I would be in soooo much trouble lol!! It's so fun watching you work your Julie magic to turn your house into a home!!
Items will be up for sale on my website April 6th at 6pm cst. juliesdesignsandsigns.squarespace.com/

I'll announce the giveaway next Wednesday on the community tab.
The jewelry box is a mans valet. A drop zone.

Yes. It was from a comic strip that featured those characters in various situations but the caption always said “I love you this much.”
All those tobacco sticks almost made me drool 🤤,ha ha! Knowing there are people who love old, crusty, rusty things is very comforting. I like everything you purchase.
Me too, except that poinsettia 😂 But I love that Julie could see it somehow as useful and decorative ❣️
I have a pair of scissors like those.
Blue pitcher is the brother of the red in the Koolaid commercials.
ROLLED TOWELS, CONTAINER OF CUTE SOAPS AND BATH SALTS WITH A FEW SPRIGS OF EUCALYPTUS OR LAVENDER.
ALSO.... Three OR four different sizes of glass jars, vases containers with florals..
That wire basket that is for canning...
Another REALLY COOL thing that you could do with it....
Turn it upside down and make a lampshade out of it...

What an awesome place to shop for treasures. If you still have Granny, I think my son in law would get a kick out of it.

I use old clocks as picture frames. Pop out the clock guts and it is sooooo cute!
I have always wanted old white ice skates. I would hang year round but I’d add greens for holiday decor.
Julie the scissors you found Are Chinese scissors or bonsai ..scissors used for shaping a bonsai tree. I also love old scissors and bolts of twine and thread and yarn. Love your channel. I learn a lot from you.
I have been watching you since the very first time you posted and you are still my favorite TH-camr and I still wanna live beside you 😂
I think the item you picked up..... but didn't buy is an Antique One Gallon Stoneware Water Crock...girl, I have one and it makes a great "vase" or just looks good on its own...on my kitchen island... everyone asks where I got it ...(thrifting) ..they are (rare) in our area. Return the swan to terracotta and white wax it.
Good finds.
That hat reminded me of gone with the wind . I loved the boy and girl book ends
That place would keep there for days. Loved the little Cooper bowls.
Canning basket would look great with towels or blanket rolled up in.
Yes, put some feet on the canning basket and it would look great as a planter holder.
5:22 Looks like wood plate stands.
You could hang the hats on your bedroom wall, another TH-camr
did this & looked great. Hats clustered together no pegs or racks used.
Great finds.
Fun store The green sifter -rustic veg cutter-scissors u should buy
I really like the little mice. I saw them on the tour and you didnt touch them and I said, oh pick them up and behold you did. kinda cool
I wish I had a Kilgore type place near me! Love it when you go there!
Wow!…Those little figurines where famous in the 70’s I remember them when I was little haven’t seen them in years! It’s fun to go shopping with you!
They were called "Big Eyes". W R Berries Co.
Yeah, they're 70's. I grew up with those. Thought they were creepy then and still think they're creepy now.
you and your sea creatures lol! Reminds me of your mushroom garland! 🤣
The wooden bucket has white pine cones and green paint id use it at christmas and put some appropriate flowrs and greenery.
#granny.
I love the give away!!
Julie, you always find amazing gems.
You have excellent taste.
I love watching your channel.
Have a Blessed Day.
Gloria
I had such a belly laugh when you showed granny. You are hysterical! So much fun to watch!
Hi Julie..wow...you got some awesome finds, ur the best at picking out the most fabulous things. Luv shopping with U. Have a great day.😀💟🙋♀️💐
I can’t wait to see your makeover on the player piano roll. I have two right now that I’ve been waiting to use.
Those wooded holders was for pictures and paintings

Thrifting videos are on favorite. Love love love. 😍
You need to show your soap dish to Vintage Bombshell. She collects those dishes and would look perfect in her remodeled bathroom
OMGosh!!! That’s my exact dustpan that I’ve been using for 43 years!!!🤣
You really got a lot of great stuff! I especially liked the hutch for your living room. You should go back to Kilgore's for the crock and flour sifter. ❣
I'll take the picture in that frame Julie..!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! 😁
"The mother-in-law" sign is funny 🤣 😂
I think the canning baskets could be made into cool light fixtures.
TFS Julie
I love the candle picture, in fact I love everything
Cutting boards, ladders, magazine racks, a large wooden sewing basket, bread boxes, etc. TFS I love the crafts you make with the IODs. Great video! God Bless & much success!!!
oh wow those bookends are bigger than I thought they were. You snagged a lot of fun stuff. Love estate sales!
Oh my goodness I need to come vacation in your town….I would love to go junking here!
Ohhhh my goodness!! I’m a school teacher and I want those precious little kid bookends!!! Seriously!!!
Bread boxes, magazine racks, platters, rolling pins, ladders, etc. are just some of my favorite things! TFS Take Care & God Bless
Omgosh Julie I love so many of the things!!! How fun!
Loved what you thrifted, yes add wood to the candlesticks. Theresa will live the small furniture you got her. #granny
I love all of your videos. We usually come through Hernando on the way to Memphis. I would love to go to ya'lls bins & Kilgore's. I'm sorry, but I don't want "Granny" in my house either, LOL.
I love that candle picture love it
Ilove all the things you got from the estate sale, love hashtag granny love her in my home.
Julie, go back and get the flower sister. That was there with the green handle and some of those copper pots you meant. You would like to buy those anyways. O, you need to go back and get those
Love the bird cage with bird
Loved the silver pot you got, the details on it is beautiful. Granny made me laugh my grandkids would get a kick out of it. # granny
That piece is awesome. You did the right thing
what a haul! If I can't shop I love someone else finding treasures!
I have a metal basket I keep bathroom towels in it 😇❤️💖
I really wish I lived close enough to make a trip to Kilgore's. I could spend days in that place. I can't believe you're sending Granny away-I'm sure Wryn will miss her. :) Love that piece of furniture and a great haul, as always!!
Very fun video! Wish I could spend a couple of days at Kilgores! I think it’s hilarious that you are giving away “granny”! I also DO NOT want it😂😂😂
Favorite find would be the books without the binding.
#granny
I have the perfect person I would give it to. Would be so fun to win this so I could gift it. Lol makes me laugh just thinking about it.
OMG giving the old lady away hahahaha 🤣
Hi, Julie! Great Finds!
Wow you did great... I love the boy and girl bookends...
Lol
You could use clay or glue to rebuild the swan beak and made your gold rub to cover it??!
