    Wonderful news. I'm an adoptive dad myself Neil and I can tell you it's an amazing journey. In fact I'm seriously considering bringing one or both of my boys down to visit your museum and also Alex's arcade later this year.

    Is it only me that noticed Neil said Dragons Lair when talking about Double Dragon??

    • @ThisWeekinRetro

      I noticed as we recorded but didn't want to interrupt him mid flow. I did however just notice for the very first time.... Dragon Slayer. Is that intentional? Did everybody else but me know they sound the same?

    It was wonderful to visit and I don't regret being there two Saturdays in a row, especially as I brought along some friends the second time. It was a pleasure to met you guys and I was especially happy to meet Holly, too.
    Have to say, I have never stood in front of an Arcade machine, and didn't think I would even be interested, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.

    Would love for you guys to recommend your top 5 games of all retro platforms. And do a retro game club where we can either submit to a scoreboard (honestly of course lol) or some type of multiplayer, netplay, parsec in a league format.

    The reason people try to make these ports ( to the best of their abilities) and play them on an amiga rather than mame, is the same reason why they target ocs/ecs over aga. Thats the amiga model most people had. Most didnt have an a1200 and definately not an arcade machine or a sharp x68000. They want to see what their machine could do and the challenge of making that a reality, rather than the tripe served up by us gold and tiertex.

    Congraturation Neil! This story is happy end! A papa is you!
    Regarding Mario / Popeye. Miyamoto originally wanted to make a Popeye game in 1980. He says he couldn't get the sprites to look good enough so he then created Mario, DK and Pauline based on the characters from Popeye. A few years later Nintendo were able to secure the license and he finally got to make his Popeye game.

    I hope neither of had/have jobs where you need to be good at maths. Couldn't even take 15 from 2009! 😂
    For me the best version of Final Fight, despite not being quite arcade perfect, is Final Fight CD for the Mega-CD. Recommend anyone who hasn't played this port to play it as the music is fantastic. I wish Capcom would release a modern port version of the game for current consoles with arcade perfect graphics but the choice to have the original sound or the Mega-CD's.

    This new super final fight is really interesting. The person doing it seems to be a gfx guy. I was wondering if he was gonna use the enhanced engine, which I think is open source?, and supplant his gfx on top?

    Steamdb calculates the value of your games and they don't need to be public, does lowest prices and current ones, also shows number of games and percentage of games played as well as hours played.

    I have hundreds of unplayed Steam games, however, most of them come from charity bundles or publisher bundles where I have either have no idea what they are or may well have played the games pre-Steam. I still have dozens that I do/did intend to play so it getting harder and harder to justify any new purchases, even if they are so tempting in the sales…

    As for Popeye, he's existed since 1929, just not as a video game 😉
    As for the Shame Game, I'm not going to give my data up to a data harvesting bot. This one may be harmless but it could (and has in many other cases) lead to a false sense of security.

    I was happy to see " 15 Years of LGR" in the intro. Thought I would see them have a nice little discussion about Clint and the influenced he has made in the retro world. I have to say i was a bit let down by the segment. Clint was barely mentioned and the discussion focused more on DOS emulators & what was available when Clint first started. With Clint's name thrown in here and there. This should have been all about Clint and maybe some of their favorite videos of his.

    • @ThisWeekinRetro
      @ThisWeekinRetro  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I'm sorry if you don't think what we're doing is good enough. We put a lot of hours into each episode and we release one each week, we try our very hardest. This means we would not have the time needed to do a full retrospective on Clint's 15 years of youtube. Additionally we talk about what we want to talk about and we always use the stories we cover as a springboard. We use user submissions from the subreddit and discuss them. Having watched the video that Clint made we talked about similar things to what he did.

    • @sergnh6384
      @sergnh6384 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThisWeekinRetro Never said I don't think what your doing is not good enough. The whole show was up to your usual great standards. I have just seen segments on other people where you have definitely focused on that person a bit more. Of course no one was looking for a full retrospective on Clint's career considering the length of the show and of each story.

    The original Donkey Kong was meant to be the Popeye intellectual property. It wasn't a rip-off of the game Popeye, but rather the cartoon.

    I'm watching this one late, but I was amused by the comment about Client rebranding to LGR. It's weird that LGR and RMC both traded in perfectly good names - "Lazy Game Reviews" and "Retro Man Cave" - in exchange for meaningless initials. I guess it hasn't hurt viewers finding you, but it certainly seems like it would.

    I was happy to see that 15 years of LGR was in the intro. However, the 1st half of the segment barely mentioned Clint. Than the 2nd half mentioned a bit more Clint but still didn't really discuss Clint. Discussed more about DOS emulators & what was available when Clint started.

    I'm sorry, but as someone who started playing games on both computers and consoles in the late 80's that controller/console rant just made me roll my eyes. It just came across as uninformed and out of touch. There are no "console games" and "computer games", there are just "games".
    Even back in the 80's you had both simple linear games AND more advanced open games. A game being designed for a controller does in no way mean it's simple or dumbed down. Baldur's Gate 3, one of the most acclaimed rpg's of all time was designed for both controller and K&M.
    And Dark Souls is absolutely a rpg. Just not the same type of rpg as Ultima Underworld.
    And there absolutely is a middle ground between open world and linear games. Maybe the new Indy game drops you in say a temple and let you explore the area at your own leisure? Solving puzzles to find hidden treasures?
