Jeremy Lin really helped his Linsanity teammates out, including making Novakaine one of the top 3-point shooters during those days, at a percentage of 47.2%, making 133 of 282 attempts. That is why Novak quickly answered that Jeremy was his favorite Knicks teammate.
The team went from a boring iso ball Melo, all about me, to spread the floor, getting everyone involved, and just a good fun brand of basketball. I remember players like Jared Jeffries, Shumpert, Novak, Fields, and Chandler, all executed their roles on the court and made the game exciting because of team ball and they were winning. Once Melo came back, it was all gone and became the iso Melo show again. Basically that was when I stopped watching the Knicks again.
Perfectly said! The last time I was that excited to watch the Knicks was during Linsanity time. Melo has retired so maybe if Knicks bring Lin back we might get that excitement again.
The Knicks had a 15 of 23 loss record (or 8 of 23 win record) before the 7-game win streak with Jeremy, starting on February 4. That was what made the fans see that Jeremy was the player they had been waiting for. And both Lin & Linsanity came out of nowhere. And all this while Jeremy was still a rookie, not a veteran. We also have to remember that the Knicks & their fans were starving to death for 10 years prior, because they had no post-seasons 8 out of 10 years before Jeremy came along. Then, when Lin left, the Knicks only had 1 good season after, in 2012-2013, due to riding the insanity of Linsanity the season before, but then after that, they had another near-decade 7 seasons straight of no playoffs again, not until 2020. If anything in the least, Jeremy's divine mission in NY was to bring the Knicks back up to 0.500 so that they could at least have another chance at a playoff because of the 10-year drought they had before. Lin did the same thing in Charlotte, they too had 1 decade prior of mostly no playoffs 8 out of 10 years & then after Lin left the Hornets, they had another 7 years straight of no post-seasons, even up to this day, even when Kemba was still on their team. When Jeremy was with the Hornets, they still lost in the playoffs, sure, but their loss record was 3 of 4. But during the last 2 previous seasons they had playoffs, their loss record was 0 of 4, both times. Jeremy has said that the Hornets was his best days in the NBA, even though it was only for 1 season. Today in recent times, Lin has posted another 38-point high game playing in Taiwan, just as he had a 38 with NY & a 38 with Houston.
Linsanity might be short lived but it was one of the most inspiring moment in NBA. I can still remember the feeling watching Lin, and the amazing chemistry the NY Team has when they’re playing. They move the ball well and everyone shines.
Novak is about $18-20M richer because of Jeremy. Novak was a fringe NBA player, and during Linsanity Novak was one of the shooters they put in for Jeremy to kick out to, and Novak was nailing them. Like a lot of fringe NBA players, Novak had a deadly shot, but he was a liability on defense. That's why he was never much more than an end of bench guy.
What's funny is that everyone wants to know how it was to play with Jeremy Lin. No one ever asks how it was to play with Melo. I'm not sure I've heard a good thing said about Melo from former teammates. It's almost like the media is afraid to ask that question. Everyone seems effusive in praise when they talk about Lin.
Too many egos and race lookers. Lin was only 23 when this happened, still a young player in the league and never had a comfortable situation until Brooklyn. And then he suffers unfortunate injury luck despite being healthy when he was being misused and abused on other franchises.
I, with everyone of Lin's supporter, pray everyday that he would finally get that NBA team contract. I mean, at this point, any team that finally decides to give Lin a shot, would impact big for their franchise, in *every* aspect possible. News report make a headlight, fans all over the world eyes on you (and I mean it ALL OVER THE WORLD), low risk high reward contract, reputation change and anything else in business perspective. Like, what else can you ask? Give this man one last season, and you'll see the difference, for your business. Tho, I got some information that Lin finally gave up. Any further info on that?
Do you mean giving up returning to the NBA? Yes, it's likely that Lin gave up. Look at that debacle & mess when the NBA finally brought him back 2 years ago, but instead they brought him back into the minors G-League. WTF? Why would you bring a 10-year NBA veteran into the G-League? That is shameful to the shameless NBA. I don't care if this was a paperwork error or contractual clause or what, it was never right they put him there. They should have returned him to the majors to be playing with Steph Curry as teammates again. That would have made huge headlines & hype, much like what you said. Stats & metrics are not the only measurements of an athlete, but also inspiration, motivation & real hype. Anyway, of course, with grace, & some desperation, Lin accepted the G-League. But it still was not right, a veteran stuck in the NBA minor league. And not just some player veteran, but a veteran who had his name put in the dictionary, in magazines & also globally. I even heard from a person in Ireland who never watches basketball who knows about Linsanity.
@Rob webnoid they didn't even pick him after proving himself at G league that he was a still a top player. 😢 How many NBA vet are willing to walk on that path that J lin was willing to go through just to be playing in the game he loved and was born to play. I hope this gets mentioned time aftrr time because its a freakin disgrace from the sport.
Linsanity was Hoosier High School games when it happened! You felt the defense, the hustle and commaderie between the teammates; until Melo ball returned!
Jeremy Lin made the rest of his team better wherever he went. Heck, he even got J.R. Smith to pass the ball. Unfortunately, the star players don't like it when they're not the leader, and the coaches acquiesce to the star players.
I enjoyed it it was definitely something out of a movie. But it’s not how good you are right now it’s how long you’re good for as Sinatra told Tyson lol
@@yummytummy88 the guy that put a end to the hype up overrated pg we had lin ain't no brunson n jus say u don't watch basketball or was born last year 😆
Lin made everyone great during his run...team ball baby! I wasn't even a Knicks fan and I started tuning in when Knicks play. Team play was fun to watch then Melo eff things up lol😂
What a time! I remember everyone in NYC knew who Jeremy Lin was even if they had never watched a game in there life.

🧢 lin had one good week of play until Mario Chalmers force him into 8 turnover n like 6 points no double team either lin never been the same after
Tyson chandler numbers went up crazy cause of Lin
Novak was shooting the lights out in the 2011-12 season before Linsanity which happened in February towards the end of the season.
@@lettalkknicks TBH cuz melo's back, he needs to pass the ball after dribbling through the half court, this is not his playing style
@@lettalkknicksno double team? Nah they trapped him constantly and double teamed him whenever he drove, did you actually watch?

My favorite time as a Knicks fan
The way Jeremy speaks. Only truth and sincerity.
God bless you LIN GREAT HUMAN AND VERY PROFESSIONAL MAN I GOT A LOT OF RESPECT FOR THIS MAN
I was there in NY when it happened. It was awesome! The NYPost deserves a shoutout. Seeing the cover every morning was part of it.
Great times, great times....
Lin was the brightest star and he elevated the whole team.
🧢🧢🧢 dude got shut down by Chalmers lin ain't no Jalen brunson
Starks the dunk and Larry Johnson 4point and linsanity 3 of the best moments of Knicks History.
Steve novak was a cold blooded 3 point shooter
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer, more humble guy

I got serious into basketball when the Big 3 formed in Miami. I started paying attention to NBA. When Melo came to NY thats why i became a Knicks fan.
