I'm 64 and I've fished all my life. Mostly up in the mountains fly fishing for trout. Then I bought my first boat three years ago....and nothing has been the same since. I couldn't agree more with you about the beauty and solitude I get when I'm out on the water. It's very close to what I get when I'm backpacking in a wilderness....peace, quiet, wildlife, excitement, adventure....and that feeling when you set a hook. There's no way I can live with out it and I'll be chasing that feeling until the end. Tight lines to all in 2025!

Folsom Lake....which I like to refer to as Torture Lake...is such a mystery. I live 10 minutes from Granite Bay. Because of that, I go there way more than any other lake. And yet, it's still a complete mystery to me. Those "bite windows" are definitely out there...but I'll be danged if I've figured out where and when they happen. It's pure luck for me when I do.....and unbelievably exciting when they happen. Because I've logged more skunks on Torture Lake than all of the other lakes I've ever fished combined...in my life. But just like Charlie Brown trying to kick that football....I'll be back.

I've been 'nostalgia fishing' on Oro the last 3 trips and haven't found the right fish. Came here to do some research and found your channel. I REALLY appreciate the detail you put in to this! Quick question - what gloves are you running? I have yet to find a pair for the early hours that I'm comfortable casting - couple of broken fingers yrs past have turned arthritic and the colds' a bitch these days! Went to Folsom for the NEWJen pro/am for the first time earlier this year ! Crazy how similar that place fishes lol!

I live in Sac and never fished folsom. I'm intimidated by its stingy reputation. Man that water is low.

Great video. I just wish Folsom would get back above 400. I've been fishing Oroville for a few months now. Kind of miss Folsom.

Something worth trying is going to Walmart and buying a bag of 1-2 oz disc sinkers. Then attach some big snaps to them. Keep them in your cupholder and you can knock out 8/10 snags you get as long as you don't yank on them super hard. Let it go down your line and you can bounce the snags right out.

Folsom Lake....or as I like to call it...Torture Lake is my home lake also. I wish I could figure it out better though. I have very inconsistent results for it being my "home lake". My biggest out of Folsom is 3.lb 5oz. So a 5.8 is a monster!
