Well, taking it with humor and even with a playful answer to the clone-mage is really something that demonstrates the vision and commitment of the brand to the watch community. This brand is on my wishlist since a while. Thank you for the video.
Love the brand! One question…the Swiss/Chinese movement that you use is also in other watches like the Seagull 1963. The 1963 can be found for under $200. Why the big price difference?
@@frogsplorer They're just throwing the fully made movement into their case, there isn't a lot of labor costs for the "assembly" in the UK. The market up is because of the marketing and demand. Their margins on this watch are pretty large.
It was a breath of fresh air when Studio Underdog came along. It brought visibility to Microbrands with a very original, appealing and, above all, accessible pieces. Unfortunately I have a very large wrist and I can't wear a 39 mm watch, which makes me very sad because I would love to have an Underdog watch. I'm not against there being watches that pay homage to others, especially when the originals are 10 to 40 times more expensive than the homages. However, these from Proxima made me very uncomfortable because I don't see any reason for them to exist. I wouldn't be able to have the same fair play as Richard Benc, but... the simple fact of having led to the creation of 2 more fantastic watches from the 1st series... hands down, brilliant. I wish Studio Underdog the greatest success and I hope, with some hope, that one day it will be possible to launch something for someone like me with the wrists of an elephant ;)
The Proxima clone of your microbrand watch has totally put your brand on my radar. Were it not for the Reddit comments, I never would have been aware of your microbrand. I do like that Proxima did not copy the tachymeter racetrack and that they did not try to copy the ornamental designs of the case and the chronograph push buttons. I also note that Proxima did to try to duplicate the dial on your watches. I hope that both companies can find a way to grow together.
lol crazy i came across the clone myself and was curious about the original, now im here just like you mentioned. while the original is pricey it isnt anything you cant save up for to eventually make the purchase. that's my new goal now, i definitely would like a watch from the brand.
I like the underdog avocado idea but I feel It needs some lighter yellow or brown colour palette on the dial somewhere to replicate the fruits flesh or it’s stone…
@@turnbasedtoddy7664Not necessarily. A business' goal is to maximise profit in the long term. Scarcity can maintain hype, drive demand, support higher prices and higher margin per unit.
Given the current success of microbrands, it was only a matter of time before someone in china copied the new designs. Fortunately, the copy is really bad. But what do they do when the copies get closer to the original, as is the case with many historical originals?
Why can’t I find a straight answer as to where the SU movements are made? All I see is a lot of double talk about how EVERYTHING goes through Great B but NOTHING as to where the actual movement is MADE?!?
I doubt Richard was pleased at what P*****a did but copying the copy is a masterstroke which only he would think of. Your Avocado render looks great. Better than doing a one for one. I don't know what plans you have but un-inventive as I am classic case shapes come to mind. Tank and cushion for starters.
its my personal opinion only based on the video, studio underdog's water-melon looks more juicy than the chinese knockoffs...when you put it side by side its obvious. i mean the dial of the former just pops. there is no contest, the underdog is the winner this round.
Good on Proxima 🏆🏆🏆 they offer what studio underdog can’t, heaps and heaps of units so is not a limited edition and the price is fair, to be honest any ST19 over $400 is a ripoff, a terrible finished movement unrefined, overhyped is an absolutely eyesore ⚠️😑

Thank you for the video.
This guy is absolutely brilliant!
Not suing but making a homage homage.
The green avocado is beautiful! Sign me up!
I want an entire range of vegetable-themed watches from Underd0g: beetroot, cabbage, potato, asparagus, carrot, onion, and so on.
A bitter melon (Goya) would be a good dial with its texture.
What about a brussel sprouts?
Everybody loves them .😊
A studio underd0g 01 carrot cake would actually be super cool
Bros kinky like that
There will be a parsnip and a fiddlehead firn coming in the near future.
This microbrand has become one of my top favorite. Their designs are fun and refreshing. Its a watch to tell all the snobs to just relax. Have fun.
Great video.
Going to add a Studio Underdog to my watch Collection very soon looking forward getting one.
What a great sport. Now I’m more apt to pay attention to them even more. Good show!
Exactly this! Great brand positioning.
I wish other brand will start thinking like you guys, sometimes those clones actually provide inspiration, and traditional brand tend to ignore.

Big difference in the cost of labour between China and the Uk. I assume working conditions and hours are much better in the UK too
@@frogsplorernah it’s just a huge margins

Because they like to earn money, and need to make an income and pay loans back.
Yet to own an Underdog but always rooting for their ongoing success.
Eagerly waiting on his next drop of the Chronographs
It's fun to see that type of a game between CN microband and Studio Underdog, can't wait for some kind of collabs too.
Yes to Avocado. Hope the next drop will include it so we outside of the places they visit can order.
Please make available other series 1 in addition to the four. I’d buy an avocado.
As an owner of 3 pieces of Underd0g, I’m responsible to say the idea of avocado is worth to be in production.

New 03 series coming soon!

The Underd0g is clearly the nicer piece. I agree that it is somewhat flattering to have been copied so early on in your existence.
Great attitude I'm going to learn from u. Just become better!!🎉🎉🎉
I love their watches, I like it as much as my AP's and Patek's

great idea: fight fire with fire! ❤
7:38 lol of course the Chinese copy has these absolutely terrible huge lugs like so many aliexpress chronographs do.
Do you think you will ever see a decent movement or in house movement will ever find its way into one of your watches ?
I think your looking for the Rolex with balloons on it.
love that all green avocado, TAKE MY MONEY
Proxima showing you can build the exact same thing for $200. Plus it’s thinner lol
Totally different
When life gives you lemons/advocados...
I'll be after that avocado
I don’t think people would even consider the Chinese copies if you could actually buy a watch from this company. They are never in stock.
Stop thinking like a consumer and think like a business. You’ll find the answer in there somewhere!
@@JamesAlexander14 as a business isn’t your goal to sell as much as possible?
Well a chance is coming up on 6 March from 15:00 UTC

Does the Pizza watch come in a box that looks like a Pizza box ?

The avocado "homage" was pretty neat colour wise, though.

Well, their next project might be the beans on toast dial then...

This guy makes wonderful things with the dial. Most playful watches in the market, along with those by Mr. Jones. Let us applaud England.
For once a watch that is not overpriced. Jus the size is to small. Go for a 41 buddy !

Freaking genius!!!
Great design, but Underdog are totally overprice watches, like all "British" brands (except Bremont, of course)
Because their watches are made in Chinese factories
That's wild, copying the copycats 😂
thats sneaky next level trolling hahahaha copying the copycat

I dont get why these are popular. They're ugly, and the font looks like default settings on Windows 95.
The pizza one is ugly as frank. Looks like a mcdonalds happy meal free gift.
