Renuka I don't agree with your judgement today towards the i20. The reason being its more claustrophobic and offers less space than the Honda Jazz. In my opinion the Honda is a clear winner here !!!!
I had finalized the Elite i20. It does have a better design - aesthetically, better features and many other things. Suddenly I came to know about this new Jazz and I booked it. Reasons are- Bigger space inside - usage 100% of time in car Better bhp- usage 100% of time Better fuel economy - usage 100% of time driving the car Bigger windows giving a big car feel - usage 100% of time Flatter but spacious rear seats- usage 100% of time 350 litre luggage space - very frequent thing to use. Now the i20 felt premium but has closed feel to cabin. No issues on leg room. It is equally comfortable. But Jazz gives you a feel of control with big rear and front wind shields and windows. Interior of Jazz is not bad at all. i20 features- are you going to use them ALL THE TIME? May be the better torque. But search out which one is faster in 0-100 kph. i20 is worth and tempting. Jazz is better choice.

2885 pk jazz is good for family and it is good for traveling because its space and convinent!its engine is noisy!where we compare jazz with other cars it has everything and more!but it doesnt give satisfaction.if take i20 it has something spl that attracts us.may be if you are not buying for family go for other car!if you are taking for particularly for family dont think go for jazz!my best opinion go for maruti suzuki breeza best car!where hundai and muruti car give you fun while driving where honda car gives u convinence and comfort!what you want pick up fun while driving or comfort?
It's a shame the Indian market gets the lowest of the low spec'd Jazz. In NZ we have the RS spec, superb new 1.5 earth dreams engine, larger 16 inch shadow rims, better interior and exterior trim. We've ours for nearly a year and it been incredible. I will never touch a Hyundai again, in terms of reliability and longevity, Honda wins hands down.

Jazz was the most awaited launch of year 2015. Honda Jazz has placed its variants very very wisely .It offers ABS+EBD to each and every variant and also price is almost similar to i 20. At some points , Jazz offers good combinations over i 20 (it may happen that customer may leave few comfort features of i 20 for safety features of Jazz). After all, in India, mileage is also a major decisive factor and people may tend to purchase Jazz as it also has a better space in-around it. Also Jazz comes with Honda City interiors and engine and those who can't ride Honda city can enjoy Honda's engineering through Jazz. Unlikely Hyundai has more expensive spare parts and due to more (unwanted ) features (like auto folding rear view mirrors) i20 may cost more during servicing.Jazz also has such features but one can by-pass it in entry level model with having ABS and EBD in it. Hyundai recommends servicing for quite long intervals and that is only the good point. Honda asks to change oil and fillers quite earlier than Hyundai and, in a year ,one may have to take car to service station for 3-4 times .(Honda KM wise intervals- 1000 KM or 1 month , 5000 KM or 3 months 10000 KM or 6 months,20000 KM or 1 year. Hyundai service intervals-1500 KM or 2 months , 10000 KM or 1 year 20000 KM or 2 years) . This is what I don't understand about Honda and Jazz may cost more labour charges and servicing charges than Hyundai. Still there's one point to add that Jazz's sheet metal body parts (doors,bonnet,hood etc.) are made in India and hence their price will be as same as other cars.

Autocar has come of age, this was a terrific comparison. I'm not in the market for one of these just yet but I'd get the Honda based on your review. Why? I'd suffer identity crisis with the i20 Elite. Plus I'm poetic and I'd give the underdog a chance. Ten years back, it was the other way around.
Buddy even suzuki sells well built cars all over the world..but in India all of these multi national companies sell crap... The european Swift scores 5* euroNcap safety ratings while the Indian version scores ZERO. Same brand, same product but difference in quality.. Same happens with other brands as well. Even the VW Polo failed the safety test conducted by EuroNcap...they sell cheaply made stuff here for cutting the cost.

Power? 1.2L engine of Volkswagen polo produces 74bhp, less than 82bhp of i20. Unless you're speaking of Polo GT which is obviously more powerful since its a 1.5L engine and 2 lakh costlier. Interiors? I don't think Polo's interior is better than Elite i20 which has been proved to be the best interior car within 7 lakh by several reviewers.

we purchased honda jazz, and i personally verified that honda is giving better technology and safety too. There is nothing cheap in the honda. And dont compare Ciaz with a City. Ciaz cant survive a crash with a Nano hitting it from behind. Maruti is cheap. Not the Honda. And Hyundai lacks proper suspension and ride dynamics.
No doubt i20 hav btr exterior and refined diesel engine.....but jazz is better in interior, fuel economy, powerful engine both P and D , btr handling , btr for city nd highway drive, magic seats, and above all its Honda!!
snce when did beige become more upmarket than all black ? most of the car makers have all black themes for their top spec'd models. reviewers should leave the looks out. a very personal matter. i'd rate the black interiors of the jazz along with that sexy blue themed dials much higher than the i20
You need to realise that in this segment, more than 30% of the sale is also of petrols and Jazz has a free revving better petrol engine with an auto option as well. As i request, please now also start looking at the petrol option and also advise your followers to switch to the greener and cleaner petrol motors by also comparing the petrols.
Given its space and practicality, Jazz should've been compared with Nissan Micra. Amazing space and fresh looks should make Jazz sell like hot cakes...if its priced well.
This was a nice comparo. Liked the fact, that better feature in the particular car was praised and less bashing of the other car. Also more important that it wasn't an All out praise about the Honda Product. Am very impressed with the amount of space one gets in Jazz, but thats also its downfall. It feels too vacant and empty (WRT the cabin) I was thoroughly impressed with the diesel motor on Hyundai Verna (Fluidic) when we go it. It just didnt have the trademark engine clatter that Diesel engines have. Same continues with this car. You cant hear the engine at idle unless you put your ear to the bonnet. What i20 offers is a car that up to the World standards. Its quite commendable they are doing this. Rest of the companies like Honda, Volkswagon, Suzuki etc are just trying to provide product at below par quality. They are able to sell such cheap quality cars because of their brand name.

why not compare the petrol engines also. really disappointed. also a car with a punchier engine will be better enjoyed at igh speeds for which it needs better high speed comfort and not exceptional low speed ride quality.
i only feel jazz is good in terms of space rest i feel elite i20 is better at every angle. Take features it wins , looks it wins , alloys n tyres it wins . Jazz would have been a good car if it had provided the same features what we get it international market.People now would like to prefer factory fitted equipments instead of going for aftermarket system. due to 90% localization there would be degradation in terms of quality. I dont kow why they have not given push button / keyless as these features are must now for next generation cars. I somehow feel elite i20 is still any day better car.

The petrol Jazz is much better than the I20 to drive. It has more space than the competition too. The o ly drawback is the higher cost of spares for the Honda.

sir actually all the features which i wrote are available in hyundai i20 elite except EBD. and at 30k lesser price. and hyundai has added touchscreen display nw. so tough fight for jazz. i waited for jazz for more than a year but the features i found quite low profile, i m ready to pay 50k to 1L more but with all there amenities.
yes but did you notice polo base model come with airbag and mid model comes with abs... both are missing in hyundai, maruti all sort of this brand.. The bottom line is manufacture has ideology either to give preference to stupid bells and whistle like key less entry or push start button or give preference to safety. well the difference is more pronounce european and japany brand more incline towards safety.. while maruti and hyundai give preference to this kind of features..
Hyundai is all about spec's how many can they fit in there cars. because if you are going for engines they don't even come close to the VW Polo or the Honda VTEC. VTEC is the engine which designed in all there formula one cars for the last 30 years. Hyundai has always tried to not cheat the consumer but spec up the car. So be wise do you really want the touch screen and visit the service station every year or do not want the touch screen and a better engine which you see every 10000 km.

This was a nice comparo. Liked the fact, that better feature in the particular car was praised and less bashing of the other car. Also more important that it wasn't an All out praise about the Honda Product. Am very impressed with the amount of space one gets in Jazz, but thats also its downfall. It feels too vacant and empty (WRT the cabin) I was thoroughly impressed with the diesel motor on Hyundai Verna (Fluidic) when we go it. It just didnt have the trademark engine clatter that Diesel engines have. Same continues with this car. You cant hear the engine at idle unless you put your ear to the bonnet. What i20 offers is a car that up to the World standards. Its quite commendable they are doing this. Rest of the companies like Honda, Volkswagon, Suzuki etc are just trying to provide product at below par quality. They are able to sell such cheap quality cars because of their brand name.

The Jazz is a true segment leader in terms of practicality, build quality, comfort and ride quality. Hyundai is a big no, though it offers lot of features it surely has quite big problems in its maintenance and engine in the long run. There have been many issues with engine failure in i20 even with many of my friends. Indian customers are easy to fool, offer good features and without letting them know the compromise in safety and quality, people still buy such vehicles. This strategy of Hyundai clearly doesn't work out in other countries in the Middle East and elsewhere for example, people do look for the long run,
honda diesel, does it really horrible in terms of nvh levels? I mean what you think does it really unacceptable & the nvh should be consider as deal breaker? some people says that it sounds very loud.

i20 feels good ,good looking, premium interior but in rear less space compare to jass
why not compare the petrol engines also. really disappointed. also a car with a punchier engine will be better enjoyed at igh speeds for which it needs better high speed comfort and not exceptional low speed ride quality.
What about the quality of the metal sheets and chassis in baleno? Is it very filmsy?

i only feel jazz is good in terms of space rest i feel elite i20 is better at every angle. Take features it wins , looks it wins , alloys n tyres it wins . Jazz would have been a good car if it had provided the same features what we get it international market.People now would like to prefer factory fitted equipments instead of going for aftermarket system. due to 90% localization there would be degradation in terms of quality. I dont kow why they have not given push button / keyless as these features are must now for next generation cars. I somehow feel elite i20 is still any day better car.

Hey i have been following the Honda Jazz 2015 from quite a long time and you have underrated jazz.Featuring a petrol battle between the two could have been better.
You could have a diesel and a petrol trophy.
What about the POLO? Is it too far ahead for the comparison?

The petrol Jazz is much better than the I20 to drive. It has more space than the competition too. The o ly drawback is the higher cost of spares for the Honda.
+Krishnan Ravichandran elite petrol is much better with extra throttle on it..and its family car with large interior space

Jazz positives... ~20% better fuel economy, less need to work engine/gears in town, better steering, more space for passengers and cargo.
i20 positives - better dashboard materials...pepper engine.

sir actually all the features which i wrote are available in hyundai i20 elite except EBD.
and at 30k lesser price.
and hyundai has added touchscreen display nw. so tough fight for jazz.
i waited for jazz for more than a year but the features i found quite low profile, i m ready to pay 50k to 1L more but with all there amenities.

yes but did you notice polo base model come with airbag and mid model comes with abs... both are missing in hyundai, maruti all sort of this brand.. The bottom line is manufacture has ideology either to give preference to stupid bells and whistle like key less entry or push start button or give preference to safety.
well the difference is more pronounce european and japany brand more incline towards safety.. while maruti and hyundai give preference to this kind of features..
Hyundai is all about spec's how many can they fit in there cars. because if you are going for engines they don't even come close to the VW Polo or the Honda VTEC. VTEC is the engine which designed in all there formula one cars for the last 30 years. Hyundai has always tried to not cheat the consumer but spec up the car. So be wise do you really want the touch screen and visit the service station every year or do not want the touch screen and a better engine which you see every 10000 km.
2015 polo is any way better than both of these cars if you consider driving comfort and safety....
