Thats a sweet running little V8, 242 cubes, 250 hp stock in the 1990 '' LS 400 '' , plenty of air going in and coming out with 4 valves per cylinder . Road and track said they hit it out of the Ball park with that car. One still sets in my driveway to this day.
Lenard Hatton only problem is ot needs valve readjustments every so often (5-6 years😂) which isnt even that big of a diffy. To have some balls on fun i wouldbt take a m3 or anything else over my 1991 ls400💕💕💕💕💕
My only issue with the UZ engines is the placement of the power steering pump and alternator, a leaking power steering pump would ruin the alternator if you don't catch it in time which would suck because then you'll have to replace both, I recently got an LS400 that has been sitting around for months and I was replacing the alternator so I could be able to drive it home and that's when I noticed all these issues, still doesn't stop me from wanting to fix it up though
@@Dunki113 Say you wanted to swap the engine into something that has manual steering. Would it be good to simply stick and extra tensioner or pulley in the pump's place?

This is my dream car right here, Mk. 3 with a 1uz swap, I've got a list of cars I always wanted to swap one of these UZ engines into and this is number 2 on my list, my number 1 is an old first gen celica liftback model with one of these engines in it

I have to ask! What exhaust set-up/ spec are you using? I just finished my 1uz exhaust set up for my ke70. Went with 1 5/8" primaries into a 2.25" collector, 2.25" X pipe to 2.5" tips on each side of the car. I dont think it'll sound as smooth as yours (especially since its all straight pipe throughout), but at least I might have a better idea of what to do if ever i find a way to fit resos/mufflers underneath the car.
Public road and it's a winding mountain road with other motorist on it. It's not like the driver delivers fresh baked pies every morning with a cup of water as a training tool and zooms downhill because he wants to go home early to get a bit more Zs before go to school.
When you realise there is a Japanese 32 valve 4l v8 DOHC engine that wasn't a performance engine which is more reliable (maybe not with power, but this block is almost as strong as a 2j)
There is the northstar 4.6l if that's what you are referring to. While im a gm guy, you could easily obtain two 1uz engines for the price of one northstar. And they were known for having multiple issues, which is why they are not nearly as popular as the ls engines

This engine was pulled from an SC400, so slightly different oil delivery system, but they are still mostly the same. I love the 1UZ!
