Yup I agree with that. Had mine a while now and been bomb proof and such fun on a good B road. So far I’ve had the ‘Not a real Porsche’ line told to me twice… each time my reply was simply “so when did you last drive one?” You know what the answers were, mumbled quietly as they disappeared into the crowd never to be seen again. Oh, after market stereo? I’d recommend Alpine/Audison pairing… blows my mind when I’m not just listening to the engine 😊
Haha me too, always comes from people who have never driven one 😂 thanks for that advice, have just driven across Europe and the lack of music was killing me
I agree on one thing, the stigma around the Boxster. It blows me away how such an incredible sports car gets a bad rap. Always from some expert that has never driven one. I suppose it comes from having a 911 for a big brother.
Yeah, the Boxster was always doomed to be the ‘not a 911’ in the range, but strikes me as a better alternative in many regards. Mid-engined, smaller, cheaper and looks better as a drop top
Truth is its one of them cars u need to "buy for u" not for other people or the rep - u will be rewarded. They are wonderful but agree rep is Annoyingly poor.
Brittle plastics? The interior is the same as a 911 and solid as. Also replacing the headunit is tricky with Bose as it has a separate amp connected via optical cable
I replaced my gear box cables twice….avoided the third iteration repair by preemptively replacing the OEM with cables with a Numeric performance cables. Agree that some plastic parts such as the front & rear track switches and badly designed windshield visors could be improved. 987.2 has no IMS problem. At 136,000 miles of which I put on 126,000 I’ve enjoyed the car immensely.
987.1 S received the 3rd Gen IMS. It’s larger diameter and placed inside the shaft. It’s unreplaceable and only > 5% failure. Borescoring is prevalent and imminent.
My 2006 boxster s, is 100 % stock, and love it every time I drive it! Especially topdown, in the best weather, view on the planet!? Waaaat? Aloha from Hawaii.!!
Not yet, but the clip at the end of the cables snapped recently, jamming the cables and leaving me stranded. Problem is they are exposed to the elements and quickly corrode
I have a 2009 RS60 which I bought in 2011. I only drive around 1500 miles a year, so you'll see that it's just for sunny days and Sundays. Having said that, I've not had any issues at all, bar a battery replacement, which I don't count as a car fault. I have no problems with the image; I could have bought a 911 but chose the Boxster instead.
Great choice, honestly it would take a special 911 for me to trade this in for one. I’ve recently been driving it on narrow Italian roads and it’s the perfect size to be enjoyed
Regarding point 3: My RS 60 is a total and unsolicited chick magnet. All types of women I don't know have asked to go for a ride. Might not define masculinity but I never feel bad about it.
something weird with the colour balance or grading of this video. Looks like you are wearing green clothing when I bet its black. the car colour changes from shot to shot
according to the official porsche club of america youtube channel, bore scoring happens almost exclusively on the earliest 987 cayman S models with 3.4 liter engines (2005-2009). bore scoring on the boxster; or even the larger-engined (3.2 liter) boxster S is so rare as to be almost non-existent. see the relevant videos on the subject from porsche club of america.
@@carchaps Not really. I have owned 5 Porsches and I love and respect the brand. So go and get your "better" vehicle meanwhile the rest of us automotive afficionados will understand what Dr Ferry Porsche started and instead you buy a Jaguar or better yet a Hackney taxi and go putter around the countryside.

I’m considering getting one myself. Good video!
You definitely should, it’s brilliant. And thanks!

Perhaps brittle was the wrong choice of words..more like cheaper feeling plastics in certain places. And thanks for the heads up about the head unit!

Thanks for the info! I’m thinking of replacing the cables myself, but other than the clip it’s been fine for me
Very good video 💪🏻 this is my dream car 😍
Thank you! Yeah it’s a beast

Lol, i do hope it’s not imminent
@@carchaps borescoring is imminent. Over 100,000kms. Or a car that’s been tracked every weekend

@@carchaps damn!! Just got myself an 05 3.2. having issues with the front control unit and gear selector 😢

I disagree everyone goes googoo over mine neighbors that didn't talk to me came over when I bought it A lot of people adore it
Yeah I do get a lot of positive reactions - it’s more within the car community that there is some snobbery 😂
Hey, how much miles do you have on your Boxster? :)
Just ticked over 107K - bought it at 102K
How did you find this car for 12k?! Where ? What years is it ?
Bought it in Feb from a dealer, it’s a 2006 model. Plenty out there!
It’s in Europe. These are over 20 in the USA
The jealously on a boxster is real
Hahaha I get called a twat at least once a week…but that might not be cause of the car

Love to hear this - I have to report the same findings 🤣
Is there a reliable solution to the cable issue?
Best way to get over the problems that are bugging you is to buy a 981!
Hahah, that’s the dream
More videos of the boxster!
Don’t worry, plenty more Boxster content coming your way!
Crazy I just bought a 987 last week

Simple solution. Sell it.
