I love seeing the many different and unique styles that are the heart of gymnastics now. So many countries and so many different gymnasts succeeding, it used to be the same little girls doing the same movements over and over and over again. I celebrate the growth in gymnastics and the women who are competing and succeeding. They are bringing so much more to the sport now.
She has lovely lines, and good choreography that she leans into. Many other gymnasts jut kind of go through the motions of their choreography but i love how she is into it. She would make a great NCAA gymnast.
People defending the high score by talking about her qualities - yes I agree she’s talented and good, but that doesn’t explain objectively how this received an 8+ E score. I got 7.9 without being overly strict, others have gotten 7.8. Her artistic performance wouldn’t inflate that score; I didn’t take off for artistry, but it still doesn’t affect her other e-score deductions, especially on the second pass.

1 bad landing doesn't mean the whole routine gets marked down. Her leaps are pretty much faultless whereas all the other top contenders are losing loads there.
You're right... but a 3 tenth landing deduction for her chest below waist on landing, and the 3 tenth step/stumble is pretty big... Lots of deductions on her final tumbling run as well. Amazingly, I think her opening pass only deserves -0.2, it's a really really pretty Moors. Her gogean (besides the fact that it's getting downgraded for the incomplete turn) deserves a 3 tenth body shape error IMO for the way that she entirely cheats the beginning of the tour jete with a bent leg that never extends out before she switches. How her e score is higher than Leanne Wong with three stuck landings is beyond me. The judges seem to have a love affair with ignoring Jess’s form and landing deductions while coming down hard on other’s less egregious landing errors….

Leanne: 1 stuck landing, 2 solid landings, 1 bad landing, + all of them a bit low or short Jess: one solid landing, 1 bad landing, one with a visible hop, but first and third pass with chest up, + better hight on every element (including leaps), better form in the air, better artistry
There is no requirement that gymnasts do four tumbling passes. I don't think there ever has been. You very clearly don't know what you are talking about, so I recommend that you don't say mean things about an 18 year old gymnast online.
All of leanne's landings were not low! Yes, her double pike very clearly was short but her double double is landing better than anyone else's in the world.

With Jess, it would be very insulting to gymnastics, to the international judges from all countries from all over the world, to hear that every time they see a single gymnast they are purposely 'overscoring' her. You've educated us. Thanks again.
But they actually are over scoring her and she isn’t being held accountable for receiving all these benefits and acting like she won them herself. Jessica was a selfish cheater when they did this to her score last year and this year is the same

Absolutely stunning. This is what is meant by 'Artistic' Gymnastics. You can see the classical training, pointed toes & stretched knees with a gorgeous por de bras in her arms. The eyeline and expression is spot on and she finds the judges AND the camera. Also not forgetting her tumbling is very high on difficulty. For me, this is the whole package and should be taken as an example to coaches around the world.
The judges can’t keep continually getting this wrong surely?! It’s a well constructed artistic routine, and the international judging panel love this 🎉
Americans can't comprehend their style of gymnastics not being the highest scoring. They've had over 2 years of this code and they still haven't adapted.

For the first 75%, yes! She has to pike down very sharply to make it though. Jade still has the best Moors ever done in my opinion. Very slightly less perfect in the air, but also almost no pike down and landing very upright. I'm happy to call this 2nd best though!

You are not seeing Roberson’s bent knees, you’re not seeing her leaps which don’t even reach 150 degrees when they should be more than 180 degrees, you’re not seeing that choreography is NOT moving and waving your arms around like you’re trying to kill mosquitoes, you are not seeing the long pauses she does which disconnect her routine from the music, and many more. Actually her E-score shouldn’t have been more than 7.00, they were way generous with her
I think the lack of Russian gymnasts is distorting the idea of what artistry is. thank God Simone is back so there is no chance of this girl winning again... discounting too much for artistry in routines is literally an easier method of robbery , artistry is not the same for everyone, and when something is really good , everyone recognizes it ( Afanasyeva on fx in 2011, for example or even pavlova in 2008) no hate for gadirova but i really think she’s not getting the same treatment as others. it’s TOO much, you cant tell me this is in the same category of mustafina, pavlova, komova, even melnikova…

Artistic is not the same as ballet. I love the typical Russian style on the floor, but it's not the only way to be artistic. Even Melnikova and Listunova are not entirely balletic and have good artistic composition. The same with Gadirova, Andrade, Jones...
I grew up with the Russian style of artistry and I'm so happy to see something else. Gymnastics is powerful and dynamic and so much more interesting than it used to be because of all these different styles. I am so grateful for where we are today and the acceptance of other styles.

0.3 tenths on her first pass. at least 0.6 on her second. 0.5 on her third. 1.4 only for her tumblings and landings… not to count her leaps and some adjustments. her execution score here was supposed to be 8.0 and that’s being very generous…
Has been questionable way too long. It’s time to FIG come out with a statement and make us understand the way they are judging that routine. Will be the only way to stop rumours and misjudgment. No one can understand that score.

She got gold when Skinner got silver but most American internet fans hate Skinner so that was a good thing. Last year during AA she got first place in worlds, but she’s also a black girl, Shilese not that popular, while in floor she got third place. Jessica literally beat both Chiles and the reigning drool Olympic champion three times last year.

The quality and level of art is too low without RU and BELARUS participating. Such prizes should be marked and noted as "No Russia" for easy identification.
Anyone else who would have gymnastics like that would have only gotten 13.7. She screws up all the landings and the judges lift her to the sky. Soon she lands on her butt in all landings and gets 15,000.
She did have some facial expressions and stretch through some of the dance, but I’d take off for some leap ending positions and then she had a leap not at 180… idk that crazy pass landing should be a lot. I just don’t see this amounting near Simone. Nice wolf turns though.
Have to laugh last year people complaining she was overscored because of home court advange. This year different country so what is the reason this time. A routines excution in general is not just about stuck landings but a about the shapes in the air the leaps, the turns and so much more. So whatever she is lacking in landings accordimg to a lot in this feed she is obviously making it up in other areas.
I am sorry but I don’t think this coreography is that far from Roberson’s and I am not American. They both look random arms movement for me. Landings on Chusovitina and Double tucked were at least .3 each.

Shouldve scored 13.900 the judges are so lenient on those pike downs bent arms on her back handsprings leg seperations and flexed feet.

Artistic is not the same as ballet. I love the typical Russian style on the floor, but it's not the only way to be artistic. Even Melnikova and Listunova are not entirely balletic and have good artistic composition. The same with Gadirova, Andrade, Jones...
I grew up with the Russian style of artistry and I'm so happy to see something else. Gymnastics is powerful and dynamic and so much more interesting than it used to be because of all these different styles. I am so grateful for where we are today and the acceptance of other styles.
@@fernando_nunez0101 people are responding to me as if I care about the code, I literally said in my comment that I think it's exaggerated to take A LOT from artistry (I think people don't know how to interpret it) like, take 0.1 to 0.5 ( which i already think it’s too much) tenths, but almost 1.0 point? extremely dishonest, I don't want to know about the code or other people's opinions, it's MY opinion. I also think it's a little sexist to demand that all girls be exactly the same as the code requires, uniqueness is the mark of the human race.
i think for me and a lot of people, the best years of gymnastics in this new code were 2007-2016 … we saw a lot of beautiful routines and great gymnasts and the code was not so harsh on the athletes.
0.3 tenths on her first pass. at least 0.6 on her second. 0.5 on her third. 1.4 only for her tumblings and landings… not to count her leaps and some adjustments. her execution score here was supposed to be 8.0 and that’s being very generous…
Has been questionable way too long. It’s time to FIG come out with a statement and make us understand the way they are judging that routine. Will be the only way to stop rumours and misjudgment. No one can understand that score.
If this is artistic.... I don't wanna watch it anymore....people have gotten crazy with this biased artistry requirements who will be very easy to favour one or another.
Russian gymnastics is missing, yes....the old Russian style cannot be equaled nowadays..about Gadirova? She's just focusing on the CoP and she delivers.... artistically? Hell no.
I mean artistry is in the eyes of the beholder, Jess has expression and artistry, but yea the Russians are definitely missed. I still think afan’s 2012 floor is top 5 at least.

It's actually insane how most of the hate and heavy criticism is coming from Americans, yes her Chusovitina was BAD but the rest of the routine is very pristine, and unlike a lot of other gymnasts she has skills than she can actually DO, leaps and jumps that ACTUALLY SURPASS the 180, and ACTUAL choreography and artistry. If she outscores Simone in EF don't get mad
Yet Americans don’t hate Andrade, and she is just as “Artistic”. Simone is the goat, just deal with it.
@@bgreen5234Andrade did not beat any American αsses. In Tokyo Suni got first place while Andrade got 2nd. She got gold when Skinner got silver but most American internet fans hate Skinner so that was a good thing. Last year during AA she got first place in worlds, but she’s also a black girl, Shilese not that popular, while in floor she got third place. Jessica literally beat both Chiles and the reigning drool Olympic champion three times last year.

Anyone else who would have gymnastics like that would have only gotten 13.7. She screws up all the landings and the judges lift her to the sky. Soon she lands on her butt in all landings and gets 15,000.

She did have some facial expressions and stretch through some of the dance, but I’d take off for some leap ending positions and then she had a leap not at 180… idk that crazy pass landing should be a lot. I just don’t see this amounting near Simone. Nice wolf turns though.

Have to laugh last year people complaining she was overscored because of home court advange. This year different country so what is the reason this time. A routines excution in general is not just about stuck landings but a about the shapes in the air the leaps, the turns and so much more. So whatever she is lacking in landings accordimg to a lot in this feed she is obviously making it up in other areas.

or maybe people are just complaining about a code that is making WAG have more corrupt and arbitrary scores like RG. It's a beautiful routine artistically but its not like she's showing actual professional dancer artistry in this routine. But I won't be surprised if she defeats Biles despite Biles' superior difficulty and tumbling form just because she can smile and dance well for an artistic gymnast.

Not looked at the score for qualifications but I just know for a fact simone will be in first it's just a given at this point as much as I wish that wasn't true and there could be more competition for the gold, who knows maybe Jess can pull off keeping her title I think she's absolutely excellent
