You're right about those "Spirit" units being reported. Prior to this video I've seen two Virtual Railfan grab bags with it, and two B&O RR vidoes on it too. CSX really made a lot of people's day putting all three of them together, with the high and wides. I really like 1776's paint, more of them would be awesome.
Great catch! All three special liveries on the one train. Thanks from across the pond in the UK. We may be in two different countries, sharing the same gauge of track, but such different practices.. Oh and Ferroequinologists are to be found almost anywhere there's a railway track.
Awesome catches Rowan, I also went railfanning at Cumberland and I caught; - Q331 with SD50-3 8619 trailing - C40-8W 7777 - MP15T 1231 - GCK 7496 (In the CSX Stealth paint) - SD60M 8763 - and lots more
Hi Rowan. Great videos each and everyone, I am in the northeast and we only have Norfolk,CSX. In the old days there was some amazing colors that were here. The only thing that remains Is the old structures, depots and the NY central terminal. So much of the history has been torn down. Some has been saved and made into small shops and such. Anything to keep that history alive! Happy and safe hunting out there keep safe and well.
The middle of the night? There's no stopping you. So great to see these commemorative locomotives in action. If you weren't out with your camcorder at 3am, we wouldn't be seeing it. Thank you.
Man what a great catch! Had I known and didn't have to rush from work at 0430 to run fire duty, I would've met you at Featherstone to watch it. (My shop in off Route 1 in Lorton) The Spotsylvania VRE station is right next to my apartment complex. I watch trains from my balcony all the time!
Outstanding work to bring this to the armchair public! Operating 3-4 a.m. is more than dedication. Hope your day job isn't at a saw mill starting 6 a.m.!
Those locos look awesome and the light makes them look even better. I love heritage or special liveried locos. But to get 3 on one train is even better
Rowan thanks for being out there for us capturing the CSX special locos at such an unearthly hour, did something similar in the UK many years ago, great video, stay safe, stay well
I’m reaching out to you Rowan because I don’t know any other way, all of Railfan Michael’s video’s now have restricted comments and I hope he is ok. If you see him while foaming or have a way to let him know I appreciate all his content and hope nobody has left inappropriate comments. Railfan Michael and Rowan are by far my favorite Railfans from the Virginia area!
@Railfan Rowan I Caught Q409-18 At Lorton VRE Train Station At 3:47 A.M. I Also, Caught Those Same 2 Coal Trains You Caught, Prior To Seeing Q409. An Empty One Going Back To The Coal Fields, I Counted At Least 200 Cars, And T315 Going To Santee Cooper's Cross Generating Station In Cross, South Carolina.
Great video you are very lucky to catch CSX Q409 but when it came by me it was CSX Q410 the last I knew they were coming back Down to Georgia and if I'm right he is going from Waycross Georgia to Selkirk New York and Selkirk New York is 3 hours from me but I couldn't make it in time
Kotabeaner , here in SW Florida, got some awesome video of #1776 and #3194. #911 was not with them. He has video of it sitting right in front of him and the conductor even got out and chatted a while. Lots of pacing shots, too. Look him up...Kotabeaner! BTW...daylight shots...with a drone...up close... Rowan, I told Kotabeaner that I saw those units on your channel...he’ll probably check out your video!!!
Amazing video! Its awesome how CSX will put all 3 of the special locos in one train! Any other company will just treat the heritage units/tribute schemes like a regular old loco.
That was cool. Glad you chased it for a better view. Saw these units on another train, but they were in different positions. 911 was leading on that one.
Wonderful video Rowan!!! Thank you for taking the time to go out and record this train at these early hours of the day! You were really enjoying taking this video. Keep up the great work!
Fun Fact: They're running them as an fra mandate because if they let them sit for so long they have to classify them as legally dead Locomotives which means they'd have to Tag them and ultimately sell them Basically meaning if they sit for longer than a year, they have to deactivate them off the roster and sell them. So to answer all of your questions, these units should be out most likely at the end of 2021
I got to see 911 as well on a loaded coal (N769 from grafton wv to Baltimore md)! Took the OML and got it at historic sykesville md! Also the E750 takes the met from the rf&p to the Cumberland sub!(just for fun info)
Great video Rowan. I always love your enthusiasm, presentation, dedication - and at those early hours of the morning it's nothing less - and the way your personality shines through. Many thanks
Wow! What beauties these locomotives are. We can't thank our law enforcement, first responders. and armed forces enough for the job they do and the sacrifices they make to protect us! Thanks Rowan for posting this great video. Also, a big thank you to CSX for these tribute locomotives.
Great video Rowan!!! Thanks for sticking it out and capturing it on video for us and thanks to CSX for putting those 3 special locos on the same train!
Awesome catch Rowen. Definitely a one of a kind train, including the strapped down tankcars. I love your enthusiasm and how you brief your viewers along the way. That's why I support your channel.
Man you rolled right past my place in Stafford, VA. Wish I knew she was coming through, I would have caught her at the Brooke VRE station like you did down in Spottsy.
Great catch,Rowan, and the luck of the Irish, must be working overtime 👍!! Beautiful engines, and like the NS,thankfully they are in circulation,so everyone has a chance to see them!! Add,the nice part,on CSX,some hoppers still carry NYC(ex Conrail),markers, neat, and keeps one's eyes open!!! Thanks again!
Really appreciate your efforts to bring us this video. So what is a suicide crossing? You never finished the explanation, which is understandable at that late hour.
Skillfully done! You picked the perfect spot for the last encounter, with good lighting and the train moving slower. That's a hallmark of your videos; detailed knowledge of where to get the best shots and doing what it takes to make it happen!
Awesome video brother.. watching Ashland cam on VRF this morning and caught it heading southbound.. earlier in the week headed northbound.. Has to be the greatest Lashup’s! You were up super early,Dedication! 🇺🇸💪🏽
Great Video & Great Chase!! These are some of the best commemorative units out there... the detailing especially on the long hood and the flags etched on the windows really set them apart. And the fact that they all have RS5T horns makes it even better!
Great video as always Rowan, really cool catch, cool you got to see that. You are on the grind to 30k subs right now awesome bro. Stay safe, god bless, and happy filming!!!👍
Awesome video Rowan!!! Glad you were able to see Q409 and that I was able to help you track it! Now it's my turn to see it haha 🔥🤙🏾
Well ok

You’re the Very 1st person I’ve Ever Seen that was Recording Trains at 3:11am, Eastern Time.😬👍
I’ve done it lots haha 😂

A shame they snuck this through in the night again. Great catch!👍
Yes, very much agreed!

@@RailfanRowanI’m going to Washington, D.C. in L’Enfant plaza tomorrow
Csx #911 just passed me on the Toledo Sub-line. What a beauty!
Great catch! All three special liveries on the one train. Thanks from across the pond in the UK. We may be in two different countries, sharing the same gauge of track, but such different practices.. Oh and Ferroequinologists are to be found almost anywhere there's a railway track.

Yes sir, thanks so much James for being a loyal supporter and for coming down to visit!
Really nice. There are now commercial models of these three locos available in HO scale!
Very nice video! Had a great chase of him from Yemassee, SC into Georgia two days later.
Very nice!! We've actually railfanned at Featherstone before! We caught him going north on Q410 also.

If you want to see "long" trains? Go west young man, 2, 21/2 miles long with engines scattered throughout. Quite a sight!

You made several thousand people happy and recorded a commemoration that should be remembered. Thank you!

Very good job ROWAN. Like the new style logo. You did look very tired. When you sleep do you count trains instead of sheep.
Killer catches, Rowan! 409 ended up passing me here in NC at about 2 AM, but was still worth seeing it!
Interesting that it takes 2 days to get from Philly to NC wow!
Those CSX locomotives look so cool i never seen those type of CSX i only saw those type of locomotives in norfolk southern.
