My first introduction to Sweet Annie was at a festival 30 years ago. The barn was packed with the plant drying in the eaves. It looked ethereal hanging like that. The smell was sweet and earthy, almost overpowering in such abundance. That was the start of a love affair with this plant. So glad it was, because I have never had to replant it. It comes up everywhere. It's easily pulled and transplanted when young. So glad you made the wreath now. In my opinion, it is best to make the wreath when it is fresh and let it dry. I have used this as a base for a dried herb wreath and it is stunning. Dotting the wreath with bundles of gomphrena, strawflower and the like. And it lasts for so long. I had it just the Sweet Annie placed in crocks at the corner of our fireplace and it lasted until spring. Amazing herb, so glad you have found it! Is it wonderful to find something new after you have gardened for so long. Looking forward to the changes in the cut flower garden. Your energy and enthusiasm is a boon to my soul!

Where I live in Canada we are on water restrictions and can’t water our outdoor gardens except with water collected from rain barrels (using sparingly for the vegetable garden as we’ve had little rain to collect water) and grey water from showers for flower pots. Your gardens are absolutely stunning and I love watching how far they’ve come over the last few years and through the heat you have all summer. Thanks for sharing with us all in these videos. ❤

I personally don't blame you for wanting to change that space up. Even if you continue to plant various foliage and flowers for cutting, I'm sure they would benefit from some tree shade. Especially in your hot/dry climate I think anything and everything (even full sun) would be happier with some reprieve from the brutality of endless sun.
I'm excited to see the changes come about. ❤

What a fabulous day in the garden ... can you believe we're talking about October & Fall Planting already, and planning for the next Spring season - yikes !!!! Love when you (we) get those little projects done - it's inspiring for sure to keep on going. And, of course being a bit ADHD myself, I love how you spontaneously made a beautiful wreath - does my heart good. It's a rainy day here in Atlanta for which I am most grateful - my grass is brown and crunchy, and my water bill was x3 the norm this past month. I pray for those in it's path, but thank God for Hurricane Francine !!! Thanks for sharing your daily adventures and future project plans with us all ... looking forward to what tomorrow will bring !!!

Living on the South West coast of Norway my garden climate is very different from yours, but I your work in the garden and plant choices inspire to try new plants.

Warning... it reseed very easily. The baby plants are easy to identify and when you pull them up, it is so pleasant because of their fragrance! Love this segment!

Great video again, Laura. I really like the wreath and the arrangement that you did in the trophy vase. Great job. I also love the idea about putting a boxwood hedge around the cut flower garden. However, Laura, I don't think you should get rid of your rose garden. It's so beautiful, and I love the dedicated space for roses. Also, Laura, I do not think that you should plant those Linden trees in your cut flower/vegetable garden. Aaron had asked you in the video where you were buying the trees at the tree farm, if you wanted that much shade in your cut flower garden. My neighbour has a linden tree, it grows massive. Must be 100 feet high. It makes a mess in the fall and it burst through and destroyed her deck. I think such large trees will block the much needed sunlight from your cut flower/vegetable garden. It will also spoil the formal look of that space, especially how you added that beautiful fountain to that really nice formal area. I do not think you should plant those linden trees in that area.

The rooms were spacious, with large windows, so the dark painted walls looked really good with the thick white baseboards and beautiful radiator covers. WOW what a day. Free plants, breaking drip not once but twice, planting in new places, cutting plants and making a fantastic wreath and vase. Drying plants ect. Definitely a productive day. Wonderful. Thanks so very much for sharing this with us. 💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Laura, I want to tease you a little bit you said several weeks ago you needed to get a drip repairing tool kit in your buggy. You do it’ll be a pain in the butt to set up but it’ll be so much easier to have it in your gator as you’re driving around instead of having to stop what you’re doing and run back and get stuff that being said, how beautiful I’ve never seen or grown Artemisia, but it’s very feathery and very light looking, andkind of calming really kinda like it. You got a lot done you get a lot more done in one day than I get done in a month the garden as always, as beautiful and thank you so much for sharing your garden and your family with us.

    Those tomatoes have me drooling...!!
Like carrying an umbrella, bring extra drip line supplies! You'll double your chances of not hitting one! lol
The wreath was gorgeous! It flopping on the barn floor almost made me spit my tea out laughing though!

To me, it is from teaching about gardening...like showing how well the plant could perform for potential home gardener. She has worked in garden retail and people in nursery busines do test gardens to show plant bed "recipes".

Danke ! 🙋‍♀️👌👏🌻☕️🌞

In northwest Ohio Sweet Annie is sold in bundles at craft shows. Made into wreaths & put into vases for the lovely smell. Also sprinkled on carpet to then vacuum for the clean smell.
