- When Caruana and Ivanchuk clashed it was the battle between two of the finest players of the game, but in different eras. While Caruana is a top player in the present day, Ivanchuk's peak was more than a decade ago! Yet, Ivanchuk is often termed as a timeless legend and it is extremely exciting to see him in action every time he sits on the board. Check out this game from World Blitz 2024 along with the commentary by IM Sagar Shah and don't miss Ivanchuk's beautiful gesture at the end.

Ivanchuk should get a special award for his love towards chess.
He doesn't want a pitty Award
@@Pashachessgm such a negativity !
100%. In this era of cold calculation, I've never seen someone express so much wholehearted enthusiasm, in both wins and losses.
Ivanchuk in his younger years was feared by everyone , including Kasparov. A mercurial , temperamental , brilliant player . Vishy used to joke that Ivanchuk lives on "Planet Ivanchuk" . 😊
Feared by everyone... or he fears everyone ...iam afariad of ur english bro...🤣
At age 19, Ivanchuk won a tournament ahead of both Kasparov and Karpov, with victories against both (Linares 1991). The only player ever to do so. He was inconsistent, but at his best he was amazing. Both players are very nice people, too.
"Unable to take his decisions at the speed at which he would like to." That sums it up.
Caught my attention as well. Great analysis.
Fast time control is always becoming more difficult as you grow older. No exception at the level of top players and even legends.
Always love ivanchuk. His love of the game is something everyone should admire.
Fabi is my favorite current player, not just because of the respect he shows for the game but also for his opponents.
Mine too
caruana showed in this tournament how underrated he is in blitz
I thinks its more like he has significantly improved
@@user-dw4dq1if1mhow? He had 2800 blitz rating before 2016, can you explain how
I have just heard his name a few times before but after his game against Danya i wonder how huch he loves this game even at this time. It is just unbelievable❤ FIDE should have reward him his love of the game.
He IS unbelievable. He has beaten all the world champions with class, has produced more ideas on the board than anyone, His life is dedicated to the gameS (chess but also checkers !). He lost stupidly several times, he has desesperatly huge imperfection but his heart is the one of a pure man.
you can feel true love for the game in ivanchuck
Ivanchuk's head is massive
Gentleman move from Fabi to fix the opponent pieces after Chucky left
I knew you use former top player for matching with the other one, but i think it was a bit underrated for him, as a legend
World no. 2 then vs world no. 2 now, absolute fight of gens
That was a gesture of great beauty
Nicely commentated.
When Ivanchuk raised his both hands while leaving the board, he said "OK".
to think when Ivanchook was a force in chess Fabi was swimming between balls
I wish I loved something, as much as Chucky loves chess
0:45 is this Marvel hero or wot? Right side corner😅
7:38 again back
Yeah, any captain (is that only a 9gag thing) ??
but what was the beautiful gesture...? did i miss something or
A normal decent and civil gesture after losing becomes "beautiful" if his reaction the last time was crying like a baby.
@@MrKockabillyWhy are you disrespecting Chucky?
@@sneakyvictorsneakyvictor7658 Chucky disrespected himself first by acting like that as if he doesn't know that losing is always a possibility.
@@MrKockabillynot really, it was a very normal human reaction. I don’t what you’re talking about
@@MrKockabillyWhen you have been working towards something all your life to only have it taken away from you, i think it’s a natural response to cry. His opponent was clearly losing in terms of position and won by a technicality.
Vasly ❌ vasili ✅ 0:01
Vasyl, that's his name
Good game !!
Age does not affect chess skill but it slows down your time causing the loss of many won games
They both need to play Gukesh.
came for the gesture, stayed for the sicilian
poc for Caruana. 😊
Sakar Šah is the best traveling journalist from hindu world.
What hindu ?
@clintonpaul5684 I believe he is from Hindustan.
🔥🔥🔥
Kh6 was probably the only move there.
Retrieving N to D 7 by ivanchuk was mistake
And he pushes himself under the pressure
Exactly, this move seemed so wrong, there was a chance to go forward.
When you are going to be 2650 as 55 y old this is nuts
Something is wrong with Ivanchuk, a GM at his level consistently loosing on time, not by a margin but by about a full minute in many cases during 3 min games.. I am a huge fan of his, my favourite player but old age aside something else is at play here. Otherwise what is the point of playing 3 min games to sit for 30 to 45 seconds for moves in the middle and end game? It pains me to see him like this. 😢
Ask Gritchuk ! Ask Alireza ! They do the same.

What's so beautiful in shaking hands? In my mind, this is just click-biting content. Less dramatic titles would help.
Chucky is 55yo? WTF he looks 70+
Ivancguk left without setting up his pieces, educate me - isn't this slightly wrong?
Caruana be like- Bhai agar Jeet Gaya to ye bhaisab (Ivanchuk) roo na de!!😅
Dear Sagar its not Vasyli it's Vasyl ; better pronounced VasYL. Best Regards!
Yeah too bad that Ivanchuk appeared to have given his opponent very natural attacking moves while suffering to build a counter attack of his own.
This is what makes me not subscribe to this channel. They bait you with the title and then they show nothing related to it.
Why this dude loses on time everytime I see him in videos.
Isn't it normal to say "good game" when you lose? (OK, he technically lost on time but he already was in a worse position since a little moment. And I guess he didn't find a (good) move because there was none that could reverse the position, in particular against a top player like Caruna.) This should be *normal* "good sportsmanship" among professional players.
What's the beautiful gesture? That he didn't cry?
Good
Just like ur mom was last night
Ivanchuk is adorable
Known as "Chucky cheese", he was a formidable force in the 90s. But for his nerves, he would have destroyed Kasparov and become a world champion. Along with Paul Keres and Viktor Korchnoi, I would argue that Vassily Ivanchuk is among the greatest players never to have become the world champion. I sincerely hope that Fabi does not get on that list!
Пора зав'язати з швидкими контролями, вік все таки вирішує, краще хай грає в рапід чи класику.
Ivanchuk needs to give up playing blitz.
Er wird halt auch immer komischer
😂😂 commentary
He is too old to win a tournment.
Ivanchuk should retire, he’s made his money
He should have cried
Bro
Bro come on
Ivanchuk always disrespetful leaving without arranging. Fide should ban him for that. Also he cried like a baby later. Annoyiing
Lmao watch some chess games atleast. You look like you started watching yesterday. Many GMs don't arrange their pieces after the game. Should fide ban them all? And what's wrong with crying after a painful loss? You don't even look like you've played any chess game.
You only discovered chess last week. What would you know about chess?
this person knows nothing about chess lol
You are making stupid comments, TH-cam should ban you
Are you trying to be funny? Doesn't catch on if you making fun of an elder. Show some respect and do better jokes.
He should retire with honor
