2009 Thunder Valley Lucas Oil 450cc AMA Pro Motocross Championship (Round 5 of 12)

This is round 5 of the 2009 Lucas Oil 450cc AMA Pro Motocross Championship from Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, CO.
Returning contenders like 450cc rookies Ryan Villopoto and Josh Grant, Tim Ferry, Ivan Tedesco, Andrew Short, 450cc sophomore Josh Hill, Mike Alessi, Michael Byrne, Davi Millsaps, 2009 Supercross runner-up Chad Reed, and others battle it out for the 2009 Lucas Oil 450cc AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Supercross runner-up Chad Reed makes a last-minute decision to compete in the Motocross season for the first time since 2006. The Thunder Valley race goes under the lights for the second year in a row. Mike Alessi tries to demonstrate his toughness and want for a 450cc Motocross title by attempting to race with the broken kneecap, only to be taken out by Josh Grant in moto #1, ultimately knocking him out until Supercross 2010. Team Honda's Ivan Tedesco wins his first ever 450cc Motocross race, and his first since a 125cc win at Washougal 2005.

I, too, wondered why Thunder Valley only raced under the lights for just two years (2008 and 2009), but I would agree; nighttime Motocross would be a good trend.
