Thank you for your fresh and honest depiction of the art and artist. You manage beautifully with your handling of movement and grace as you take us on your journey. Thank you for sharing the artists and the galleries. It is always a joy!
Lovely of you to share, it's been so long since I've stepped foot into a gallery. How times have changed. Thanks for taking me in! Just enjoyed the whole experience! 🎨
Most any burger is better than In N Out. Thanks for the tour. Good to see Calder.. timeless. Also thanks for the introduction to Halley, Benzo and Iglesias. .. where I see a bit of Rousseau. Liked and subscribed.
I appreciate the quiet dialogue. I at first played it while I painted but when you stopped talking I had to stop painting and just look. Some times I forget that quiet is the best "noise" while I paint. I've never been to a LA gallery, so thanks for the experience.
Yes, I liked the frank appraisal on the first show too which adds another layer of engagement. Though I didn't connect with too much of the artwork this time there was such a variety of approaches and that's an experience in itself.
Thanks for a(nother) look at L.A. galleries. I've visited L.A. a few times, but still don't know much about any of the art galleries there. And I wanna go there again (from Santa Barbara) in the Summer. We had an exhibition of Peter Halley's art here at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art about six or seven years ago. A lot of contemporary art doesn't appeal to me, but - on principle - I like to see people using their imaginations...
Very much agree with you on the Condo show. I'm a big fan of his but this show just seems like more of the same, as opposed to his previous two shows in New York. For me, he seemed to be evolving in a very interesting direction in those two New York shows( You should be able to find them on TH-cam). On another note, It's interesting to catch glimpses of the streets of L.A., the ugly streetscapes, as opposed to the beautifully landscaped buildings of the galleries themselves. Just a thought. As always though, thank you for the videos, always enjoy them.
I look forward to the coming phase of precision art coming back ( Julie Bell, Lucia Heffernan, Nano Lopez ,etc. ) and out with this rudimentary child art .
I agree with you completely! The works of Richard Schmid, Tibor Nagy, Jeremy Mann, Cesar Santos, Jeremy Lipking and many others are true artists. The more traditional artist has to learn the basic fundamentals of value, colour, edge and drawing to accomplish great art. It is extremely difficult to master techniques in values, colour and drawing in art. Art that simply splash on large patches of colour doesn't have to worry about drawing skills or getting values and colours correct. This is very difficult to do. One day I hope the ignorant public will wake up from their 'woke' crap on art and finally appreciate great art that employs basic skills and artitistic sensitivity in producing great art.
Well you really packed a lot into this and it's mostly thumbs up for me. Not a fan of Condo but after seeing this show I'm really warming up to his work. I actually think just the opposite of what you stated and feel this is a very strong body of work however I do quite like the abstract picture that you mentioned. Good to hear your own thoughts as well. Loved the ceramic stuff and while I've always liked Peter Halley's stuff, at the end of the day, for me, it's just expensive decoration and I don't see that it has anything whatsoever to do in any way shape or form as social commentary.
Yeah I agree with some of the other posts...the studio/gallery spaces are almost better looking than the art. It looks like Condos paints the same painting over and over. Style over substance. AND I really can do w/o the "artful" splashes. I see you are doubling your vid length time. BRAVO.I applaud your consistent craftsmanship. I hope you are getting paid for all your excellent work.
Not a huge fan of a lot of the art but respect it. Too many comments here are unnecessarily negative. Some comments gave the flair of NYC elitism. Having gone to school then lived in NYC and now WeHo based, those elitism comments are especially off base
these two manufactured revolutionaires seen at 3:25 are the real artists. By including paintings by real artists as the background aesthetic for a carefully color cooridinated compliment to their outfits, which I assume to be last seasons couture brand "streetwares", they have managed to not only demonstrate the authenticity of their sophisticated taste for culture and meaurable patronage to the arts community, while also impressing their instagram followers and surely amassing dozens of 'likes' per each adderal influenced highly edited instagram images.
the first two galleries artwork adds to the confusion of life as well as the artist. I love Calder's early work. Halley's work has nice colors I do not think he reached his goal. Schmalix muted colors and cartoon figures did not impress me. These artists need to go back to the drawing board. the moving artwork is interesting and profound Du's work is interesting but nothing that has not been done before. Benzos is very cool as well as Iglesias work thank you for the art show in LA
Just want to shout-out the fact of having a level of respect to blur the faces of gallery visitors. It's such an uncommon thing to see in videos in recent years.
Nothing new in the west, I would say Weak Art to this art or Infantile Art, I can't help but marvel at this immaturity. "Herman's Ceramics embrace the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi", I hope that the artist does not promote his art as Wabi-Sabi, because this ceramic art has nothing to do with it. This is exactly the problem of today's art, it tries to interpret the tradition (mostly imitating great artist) without understanding the essence.
wow LA looks nothing like the movies and the art looks nothing like art. im so glad all the humans care about what happens online rather then the physical world all the next generation picassos and micheal angelos exist in minecraft now.
Exceptions... Calder. Halley.. a bit of interest as well as Benzo and Iglesias who is obviously a Rousseau fan. The rest was attention getting , look at me, look at me..not much more.
I watch Art like my friends watch football. I yell at Art, and artists. I curse, a lot. I clap and hoot, etc. in other words, all Art talks -at least to me. some like prophets, others like a sick baby, Those silent ones may catch me off, but silence speaks as well so I speak /react back Thanks @MLB
Post modern clichès + poor abstract expressionism. A pastiche or even a caricature of an artwork. Now I now how Sartre used to feel, I too feel nauseous.
Thank you for your fresh and honest depiction of the art and artist. You manage beautifully with your handling of movement and grace as you take us on your journey. Thank you for sharing the artists and the galleries. It is always a joy!
Wrong on Halley, tho.
Like hearing your thoughts Mary Lynn, feels more engaging and it's always good to hear an opinion over a description.
I love this ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video. Thank you.
cool show, thanks for making this
Thanks I enjoyed every moment
An education for me. Thanks for sharing.
I like artworks in the Board, LA. I always be there with my family.
Nice work !! Thumbs up for the ponytail. You wear it well !!
Love these LA Galleries. Wish there were more coverage of these spaces.
Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to get my own Art Gallery here in Jamaica
Love the new Hauser & Wirth space, thanks for sharing. Hope to be visiting myself at some point.
Lovely of you to share, it's been so long since I've stepped foot into a gallery. How times have changed. Thanks for taking me in! Just enjoyed the whole experience! 🎨
Thanks to you and your team for sharing this with all of us!!
Some of Condos paintings do have A de Kooning's Woman feel. Love it !!
I agree… in the first exhibit… the abstract and that one with the blue man profile feel settled and quality. Thank you. I like the guitar music
Bravo!!! So well done… we’re so lucky!!!
Love your videos and your honey like voice that use words that are sharp like a palet knife❤😊

I enjoy your gallery visits!

Everything looks so macabre.
Well done. Saw the exhibit of the Condo paintings and I felt they had a very bold, rock n roll spirt.
perfect analysis on the Condo show

Saw you at Friezie , too shy to say hello. Love your videos!
Aww next time say hello! I love meeting people in “real life”

@@MaryLynn_Buchanan Mary Lynn, you have such a gentle and eloquent way of describing the art we see.

Precision? Rudimentary? Maybe Photography is the answer? LOL.
I'd like to have that Karma Gallery space as my studio space.
if your ever in Tribeca and want to do an open studio visit. I think it could be a cool video!
I am incredibly jealous that you got to see Condo's work in person !
좋은 예술 작품 감상 잘보았습니다
감사합니다
Love Condo. Abstract is the way in our times. We don't need to be painting like cameras were never invented.
A crude view, if that's how you see figurative art.
Well you really packed a lot into this and it's mostly thumbs up for me. Not a fan of Condo but after seeing this show I'm really warming up to his work. Really an amazing
Pace Gallery looks familiar. I think they filmed some of Ray Donovan there!

Infantile. Have you ever seen works of Robert Lenkiewicz (UK)?
Yes on Herman ceramics.

I think you saved the best for last
Mary Lynn... she is beautiful
Hubert, very well...
Mary, do you also work in fashion?
The digital works by Anadol seem timely, eh what?
You’re gonna one day talk shit about my work and I’m going to appreciate it
Exhibition should be called The Day of the Lord

She the platform...the artists that them... She A-plus.
Modern art often looks like a tribal art with strong flavor of 3 years old playing with pencils.
Copy a famous artist nearly to the T=Get in gallery.
AI definitely is working wonders...this stuff all looks the same!
Sorry i'm not Sorry...btw i have copyrighted Sorry i'm not Sorry!
Ai is not doing anything for an actual decent viewer, it’s just another version of this crap modern art corrupt of any value

I totally agree!

Marina Iglesias, muy bien ...
qué pinturas más feas
Solo pinturas y esculturas que pretenden ser arte porque están en una "Galeria" una mimica del arte

I note that my comment was effectively a response Condos work, which, if it were attempting to “speak” to me, I would hastily make myself scarce
Como todo lo actual, pintura chatarra, instantánea, pintura de paso, veloz, sin inteligencia, estudio, en fin

Most of the art work was pretty lame and derivitive. We need a critique from Ongo Gablogian.
