I feel like Oroville is a lake that would benefit from more catch and keep. There's tons of spots in it but they all seem stunted. There's plenty of bait for them to eat to get big, but maybe a little overcrowded. Great video!
And I use all braid to leader. As a bank angler I'm limited on the amount of rods I can carry so if I have to change techniques I just switch my leader
Happy Birthday! I just celebrated my 25th anniversary of my 39th birthday. Great video and fantastic way to celebrate our catching those spotties. As for techniques....As much as I try just about every technique there is... for me, nothing works better than a Texas Rig and Drop Shot. But I keep trying to expand my comfort zone...I use braid on my skirted jigs on the bottom in an effort to reduce losing my tackle...which is why I probably don't do very well with a jig. And I go straight Flouro when I have a swim jig tied on. I usually work Oroville into the mix about 4 - 5 times per year, and looking forward to those again this year.
@@davegwiazdon8450 I’m a braid to leader guy most of the time. Unless I’m throwing high $$ swimbait 😂. Try it out, sensitivity is still there and the blood knot is a good connection knot.
HBD, you get to fish n go out now that's nice. I go with the cheap stuff like uglystik, spinning reel with jigging with 8 or 10 pnd mono. Still gets the job done, no combo to combo for me. Unless I start losing the Hookset n line breaking off I'll change my strategy. I say lake oroville is one of the easiest to catch bass, especially when summer hits
@@dr3ams00 definitely agree that Oroville is 🔥 for numbers in the spring and summer. Sounds like you’re still able to get a solid hookset with mono line. I’ve never tried mono for throwing a jig.
Liking the sinking braid/flouro combo A LOT for my jig rods... On my 3/8s and 1/2oz jigs, I'm going lighter than you are - Sunline Almight Olive Camo Sinking PE 22lb / 1/AbrazX Fluorocarbon 10lb 200yd on the same rod/reel setup. On Oroville I always go as light as I can and fishing this on the DC reel and a 7' Loomis GLX MH that I've had forever (and will never switch! I can feel fish look at my jig! 🙂 ). This reel/rod/line setup I'm finding I can REALLY cast a long ways along long, tapering points (helps locate locate fish better/faster IMO.) HOWEVER the line's a new setup and if I start breaking off jigs, will level up!) I DID had some experimenting to do to get the leader knot just right - couple a #$@%^ hookset breakoffs but I've figured out the sweet spot... On my 3/4s and 1 tons I'm running your setup on a 745 and a Curado. For the lighter stuff, that DC is freaking AWESOME! Keep these vids coming - VERY helpful! ( I was on the water same day you were but not in the Slot.... listened to that PGE helo for hours inspecting power lines!) Cheers!
@@coachsimard8641 Definitely like the idea of going lighter on the 1/2oz jigs. Might try that out. Plus I love tinkering with setups. I agree the sinking braid is here to stay. Plus it love the sensitivity. Good luck out there man. 🤘🏼
HBD brotha. Nothing like hitting the water on your birthday. Get ‘em!!! 😎🤙🔥🎣💪
@@Flippencz Thanks man! It was a good time 🤘🏼🎣
Can’t go wrong with an Old Glory Tube on Oroville.

@@JesusISGOD344 nice setup. About to try some 12lb test this weekend. Never caught a trout on video while bass fishing.
What jig rod you throwing
@@cgray1300 I use either a dobyns champion xp 734 or 736. Good luck out there!
Any good bank spots or just for boat and yaks???
@@MilesOfFishing you would definitely have to do some hiking but there is plenty of shoreline access from the ramp areas. Thanks for watching.
