Jocelyn’s been NAILING those landings!!! She’s so much fun to watch. Love the Gadirova’s too - this worlds is just an example of so much amazing gymnastics!!
Wow I didn’t realize but they’re super similar in terms of their dance execution it’s kinda crazy Joscelyn got hit with a whole point, I would say in the dance elements she had one or two more static seconds but a point is insane in my opinion. Both great routines, Joscelyn’s gymnastic execution was better for sure but Gadirova’s dance was just a bit more dynamic.
Their dance elements are also quite different. You can see Jocelyn isn’t quite hitting the positions in her leaps and hops as well. For example, in her hip full she is bent over forwards with loose knees and just barely at horizontal with her leg. Both of them bend their knee going into their tour-jete a bit, but Jess hits a better split shape

This feels like what has happened with UB in the past few years- certain skills and connections are so favorably scored that routine compositions become fixed and repetitive. Gymnasts only focus on training these specific set of skills, leading to a LOT of nearly identical (at least in tumbling passes) routines. And in the end, both originality and choreography suffer; We’re in the era of “do the most difficult tumbling you possibly can, even if form and execution suffers as a result, then throw in some poses and call it dance”

I have to agree with your statement on how there is so little originality any more...go back to the 1970-90's to see how interesting and original a lot (not all of course) of routines were. The variety of mounts and dismounts alone was quite amazing. And the dance was far more varied as well. Go back and look at the routines of Khokina or Podaptava and you will see what I mean. Svetlana Bogemskya is another very original and beautiful gymnast. I wish that the CoP awarded artistry & originality as well as execution like they used to.

I don't think she'll outscore her teammates for one thing to even make the finals. And she has a very low execution score which doesn't bode well for a medal.

I always thought that her legs do t stretch all the way straight but not being mean but i think shes bull legged. I noticed her run down the vault runway. I do like her routine though and she is super powerful❤

It’s smth she has worked on and has definitely gotten better over this season. I think what this side by side shows is that both gymnasts really on power and their routines really highlights their strengths. Cool video!

We’re used to seeing hyperextension in gymnastics so that may be why she doesn’t look like she has straight legs when she does. She seems to have a more normal range of motion versus most other gymnasts. Source: I have a genetic condition where hyper-extensible joints is a main characteristic
Then she should go do dancing as a professional. Executing the tumbling passes better should always trump “dancing” better. The ridiculousness of saying someone is more artistic and has better musicality (subjective much) is so annoying.

Yes. I noticed that taller gymnast or gymnast with longer arms and legs are called graceful yet shorter and more muscular gynmast like Simone and Jocelyn are not seen as artistic. Just body shaming haters . That's why they go nuts and hate when simone wins because she apparently does not have the 'right' body for the sport. These haters are still stuck in 1960s where skinny 😏👀 women used to dominate. They hate seeing strong beautiful women like simone and Jocelyn because to them it represents manliness instead of hard work and dedication. Now I do think Jocelyn can improve but the hate is too much. Poor girl.
Josc has got great landings, but her form in the air is horrible. Anything laid out makes me wince when I watch her. The landings are perfection, but her dance has zero extension or interest. She is very very tiny (4.8) and doesn't have hyperextension. Muscular for that little frame too. So even when she is fully extended it doesn't appear she is. I guess it is up to the judges what they see. Body type should not be a factor
People don’t seem to care about the fact her form falls apart in the air, as long as she sticks her passes she seems to be considered better than Jess. It also seems like standing and smiling for 10 minutes after each pass surpasses Jess’ constant, uninterrupted dance lol
I much prefer Gadirova's routine and execution. She's striking, and the choreography suits. The pink one is a bunch of hurried arm waving: awful choreography, and makes the gymnast seem dull.
