Lyrics:
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

I have a feeling that we didn't give this song the credit it deserved when it was released... Was a success, but i think that deserved even more
🙂🤪
I agree
This song is profound and people who laugh at it (like the other comment) I hope they never know how hard life can be. Because life is HARD.
I know I did... Cuz when this came out, my best friend died in a car crash leaving my house, not long after this song came out. She was 22 (going to be 23) 😔 RIP Brittany 🙏
We don’t search for old songs..
we search for old memories.
Decades later people will realize the depth of this line…..
Its funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different
❤😭no words. This comment is so true.

This. such a short statement
that immediately hits home 🤘🏽
The Grammys died the day this song lost to "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas for best pop single.
w r Tell me about it, this song is catchy and yet still actually has a deeper meaning when you listen to the lyrics
w r this is a meaningful and relatable song. Reminds me of my ex girlfriend in some ways and the unhealthy friendships I had as a kind. Not a good connotation but I’ve always appreciated meaningful music over the kind of drivel that people blast driving down the street today
w r I had no idea that it lost. WTF there song is crap!
Grammy 2007. Shame.
My Humps was dope. But I don't watch award shows for that reason. RDR2 should have won goty over GOW but whatever.

@@ultranitro437 A great/epic/good song is that no matter the Year or politics or anything else!

@@emorywolfe8442 You have splendid taste in music my friend👌
Ikr 😭😭 I remember the first time I heard this one 🥹
I have a ton of good memories associated with The Fray. They blew up when i was 16. Three of the first girls i kissed this brings me back to. Maddie, Morgan and Megan. Maddie and Megan were ballerinas. My brother, friends and I were wrestlers. We were listening to this at a bonfire in the sticks burning random stuff everyone throwing things in the fire. The next day my brother, friends and I filled 2 suitcases with beer and liquor and took off in my first car, a pontiac grand am to south carolina. We were teenagers so we had to bring alcohol. We stayed in a condo off the beach, partied, swam in the ocean and visited the house of blues at night to dance. I met a girl on the dance floor I spent some time with there that I never seen again. I was dating Maddie and we fell out, she called when I was in SC and told me she loved me. Im still friends with Megan. I love this band. My life at 15-16 felt like one big summer music video for the Fray lol they will always be special to me.
Cool story Hansel

The older I get , the better the entire How to Save a Life really gets. The Fray really is under appreciated

The fray helped me through some pretty dark times too.

My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.

Can we just appreciate how amazing The Fray are? Once they became the complete band they have remained a symbol of what it means to be just a great band. They don't do drugs, they don't party or do anything obscene, yet they have huge tours, make top selling albums, and deliver songs of passion and true emotion. You never see them reported for scandals because they don't get caught in the modern culture of acting crazy and being extravagant. They play, record, and perform. That's it, and they are famous for just that, nothing else. How beautiful is that? How many bands or musicians can truly say they are famous solely because of their music and nothing else at all? I absolutely love The Fray for they are simply amazing.

Yes , Me As Well. For Some Reason , I Act Like I'm In The Video 😂😂😂
Honestly, even after 10 years they're still my favorite band. Their most recent album isn't bad, you should go ahead and listen to some of those songs. It's really sad though that they aren't getting as much recognition that they truly deserve. It's a shame that this generation isn't into good music like there was in 2005.
Their first two albums, The Fray and How to Save a Life were pretty good imho, and both generated big singles. I didn't like scars and stories too much but I think Helios is a bit better.
+Izzy S I'm 12 and my generation has parents that just do expose them to this kind of music which is kind of sad. But my parents do expose my to good music not just weird pop trash. But don't get me wrong I do like pop

Anyone else think the piano chords sound like Closer by Chainsmokers?

A decade later and she’s still on my mind.

31 and still missing this time a lot
28 here :/ the nostalgia mannnnn
Turning 28 soon mine too!
The songs about the lead singer and his brother who used to be in The Fray and basically the falling out the two had when he left or got cut from the band. "I wish you were a stranger I could disengage" - makes sense about the situation between the brothers. You wanna let go of them but its hard when its your family.
so his brother is a she?
Correct! "Cable Car" was his nickname, as well. I believe his real name is Caleb.
+itis LUCIAN "shes on your mind" the "your" is refering to his brother the "she" is just some chic. to me it sounds like they wete fighting over a girl but idk
+Luke Hemmings every one takes a message of a song a different way
Right on, i read about it on lyric genius haha, for people confused heres the link the song being "deciphered" essentially :)

3:33 Piano chords sound like “Closer” The Chainsmokers
i thought about that too!
I remember being in middle school watching this on TV on VH1 on “Artists you should know”
Eu ouvia isso a uns 14 fuck years atrás kkk do nada lembrei
Bons tempos
Cadê os BRS DAS ANTIGAS 💀
The fray já me salvo muito mano!
For some reason this reminds me of early Coldplay, back when they were good.
