    My uncle and his friend were among the 18 people who lost their lives when this ship sinked. They both were in early 20's.
    I had only heard stories from my elders that how my uncle drowned after the ship sinked. Your videos covering Prosperity shipwreck has given those stories visual form, thanks a lot.

      One of our worst disaster at sea around Guernsey. I’ve been told stories that if they had stayed onboard they probably could of walked ashore in the daylight and been safe.

    Wow that is quite a history to that ship! If that was the middle of the ship will more dives happen to find the actual bell? Great footage of the wreckage and a great amount of honour. Has anyone ever gone down to take anything from the ship there too?

      I will get back there sometime to explore more of the wreckage and do a follow up vid. There has been a bit or salvage done on her over the years. Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻

    We did it in the late 80’s off Bonky’s boat, the lads had some bottles from inside, there was more to it then

      Interesting dive. You could of been the last lads to dive it I’m guessing then ?

      I will be doing more dives and research on this shipwreck. I have stacks of information to share also. I have asked for the headstone to be retouched up and cleaned. They have said they have the funds to carry out the work and also the capacity so I’m hoping to see it looking like new again soon. I will post a video on this also. I hope my video helped with your losses. Stay safe and thanks for watching. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Thanks JP for the excellent footage. The whole wreck looks very instable to me. It's difficult to see where you are actually looking at. It's so camouflaged! Nevertheless, it's sad to hear that 18 people lost their lives. Pour souls.

    • @scubadive
      @scubadive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks M. It’s a complete mess down there and even though it was peaceful now, at one time it must have been very scary. I’m unsure if they ever found the last two people which makes it even more unnerving that maybe they were stuck inside the boat when it was tossed upside down. 😢 very sad story and instead of covering the story of all the bounty of timber that washed ashore I covered the loss of lives instead. It’s something we all forget about sometimes. Remember the good but try and forget the bad 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks

    • @MarinkaKlaver
      @MarinkaKlaver 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scubadive It must have been very scary for them. The dive is not without danger for yourself too. Please take care,.especially when you're on your own. You did well to telll the human story behind it, instead of the materials. Respect!
