  • The Time Crashers are now back in 1468, one of the few years England was not troubled by the Wars of the Roses and they are in two unisex teams of squires, the Reds and the Blacks, competing with each other to prepare their knight for a jousting tournament. The fastest team to accommodate the winning knight is rewarded with a feast whilst the losers must polish yet more armour.

Kirstie Alley's spirit is so great in all of these episodes. I would have expected her to be a Hollywood elitist but she is always down-to-earth, willing to learn, and actually enjoying it. Plus she always surprises me when she explains her prior experiences with whatever task it is... horses, cooking, sewing. Love her!

Kirstie saying that was the best day of her life, and her win felt like an academy award. That’s a huge statement. It kind of floored me tbh. I suppose she was comparing herself to being a Tudor. But I get it. I did an archery shoot once at a medieval festival. I felt like Merida. It was glorious

You know you've watched too much Absolute History when you see spiral laces on clothes 30 seconds into the program and immediately go "oh, early Tudor period". (Edit: Technically the Tudor period started in 1485, so I was 13 years early in my guess. I still think that's pretty decent considering it was more than half a millennium ago and I guessed based on a doublet. 🤷‍♀️)
I swear I'd have had better grades in my high school history classes if this channel had existed back then. But no, we had the wrestling coach telling us to read our textbooks while he planned for an upcoming match. I thought I hated history until I was in my 20s.

And I've gone to the local Rennaissance Festival a time or ten. Both of those probably had a hand in my being a casual armchair history enthusiast. And if I got wind of a similar chance to live history, I'd love to give it a go. That said, I don't always do well under pressure so this would be a good test of character for me.

This could have been a really cool show if it stuck closer to the real thing and not adding silliness for extra drama.

I like some eelements of these a lot, and the quality of it overall, the clothing etc. are much better than a lot of tripe otherwise seen on TV. But the fake surprise and other weird bits definately felt 'off' at times

So the Knights earned quite a bit of money then, if they paid for the armor themselves, would someone else have paid for it?

PS I don't understand why the black were so down; they won a great second place while the reds were one before the last!

Man, it was all Wild West or Cops and Robbers for me growing up. No one wanted to play Knights. Ever. So disappointed

The teams have been equally divided , they have handicaps like the body builder…..and then they have the assets, like the Olympian and Kirsty… I think the reds will win…but I’m only two minutes into the competition…..

The woman introduced as a "socialite" really struck me. Why in the world would anybody want to be on a TV show and be introduced as a socialite? To me that's an insult. . Might as well say "And introducing rich snob who wouldn't know work if it bit her in the face, Meg Matthews" When I picture "socialite" Paris Hilton is the first person who comes to my mind.

Loved this series - and Tony Robinson too, as always with his history/time team type programs. But with all the authenticity why are the women still wearing eye makeup? And at 11:53 was that a bit of aluminium foil I spotted? Kirsty - so much respect for her throughout the series, for her great attitude and resourcefulness, and also because she is e a rare Hollywood actress who has left her face to age normally. Also for Keith, the oldest of the men, who despite truly dodgy knees and back, keeps on keeping on, and even volunteers in one episode when the young guys are too tired, when he was exhausted himself, and in pain. Also stand out great attitude from the olympic long jumper. No time for the young weightlifter though, for reasons others have expressed. For all she began saying she'd give it her all, she never did. Goes to show that strength of character gets you further than physical strength for sure. Great series which I've recommended to my grandkids.
