In it just a good feeling when you got new stuff for the van.. I don't know but myself can't be happier.. With a new bit of kit for the van a cup tea.. And just injoy.. Brilliant... As for glass... Yes that's it easy days.. Not even a pair of glass suckers in sight.. Man after my own heart... Well it's all coming together nicely now.... I'm starting to get jealous

Oh I'm loving your new van build Karl. I'm just at the same stage where I'm looking at ply for the walls (but do I need it now!?) and carpeting! Perfect timing. Love it mate.

They are B-yew-tile sheets. NOT Booot-all. Congrats on knowing that sound deadening works by lowering the resonance frequency of the panel, so you put it in the middle not all over. That is 2nd year of uni. physics.
You talk a lot of sense and are obvious;y very intelligent.

I can't believe that those windows aren't held on, or in place with anything attached on the frame at all! Anything other than that glue that is. And, I have a question, could you have received a greater insulation value if you doubled up that insulation in more layers? Fantastic job on all the work you did in this video! You did such a professional job with the carpeting! Bravo!
You could but its the law of diminishing returns and I'm not going to the arctic in it. Also you have to remember these vans have a canvas roof so theres no point putting massive amounts of insulation in it when all the heat will disappear out of the roof. I fit insulation for the sound deadening qualities as much as the heat retaining qualities
@@KBeadle Aah, thank you for replying. I'm Canadian, living here in Canada, or what could be considered as 'The Arctic" at times, lol. I actually live in Winnipeg, MB, but those of us who reside here have actually nick-named it "Winterpeg" (just to add as to why I was concerned about extra insulation I guess, lol). And I definitely did not know that the roof of the van was made of canvas. Now I do. I'm new to your channel, but with your talents , knowledge and replies, I'm definitely learning. So I thank you for that. And now that I recall, I do believe that I have seen in one of the videos that the van does have a pop-up roof, correct? Again, thank you for taking the time to explain. It really helps me to understand and decipher through what I want to do when I find my used, but 'New-To-Me' next mobile home. Because I will be remodeling it.

The windows you carpeted and didn't trim... could you put trim on or is there a reason for no trim with carpet?

I’ve seen people put the adhesive on the glass pane and others, like you, put it on the body. Why is that better in your opinion?
its a contact adhesive you have to put it on the carpet and the metal

Not really sure why you would put it on the glass
Why no insulation on the wheel arches?
because I'm not going to the artic ;) this van will be used mainly in summer and even when I do use it in winter I've got the diesel heater so its just a waste of time and money. Vw's own £60k California doesn't even have insulation in the walls so I'm more than happy with what I've got.

can i ask what you paid for yours vw t5 .

@@KBeadle wow fast reply . £1740 for lwb £1040 on web site they said brexit had pushed up price . you gave me a good idea for lifting the roof ,im going to use two zip up scaffolding towers with a youngmans plank spanning these and a small pull lift
