This is the best teaching I’ve heard on this subject.

John mark is one of my favorite pastors, and still is. But did anyone else get a little confused when he said on weekly gatherings tongues should not be used / distracting and then went on to say he loves to hear people sing in tongues at his church.. & then he also went on to say publicly praying / contending intensely. The lines just seem a little blurred.
    Time : 41:20, 43:30, 43:50. & then 1:01:57 & 1:02:12

Tongues was actual languages spoken at the time....So far both myself (as 25+ years being charismatic) plus dozens of studies by linguists have proven that the modern phenomenon is not what was happening in Acts which was what the letter was directed to. Tongues is a "gift" which you cannot learn or impart. Acts 2 describes the hearing of a words in one's own language when the speaker did not understand for the purpose of evangelization. If you look at the context of Corinthians, the whole book is a rebuke to that church, it is not great!

Just because it is a rebuke, does not mean every statement is negated. Paul positively affirms the gift of tongues and that they are not unto men or angels but unto God
