Been watching all your vids an im definitely a beginner done a cpl small tats years ago ,the tips an confidence you spread has been such a huge help ,bought a mast fold pro just days ago an working on some fake skin , the tips on shading has my tat coming to life ,used to pencil sketch landscapes an was a bit worried about trying to shade with needles but your tips turned all of it around an its definitely got me more inspired an confident in my art

The skin turns overly red when I am shading and after it heals, the tattoo is very light. Would this mean that I am not putting the needles deep enough and just scratching the skin?
For people who dont know or understand what a curved mag is.. could you please explain. Im learning with an old school corded rotary so my needles and other supplise are different than what you show. I just went with a less expensive machine for learning purposes. Thanks.
what’s your thoughts on dragonhawk machines I got one as a starter but I’m open to recommendations on different machines 😁😁😁 loving the videos have helped to much used your line work technique and got the cleanest line ( I’ve been practicing for 3 weeks )
Im into trad and neo trad. Now, you use 4.2 throw for line work and packing colors on trad and neo trad. Could you also use 4.2 when whip shading or do you need to switch to 3.5?

Hi, I have a question. So I tried a little bit of realism shading, and it left too much of those needle "dots" which doesn't fit into realism I think. Is it because I use standard mag, or because I move too fast, or don't go deep enough? Thank you for the video though!
On the label there will be a number 1221rm means standard size(12) 21 needles(21) round mag (rm) bugpin needles will be 1021rm (10 meaning smaller guage needle or bugpin) Hope this helps😎
Traditional / most cartoon characters are drawn with one line weights which would be easiest to translate to a tattoo, since you’d only be using one needle like a 9rl . Also because you’re using a more solid needle you’ll see less shakes than a 3rl. Hope this helps !

I use a 4.2 stroke machine and just lower the voltage if I’m doing soft shading , seems to do the job !
What voltage u running it then? I will figure out the speed but need to know what voltage..i have a 4.0 mm

The “mast fold pro” is a really good adjustable stroke pen style machine for a decent price.

If you’re lifting to whip shade, doesn’t it decrease needle depth and the ink will fade quickly? How do you get dots at the proper depth?
Yes it will add to the affect if it’s fades alittle. Helps with the transition.

I could be wrong but maybe use a smaller needle gauge and slow down ur hand speed. When u shade u dont have to go that deep as lining or packing..
