McVay, O'Connell, LaFleur, and Sean Payton are exceptions, not the rule. Even Andy Reid didn’t achieve huge success until he got to Kansas City (having MaHomes helps). But being a head coach is very different from being a brilliant play-caller. A great head coach needs strong leadership, the ability to build a winning culture, and a talent for motivating players. They must also manage a diverse staff and make tough decisions under pressure. Communication and vision are just as important as game strategy and Xs and Os. Why do you think a lot of OCs struggle when transitioning to HCs?
You're missing the point about the offense vs defense. If you have trouble scoring in this league you lose. Unless you have the #1 or #2 defense in the league, you lose. If you have an average defense but can score a lot of points you have a chance to win even if it's a shootout. Points wins. Obviously your defense can't be awful either but you need to be able to score.
Thank you for having this podcast! 🎯
Over the last year, this became my favorite Bears podcast.
Just hire offensive minded head coach, and stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room.

A Bears OC being hired away to be a head coach?
Wouldn't that signify a success?
The only candidates that are serious are Johnson, Vrabel, Glenn, and Shaw. Pep Hamilton would be a great OC.
It is that black and white that we need an offensive minded head coach. We've been down the other road and it fails every single time. EVERY TIME.
I like Joe Brady
The reason we are scared of losing a good/great OC is because the Bears owners do things the wrong way almost all the time.
