    There are a whole slew of plants I could have picked to wrap up the summer, but these each had a property that makes them special to me. Well, they are all special Hoya in and of themselves. You must have some favs, too, no?

      I have started a small collection of hoya and learning as I go. I'm finding that I enjoy the small leaf hoya more and am enamored with the Matilde splash that seems to be doing well and I can hardly wait until she fills out and drapes over the edge (yes, she's a female). I recently bought a pathos neon, a non-hoya, that is so beautiful to look at and seems to be doing well.

    Heuschkeliana and Mathilde were two that I hard-core obsessed over when I started getting interested in hoya. In both cases, I couldn't fathom spending as much as they cost at the time for big plants, so I bought several cuttings of both, which cost equal or more than bigger plants would have. (At no point have I claimed to be logical. haha) My Heuschkeliana hasn't grown as fast as I expected that it would, so when I recently saw one at a local nursery, I bought it. I'm curious to see how it will compare. My Michele does what your Kaimuki does. I wanted her so much, but she is a D I V A! Some current faves: MB-1414, both the inner and outer variegated Subquintuplinervis, Australis Tenuipes, and Latifolia Sarawak. I repotted my Krimson Princess and variegated Compacta recently and they are looking extra beautiful. My sp aff Burtoniae is looking really amazing right now, too, and Fungii withstood a pretty brutal repot/re-trellis and hasn't skipped a beat.

    LOVE seeing updates. I noticed your using plastic pots with some not your Tera cotta. Do you still use your regular mix? It doesn’t stay to wet? Thanks for another great video!

      Nice catch.... For baby plants with zero or or very small and delicate root systems, they always go into plastic. The risk of dry rot is really magnified otherwise. So I tend to scoop slightly less coco coir, slightly more chips, in the plastic. Nothing dramatic, nothing I measure out or anything. Because that would be, like, organized or something 😆

    Loved this video Dave. Is that a stag horn fern behind you on your porch? I just got one and know nothing of its preferred substrate or growing conditions. Only bought it because it was almost free

      Thank you! And yes, indeed it is. I'm not saying it's the world's greatest video or anything, but here one I made on that stag: th-cam.com/video/_DZdIQ9AHJA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lKdRRbJTGzHCxRBd It has really grown since then 😬

    Do you mind sharing the substrate that you use for your Hoya?

    • @soberplantguy
      @soberplantguy  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You bet. If you go to the description, you’ll see the amazon links to the specific coco coir, chips, and #3 perlite I use. And that’s it, nothing more. Roughly 1/3 each in the mix, then I can wing it depending on plant and pot size.
