- Flying without a joystick is certainly possible in x Plane so lets try it if you only have a laptop and your on the go but still want to fly when you can. Here is a Mouse flying tutorial. I'm going to show you how to do it and have fun flying in X Plane 11.

I just bought myself a new laptop. Loaded up x-plane on it and was shocked how easy the game is to fly with a mouse (in my case: the laptop's touchpad). I really appriciate how much work x-plane put into making the sim very diverse with control options. I flew 1 short circuit like you did here, and like you: I just about wrecked my landing... haha. Aside from that though: it was smooth. I do have the warthog hotas and mfg crosswind rudder pedals for my desktop, but it was a surprise and really fun to know that if I wanted, I could also enjoy the sim on my laptop to kill some time. Thanks for showing everyone this on here! We see elaborate and expensive setups, but not many videos showing simple setups.

Hi bro. a question, how do you make a + symbol appear on your mouse? Because as we all know, the xplane 11 has a square where only there you can control the plane with the mouse.

when i pick to use mouse as a yoke, i dont have all the "green" controls like in ur video. It appear a square in the middle of the screen in which i need to move my mouse to control the plane - problem is that this type of controll is really bad and i would like to have it as on your video. Is it x plane 11 for sure ?
+Sawyer its in the. Settings Sawyer. I do show you in the vid where to turn it on but you don't need it. The green just shows what can be controlled. Just hold the mouse button down when the cursor is over the yoke handle and it grabs it. Have to hold the mouse button down.
Its not easy but with practice it would be ok.

In my case it’s not a question of money, it’s actually something different and a kind act I did for my brother. I had a joy stick and he had to practice and study for enetering in flight school and he was going to be tested in some stuff to do with a joy stick so I lended him mine.

I have downloaded a demo , for someone who never tried it before it was so user unfriendly that by the time when I worked out some controls my demo expired - well it got me interested to try it but not to spend $60 to see if I like it bad marketing strategy as this is the point when you say it is not worth it . Demo should last a day or two or maybe a week . any way lest forget about it
Roko restart a flight and it will work fine. You get about 15 minutes till the flight controls stop. Just exit the flight and start a new one. I think you will be impressed enough to spend the 60$ ... ;) Its a fantastic simulator. The best in my opinion. Its only failing is it doesnt have seasons as yet but the biggest plus is the flight models. They are better and more realistic than P3D in my opinion. Enjoy. Let me know if i can help.

How do you zoom out so far? when I'm in defualt place flying a 737, I can't even see the yoke!
You can use the comma or end key to zoom in and out as well as the mouse wheel to scroll wheel mate.

Another note is you can widen the view in the menu by adjusting the FOV slider .. field of view. ;)
Do you have Key Map for helicopter ?
+Henoc M I have a standard aircraft setup but all you need to do is reverse the throttle and then save it as a helicopter profile. Give it a go its huge fun.
How do i takeoff with mouse and keyboard? Like which button to move the plane forward and which to rotate?
F1 and F2 control power. Use the left mouse button when the cursor changes to arrows. Any time it changes you can grab that control. Hold left mouse button down and grab the yoke or joystick. When u get fast enough pull back and fly away.
F2 just turned up my brightness

+Mohd Umar007 I set vie angle in the graphics menu to 90 deg from 60. Use Q and E to rotate and R & F to rotate up down, the arrow keys to side and up down and , plus . To z[m in and out. Hope this helps. Save view with CTR plus a Number pad key. CTR plus 8 say.

Move your position. Or use the mouse to zoom in a little so the seats are out of the way. It is hard flying with a mouse and keyboard.

+Zaheer Iqbal what i would suggest is set up the auto pilot or just hit ALT to hold altitude, use heading to control that. Use the mouse to set the heading bug before you take off on runway heading. There is heading and alt setting i think which once pushed will allow you to do other tasks with the mouse. Get use to setting things up before take off.
You can set heading, altitude and even rate of climb on the auto pilot before take off then when your ready you just hit the auto pilot to get it to control the flight.
Getting an inexpensive joystick really would be best if you can afford it of course.

Hi, nice vid. I’m a little confused about brakes. If I type brakes in the controls page, there are multiple options. But the “B” key in the cockpit seems to be the parking brake. That’s not want I want for stopping on the runway though is it? Would that be the toe brakes on the rudder?
Hit the B key to brake. Thats what I use. Sime aircraft have left and right brake options but B works for me ;)

Hi. I dont have an answer I am sorry. You can hold down the left mouse when on the yoke or stick and control the aircraft. Left mouse hold down. You should see small box and 4 arrows. Good luck.

+Paulo Henrique Capucci Not sure ifxits different on a mac ... Up arrow should be simply up and down nose down. Left arrow should roll left and right to the right. I used the mouse in the video ... i normally use a joystick myself which is a lot better.

Set up views by moving the camera view. W. R. Rotates left and right. R. F. ROTATE UP AND DOWN. Arrow keys move you too. Once where you want it hit the ctr plus a num pad key to save.
How do you shut off the green highlight controllers. I must have turned it on. Don't know what you use it for.
+Russ Its in the 1st menu. Turn off controllable areas or something like that. Its a box you tick or untick. ;)

@@lomdomgamer6061 You have great gear. I guess its all about optimization in game. My cpu works hard and gpu not so in x plane 11 ... in DCS my gpu is maxed out and cpu is moderate.

+Misiulo i need to go home and try this again myself. I havent done it since i mafe thw video. If you use the mouse hold down the mouse button and you can roll the aircraft by moving it left and right ... pull pack or push forward to go up and down .. rudders ill need to check but they move then need to be centred again. Rudders shouldnt be a huge problem normally. I think you can click on the rudder pedals and move them with the mouse to taxi.

Hi Fortnite - check the main GENERAL menu and look down the bottom left for show CLICKABLE REGIONS - then everything you can click on will have a box. If its clickable the mouse will change from a pointer to Arrows I think - Hope that helps - Have fun in X Plane 11 and thanks for visiting my channel.

You zoon to far. , . Keys move you in and out. Save the position with Ctr + a number pad key.
Eg .. CTR + NUM 8 and it will remember. Need to do this for each aircraft. Hope this helps.

Hi Daniel I believe you will be ok. It have the 2600 and had the 1050ti and it was fair performance. It wont run at max but you will have a good experience. The 8gb ram should be ok. I haven't seen it use more when i tested. Remember windows will use nearly 2gb ram so maybe some more ram but id try it first. :)

I dont think you can fly the controls.with keyboard. You cant assign axis controls to key strokes as far as.I know.

The presets are there. If you plug in a new controller like a joystick the program has preset allocations for the buttons but you can change them. If your flying with a mouse then F1 and F2 control power. Left mouse held lets you grab the controls to fly. Hold it down to grab the yoke etc. Right mouse hole lets you pan around. Hope that helps
I am getting the demo and I'm new.. should I worry? I'm new to the whole flying thing especially on advanced flight sims.
+Aviation Ethan No .. Certainly not. Start with the Cessna and learn all the facits. Taxiing. Takeoff .. the circuit .. landing ... land in cross winds ... learning radio and navigation. One step at a time. Remember the demo only gives you 15 minutes then the controls don't work. Restart the flight and your good to go. If you get good performance consider purchasing. Check out the videos on my channel to get you started. Good luck. )

Hi Coxin Go .. I understand the num pad keys with the num pad off .. 5 left. 6 centre 7. Right
I think these are like trim.. X plane will try and auto co ordinate the rudder if you dont have the axis assigned. Hope this helps. ;)

The square is to help you fly with the mouse. I didnt have it in the video. You can turn it off in the settings. I used the mouse button which i hole down when the mouse cursor is over the yoke or joystick. It changes shape then you can hold the joystick. Hope this helps. @@za6765 Hi .. page 1 of the menus .. bottom of the page on the left. SHOW CLICKABLE REGIONS.. Yours will be ticked. Untick it and all the boxes dissapear. Have fun :)
+NotAndrew Go to the 1st page of the menu. Un tick the show controllable areas or something Like that. Its the top left one at the bottom left of the screen.
how do you adjust mouse sensitivity?
I recomend the better mouse plugin or try lowering the sensitivity in windows may help. The better mouse plugin is awesome. Check out my video on it. It looks after the mouse senitivity.
The game tells you to "click the center of the screen on the black crossair to grab the yoke" in the tutorial. But when Im flying the 737 for example, no matter where I look that stupid crossair always follows the camera and it makes me click it when I want to press a button on the control panel. And subsequently sends my plane into an uncontrolled dive because I was looking in a different direction.
Do you know how to avoid this?
Hi . I dont remember any black cross ... just put your mouse on the top of the yoke and hold the left mouse button and you'll grab it. If your looking to see where you can grab turn on the control settings and all will turn green. ;)

Actually, I've learned a little bit about my issue. I am referring to the "mouse yoke." Since I do not have a joystick. The problem is, the mouse yoke over laps buttons on the airplane console when I am looking at it, and I always inadvertently click on the mouse yoke when I am simply trying to press a button on the planes console. What Joystick do you recommend for Xplane 11? also, is it compatible with laptops? (sorry, not that knowledgeable with tech stuff)
Any should be ok Rajiv. More buttons is normally better. Buy the best you can and it will last many years. Consider rudder pedals in the future. They are very worthwhile. Just depends on your budget and try to get logitech .. ch pro ... or any top brand.

How do u Zoom out or zoom in inside the Cockpit?
Hi Silent wrath use the . And the ; i think is correct. Down next to the right shift key. You can save the view once you have what you want by holding ctr and pressing a num pad key. It will save it for you. W is normal view. The q and e rotate the view and r plus f tilt up and down from memory. Thanks for commenting. Pls Sub if you havent already. ;)

+Ashni Bindra You need to assign the keys in the controls screen. Select a key and assign it to throttle up and another to throttle down.
You can use the mouse to move it as well but hard then your flying manually.
See how I set the rudder. Same thing to set up throttle. ;)

If the mouse is over the yoke or joystick it changes to arrows. Hold down the left mouse button to hold the joystick and move it. Back and forward as well as left and right.

I was operating the yoke in the sim by holding it with the mouse. At no time did i use anything other than the mouse and keyboard Mike. Maybe the wording was confusing. There are 2 ways to fly. You can get a square uo which sits in your view as a reference to use the mouse. I don't like it. I hold down the left mouse button and it holds the yoke in the sim then i move the mouse to control it mate. Good luck with the new shiny laptop. Gunnie's Lets Fly VFR Hi. I got the game running and actually find the user manual with game controls from somewhere at game files.
At first, it was bit tricky to handle the plane(controllable with mouse by default) but while playing and flying more, i felt it wasn't that hard( although flying with fighter like f-22 raptor is more complicated due it's very sensitive handling, also tried out radio planes, but yeah, the're crazy, I didn't manage so far to fly with any of these).
Landing [smoothly] with almost every plane is still for beginner like me, pretty(very) hard and usually requires more experience, especially if you don't have a joystick to handle the plane
(currently I'm using keyboard and mouse).
And what I have also found that sometimes game won't run on full-screen properly(sometimes there are visible blank spaces on both sides). Tried to turn on/off scaling picture for games, but didn't help. Well this game has made early 2000s so the native screen resolution I found out was 1024x768, made most compatible for older 4:3 CRT monitors. Might be also that it's not possible to get perfect resolution and correct scaling at same time due the differences of aspect ratio. At 1024x768 the game was running fullscreen, not even bad quality, but modifying screen resolution made these blank spots visible. Have no idea, what I should try.
Game overally is very good/great.
