    His voice sounds so fresh, I thought he was just out of school; but he's well into his career, and has kept that great tone.

    I am sure that had TH-cam been around in the 70s and 80s, there would have been people here criticising Thomas Allen...AFAIC when I hear this, I want to hear the swaggering Figaro delivering a great comic aria, mediated through an artist, not some human midi file (as so many competition singers seem to be). And Figaro is what I hear (and see). Bravo!

    Tu ne peux pas savoir le plaisir que nous avons eu d'écouter ces extraits de concert. S'il y a eu un seul avantage à ce long confinement force est de constater que le repos que tu as donné à ta voix lui a permis de retrouver le velours qu'on lui connaissait . Si tu nous permet un conseil, nous croyons sincèrement que tu dois exploiter le registre grave de ta voix. L'extrait de Faust que tu as chanté récemment en témoigne. Mon professeur de chant ne cessait de me faire chanter des airs pour basse alors que je m'étais présenté chez elle en auditionnant avec ''dalla sua pace'' . Avec le temps, ma voix s'est assombrie comme elle l'avait pressentie. Dans un autre ordre d'idée, est-ce que tu connais la Seigneurie du triton?.

    Fantastic. I am hanging out for another solo album, though. Hiding that unique lyrical vocal behind an orchestra seems such a shame. You could be an Orpheus or a David, yet you also manage to sound thoroughly modern. Nga mihi nui from Aotearoa

    Mi piace moltissimo come canta Haëndel ma Mozart proprio no. Troppi abbellimenti. Mozart richiede una precisione e un rigore assoluti. Peccato, perché ha una potenza notevole, un timbro scuro e nasale che mi ricorda Corelli

    • @DiomedesDioscuro
      @DiomedesDioscuro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@philippesly Wow, I'm quite impressed by your request! Most fans can't stand any criticism about their singers!
      I'm afraid that, not being a singer myself, I won't be able to convey a very precise critic that would help you understand what I dislike. But I can say that I'd prefer a purer singing line, and the avoidance of variations that don't add anything to the part. And, most important, I think that all modern singers should reconsider their signing technique and try to get closer to the quality of past times singers. They were not superhumans, you could do as well as they did, and I'm afraid you, you all I mean, are far from that.
      I really appreciate a singer being interested in criticism instead of just discarding it haughtily. That gives a hope of going back to theatres someday.

      @@philippesly I'd say for starters, this is unsupported singing, closer to crooning than actual operatic technique. A lack of vibrancy, line, and connection to the body and breath. In the hall, it is frequently inaudible since there is a lack of chiaro-scuro balance. The sliding around on the notes is not just poor stylistically, but it sounds sloppy, lazy and has no nobility, sometimes sounding almost drunk. Why do you scoop and slide all over the lines instead of supporting each note? There is no chance of a visceral sound as the larynx is unstable. The vowels are mushy and the thus the diction suffers. 'Si canta come si parla' as the Italians say, and this is not how one "parla's", in proper Italian.
      That's where I would start.
