Saved our washer! Thank you so much for such a clear and helpful video! Our washer stopped draining and when we opened our drain filter up we found 3 socks among other small “trinkets” 😂 we will be sure to clean ours twice a year now for sure!!!
Thank you. I was watching other videos of how to clean the drain, but no one showed how to get the panel off. You saved me $125, from calling a repairman.
I never knew my washer had a filter until it came up in conversation with a customer of mine. It had been probably twelve years since I bought it so I was prepared for the worst. It wasn't as bad as I'd expected but definitely needed attention. A good tip for pet owners is make sure you check the holes behind the bottom of the rubber seal in the machine for hair. Also small articles of clothing can get trapped in there. Thanks for the vid!
Wish I watched this video first, I googled whirlpool front load filter and the first thing that came up suggested that the filter was installed on the back, I unscrewed like 15 bolts to get the back cover off only to find out it's on the front, I knew I should have stopped like half way. I was like, "there's too many bolts just to access the pump filter. So basically, my washer is working all right, except when it drains there's this exceptionally horrible smell, when I first got the machine it didn't have that smell, and over time the smell was getting stronger. I didn't even know the filter existed. About 3 years later, I realized the filter needed to be cleaned out, I braced myself and expected to find a caked up filter. To my surprise it wasn't all to horrible, there was mild build up and lots of coins, a rooted dollar, and a chain I thought I lost. I had to let the cap run under water to clear out the excess gunk and then sprayed it down with cleaner and scrubbed it down. Some stains were left from the rotting coins. But once I ran the cap under water the water ran clear. I'm really hoping that smell issue is resolved now. My machine is about to drain the water now. I'm crossing my fingers....
@@sqfn08 usually the smell is from it not draining properly, there could also be mold build up in/around door seal you can try checking for that and cleaning it with a cleaning solution
I appreciate this video!! I wish the money I found was spendable…instead, among other things, I found $100 bill shredded haha. Would have been lost without this! Thanks!!
Excellent I was wondering how you get to the filter. I never cleaned the filter in 10 years the machine still works but I don’t want to wait until it clogs. Thanks a million
Thank you SO much! I did indeed find a child's sock amongst other things. Super easy to follow your instructions. We will definitely be checking twice a year!!
ty, cleaned out my disgusting filter filled with black/grey/yellow gunk, nails, change and other random crap. thing still leaks like crazy so i guess the drain pump is no good?
Awesome video! I think my model is a little bit older than yours (not sure how much older but mine looks just like yours just missing a few of the buttons yours has).. my problem is my screws (bolts?) don't have any pilot holes to use a screw driver on, they're smooth? What could I use to get them off..? Should I tip the washer and maybe use a wrench? No idea
I had no idea this was a thing. I can't imagine what is in my washer filter as I hv never checked it and we bought our washer secondhand in 2009. Ugh! My clothes are coming out w/a funky smell to them as if they were never washed. Do those washer cleaning tabs work to clean & sanitize washer? Or should I use an additive in the wash to get the build-up of chemicals from the detergent & dryer sheets off my clothes? Thanks for the video. 😊
Check the filter for sure! I’ve never used any cleaning tabs or additives. I just check my filter every year and leave my door open to let the seal dry after each wash
Hi mine is leaking after I put cover back on, and had to use Cresent wrench to get it off. Any suggestions before I call a repairman to tighten it for me?
look closely and the black seal on the inside of the piece that you unscrewed. I’d make sure it’s clean and now crimped or torn any place. You may be able to get a replacement if it’s damaged but I’ve never looked in detail.
@@karlagv1994 it could be in the back if you don’t have a front panel. Try following this video…not sure if he says the specific model but it looks similar to yours! th-cam.com/video/LWiEBkjFq_4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y2m6vWRgfxPgH7tU

Yeah because Whirlpool designs these awfully.

That was an easy fix!! You saved me from having to call a repairman!! Thank you!!
Thank you.. I found part of an old sock in there. Definitely fixed my problem.
You're welcome!

Twelve years here too and I am getting ready for the battle

Whirlpool is the worst! Other brands have an easy-access door on the front of the washer. Thanks for the tutorial, dad.
I have to agree with you, a nightmare trying to open it
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much. That fixed my washer😊
Nice! Done. Found change. Thanks!

thank you so much for making this video!
thank you so much i guess now i need to hope my never emptied for 10 years filter is full lol of course it was full and the stink lol thanks again
Thanks for making this video, I was told to put a screwdriver in the panel and it should open easily- it doesn’t. Won’t buy Whirlpool again
Thank you!

It may not open from the front then…are there any screws on the back to take a panel off? Some washers the filter is in the back!

Found a quarter, 2 pennies starburst(water came out red), and makeup stick.
😂 it’s doing it’s job I guess!
My washer wasn't draining. Did this and it unleashed about 8 gallons of water... I flooded my laundry room.
My machine is a whirlpool front load and the face plate is one big plate! 😩 how do I take it off?
yours might not be behind the front plate, do you know the model name/number?
Front load whirlpool washer model number WFW94HEAWO
