Grinner for me onto the spool ...7 turns...never failed. 25lb backing line too. Never had a fish that s taken off more than 50 m of line. Tiddler snatcher! Thnx Den ...great as usual. I use a clip on rod thing, doesnt argue like the wife and no twist. Still leave my line in warm water over night with a couple of drops of Fairy etc. Hate spooling line!

    Hi Den
Bought the same container box and followed your instructions.
    Results; brilliant, works perfectly.
    Thanks again

Thanks for sharing that brilliant idea.

Respooling line is easy About 20 years ago I purchased a Berkly line spooling station 🙂 No mess adjustable tension .I do use the same loop knot method as yourself though Den Not sure how much it cost at the time But even some of my fishing buddies borrow it now and again

That's a really good idea to be fair. I've watched another of your videos, looks a nice place where you are. I've just started going after the Pike over here in The UK. Tight lines

Hi Den, you could use hot water to erase any memory from the difference in circumstance of spool size.

Great idea, I am eyeing up the pots in the kitchen already ;) I did see a guy insists on soaking the spool line for at least 24 hours before spooling on the reel?

Thanks Phill. There are many views about whether to soak the line, or use warm water, or put washing up liquid in. I just chuck it into the container to weight it down and stop the clattering noise as you reel in.😁😁👍👍

Do it on the banking then scoop the spool out after.

Or do it at night when your missus is asleep and blame the dog for all the water on the floor😂, great method den as usual 👍

I'd like to know where you purchased that container for £3-£4 . Amazon do it for £8.78

It was on special at Woolworths Barrie. Their current price is approx £6. You don't have to buy that box though. Anything similar will do.

    What about line twist?

I tested this method for line twist some weeks ago. There wasn't any. Here's the video: th-cam.com/video/oKjayNasnWU/w-d-xo.html

i was told many years ago that if you put the line on the reel the same way its spooled on the bulk spool you shouldnt go wrong, as nylon has a memory

Hi Den, I use the same method as yourself with small container, but I either put a drop of washing up fluid in water, or put a few drops of washing fluid neat on a cloth which I hold in front first eye to add pressure, and pull the new line through. This I find removes any grease/coating or manufacturing lubricants off the new line improving the sinking ability of the line in use 👍

Why do you need water? Why not just place the (dry) spool on the floor under the rod ring, so that the line is coming off the spool anti clockwise (no line twist)....and just reel applying the right amount of pressure. No mess, no cost, happy wife!....I've been doing it this way for 60 years - works perfectly!

I use the water to weight the container, lubricate the blanking grommet and take the noise level down. You might also like to watch this video: th-cam.com/video/oKjayNasnWU/w-d-xo.html It covers how to find out if your line is actually getting line twist or not.
