Killer intro, man! And great breakdown! As far as I know, Malak was powerful and skilled in his own right, but he didn’t really have many good showings against other duelists. He was able to beat Bastila as a Padawan, but that was about it. Canderous and HK-47 also seemed to think pretty poorly of him, saying that terror was his main/only weapon rather than strategy or skill. Dooku however would not be afraid, and he’s one of the most skilled and powerful duelists of his era. He was able to defeat Yaddle (a Jedi master and member of the Council said to possess a similar affinity for the Force as Yoda during the High Republic) fairly easily as a Jedi himself. Once he became a Sith, he was capable of stomping Obi-Wan and Anakin in AOTC and fought very well against them late in TCW (even if he was eventually forced to retreat). He could also put up a decent fight against Yoda, the stated best duelist in the galaxy during the era. As you said, Dooku is also a very strategic fighter, able to analyze an opponent’s weaknesses and adapt accordingly. For Malak, a fighter specifically known for his strategic weakness, to be able to beat Dooku anyway, he’d have to be either vastly more skilled or vastly more powerful. Neither appears to be the case. In fact, I’d say Dooku takes the edge in both categories. One small correction to the video though. Djem So is actually an excellent counter to Makashi. Form II, while precise and elegant, does not have the kinetic energy to meet Djem So head-on. In the ROTS novel, Dooku himself thinks this and points to it as one of the reasons Anakin (arguably the most skilled user of Djem So in the era) was such a tough match-up for him. That said, Dooku is skilled enough to overcome this disadvantage against any opponent who is not on the same level of skill as himself. He was still able to defeat Anakin multiple times in TCW and even stalemate him in ROTS until Skywalker used the Dark Side. That should be enough evidence to show that Dooku would be more than able to keep up with, and even defeat Malak’s Djem So. Ultimately, it looks like Dooku is too skilled, too powerful, and too strategic compared to Malak. I’d say Dooku takes 9/10 fights between the two. Malak gets lucky, physically overpowers Dooku, and is able to capitalize on it 1/10 times.
Appreciate it sunyder 💯🙏 Yeah definitely noticed that when trying to find battles that show his skill. Only one that made sense to show was the one with Jarael though it was a spar. Yeah terror was definitely his biggest accomplishment. Yeah definitely i honestly didn’t realise hiw skilled he was. i knew he was great but his a literal genius especially with episode 10 season 6 of clone wars. Facts Malak definitely doesn’t have the strategic talent that dooku has. That’s a great correction that I’m going to look deeper at cheers for that. I was under the assumption that malaks brutality will ill equip him for the elegance that makashi presents. Thank you for that 💯 Yeah I liked the idea of the match up but theoretically dooku will have the upper hand no doubt. Thanks heaps again for your insights 💯🙏
@@kilran.starwarsYeah, the spar with Jarael was pretty applicable. He was able to disarm her with raw physicality, but she was able to outmaneuver him and win the spar anyway. I kind of doubt he’d even be able to disarm Dooku in the same manner, but even if he did, it likely wouldn’t constitute anything more than a temporary setback. Malak is kind of a difficult combatant to scale since, as far as I know, he really doesn’t have too many direct combat feats against other duelists, especially ones that make him look good. He defeated a Padawan Bastila, lost in a spar to Jarael, and lost to a weakened Revan even though Malak was amped by the Star Forge. Dooku on the other hand is one of the most accomplished combatants in the verse with great feats of power, cunning, and skill. No worries on the Djem So vs. Makashi comparison, it’s easy to draw the same conclusion you did. There are, at most, only a few sources that specifically mention how Djem So is actually a hard counter to Makashi. For examples though, TCW did a great job of portraying this. Savage Oppress was able to disarm Dooku by physically overpowering him, despite being an inferior duelist. In later seasons, Anakin consistently could get Dooku on the back foot in their 1v1s because of his physical dominance. Of course throughout these encounters, Dooku was able to come out on top anyway. Only until ROTS did Anakin have enough skill and power to match Dooku, despite his form advantage. Definitely an interesting matchup though!
Yeah it seems significantly more important to have that IQ. As much as Malaks fuel for power is a great asset dooku as you said has the skills required.

Its like ROTS palpatine vs ROTS Anakin Skywalker
Oooo I actually see what you’re saying here. If we contrast the skill set it would make sense.
Could've said Darth Tyrannus
Yeah you’re right would’ve sounded better but getting Malak to say Tyranus was a mission with the ai text to speech so just used Dooku 😅
Malak has more raw power and force potential but dooku has more iq and skill and hax
Yeah it seems significantly more important to have that IQ. As much as Malaks fuel for power is a great asset dooku as you said has the skills required.
Dooku bests malak
Yeah facts 💯 I think dooku would suit the old republic era imo definitely has the skill set.
Malak wins decisively without SF amp. SF Malak handwaves
Star forge is definitely a good factor to consider in the fight for sure 🔥
