This Sears Craftsman self propelled mower is in decent shape to be 40 years old. In this video I clean the head and change the carb out on this machine to get it running again and service it so it is ready for some grass cutting!
This is the only gasoline lawn mower i really ever like❤ i still use it today. tecumseh was great
Just can’t beat the old equipment
If it was serviced and kept inside it will last other 30 years 😊😊😊
Imagine how much grass these mowers have already cut , and now they are ready for a another season of cutting . These are great mowers if you know how to take care of them . These are good motors , that are well built not worth much , but will out last the junk made today if someone takes care of them .
This mower really did come back nicely. No smoking and it runs good and the self propel still works despite the mower being nearly 40 years old!
@@EllisMowersandmore That mower IS 40+ years old...that appears to be a mower from 1983 or 1984. I'm guessing it has a different engine than the original (still a Craftsman engine, but a newer one) and it's missing the trim plate on the handle, along with the iconic Permanex catcher, but it's still a beast. Awesome find!
Nice work on that one casey, still a solid mower after all these years
This is a good mower after you serviced it, Casey. Definitely value for money for everybody. We've seen Craftsman mowers 30 years newer in worse shape. For others who have an old worn Craftsman like this, experience tells me you may consider replacing the original carburetor with an aftermarket one, preferably the version with the adjustable main jet. Older engines often need richer mixtures to stay smooth. You purchase the normal replacement and you may find yourself doing extra work to fix the surging.
Awesome lawn mower thank you for the video
If only we could go back in time and see these new on the Sears showroom floor...
Granddaddy bought a craftsman eager one back in the late 1970s That had a Tecumseh engine it had a special type of plastic key to unlock the ignition system so you can pull start it
Mine needs the self propell fixed the motor pulley is broke and the belt is missing
Seemed like your work would have gone much better if you had degreased this old girl?
