Body weight , Height and skin colour : traits controlled SOLELY by genes. Around 26th year body weight is fixed unless it is lessened by diabetes( in some), Thyrotoxicosis, TB , HIV or cancer. Weight depends on 60 genes. 2 broad categories: lean ( low subcutaneous fat: eg: Gandhiji, Lincoln, actor Prabhu Deva) vs Obese( Churchill, Prabhu : ) The dictum: Prabhu can never become Prabhu Deva : no role for diet and excercise. Lethika Saran, IPS was thinner than a pencil. How did she get into IPS..?? The omnivorous reader ALONE can clear IAS. My immediate senior in Kilpauk medical college, Dr Niranjan Mardi : classical example.
