@@poweredbygarri1 no your stupid lol the point is to sculpt the body, not eat like a tard and lift. Very precise sculpting. It isnt about how much you can lift or how healthy you are it's about looking like a walking greek statue.
Nick's Strength and Power thanks Nick for putting us out of our misery on that Question!!! But also thanks for all your hard work on your channel it really shows! And great to hear that you are also a Lee Priest fan....regards from a Lee Priest fan Downunder.
Dorian came in ripped as fxxk! Serious bubble gut came in later on and it's literally a tumour on the body politic of modern bodybuilding. It has to go if competitive bodybuilding is ever going reach mainstream status again We love Big Freaks - but without conditioning they are just ugly giant tubs of lard...
Dorian was ripped though. He was a mass monster, but definitely 'wasn't' holding his gut in like bodybuilders after him. I'd argue that Olympia peaked with Yates. And he could have won several more, but wisely retired on doctor's orders.
Awesome video. Excellent research and outstanding pictures. At 10:50 in my opinion is one of the most mind blowing pictures ever taken in bodybuilding. Thanks Nick for taking the time to put this together. We all appreciate the effort.
I absolutely hate the look of modern day mass-monsters. I feel like there's something profoundly unhealthy about the sport of bodybuilding. At least in it's current state.
After watching this video and many others, it's easy to see how and why your channel has become so respected by average people and popular people. Keep up the great work man.
Brilliant video nick. I salute you in the work you put in to give us this historic video. I think the picture of jay cutler with the 4 mr olympia win dates beside him, and him poseing is one of the best pictures ever. Man he just looks so so good. Great work nick.👌. Jay cutler at 10.50 picture is just fkn awesome.
This was well done. I've been following bodybuilding for 57 years and this was the best summary of the Mr. O I have ever seen. Thumbs up from me. I'm kind of interested in how this video gets a thumbs down from anyone that visits this channel.
You did good man, I’m not sure why this doesn’t have more views. Maybe I don’t understand TH-cam. Keep killing the informational videos. I need them. And I enjoyed them. So thanks bro.
Very well done Nick! A really great history in a nutshell and I'm sendin' it to my sons and their friends. It would be fantastic if you had to put a new name in there for 2018.
Ronnie coleman was ridiculous looking. That body just looks comical. His gut, his posture, the blockiness.... i’d say he was the least aesthetically pleasing olympia winner of all time.
1. Old-time Era (60s) 2. Greek-God physique Era, a.k.a. Golden Age (70s) 3. Retro Era (80s) 4. Mass Monster Era (90s) 5. Bubble Gut Era (2000 - onwards)
Notable Champions 1. Old-time Era - Larry Scott 2. Greek God Golden Era - Arnold Swarchzeneger 3. Retro Era - Frank Zane 4. Early Mass Monster Era - Doran Yates 5. Late Mass Monster Era (Early Bubble Gut Era) - Ronnie Coleman 6. Bubble Gut Era - Phil Heath
Imagine how many more Mr. Olympias Sergio Oliva would have between 1976-1983 if he was allowed to compete as he was racking up wins in the WBBG and NABBA. Hard to see Frank Zane, Colombu or Dickerson defeating Oliva.
Another great video Mr Nick. Keep up the great work boss. maybe soon you can put together vids on the Mr universe n of course the Mr America competitions. Just a thought. 👍👍
Notice in 5:22 how Frank Zane had the best triceps, the best separation between shoulders and biceps-triceps and arms overall. Compared to Mike Mentzer, Dennis tinerino if I'm not mistaken and Roger Walker. And he was not even at his best, he was "skinny" compared to 1979.
Great content, although I would do such a video in Part 1 and Part 2. Going by the feeling and your tradition to have nice short videos with on point topic.
That's the kind of video that sums up the history of olympia the perfect way possible in it's given time. Great job Nick. I recommend that video to enyone who wants to know about competitive bodybuilding at it's best and doesn't have time to spend in this enormous shithole of information called internet. Also mid to late 90's, what an era (golden era is a favorite too), what a line up! Dillet, Yates, Levrone, Naser El, Shawn Ray, the perfect combination of muscle mass and aesthetics anything more than that is rediculous in my opinion, that's why the post '00s are so controversial. Is it about bodybuilding or people who want to look like packed freaks... P.S. So exciting for the Arnold Classic!MCMillan, Bonac, Levrone, Wolf, Winklaar, Jackson. Already better than the Olympia...
Before, it was all about that V-shape, the lean physique.
Now, it's about mass

This is the kind of video you can just tell took an insane amount of time to make.
Silver Warrior Perfect comment. Beautifully done by Nick S & P
Silver Warrior ...it depends on how long you consider "an insane amount"
He done the reaserch already
Took a couple hours for sure

Nasser looked crazy. He is definitely underrated.
Kelly Brown GetFitWithKB yes!
Kelly Brown GetFitWithKB yep 👍
Politics and jews
That shot at 8:36 says it all....he should've won easily imo
and dead
I think the age of the mass monster started with DORIAN YATES
O G THIS is true though the GUTS have gotten bigger every year since

John Douglas I completely agree, Jay Cutler looked like the motherfucking hulk
I love how Nick talks like he was there when all this happened. I learn a lot from these videos, Thank you, Nick.
Please make more long videos like this!

Great work, Nick! Very thorough.
Yes, this video is narrated so well, big love Nick, kind regards Richard U.K

you should maybe look towards mens physique or classic physique competitions
Great informative post Nick. What it also shows is how much the BB physique has changed over the years. A complete transformation!
This video is to be saluted Nick

simply incredible the knowledge you have and research that you have put into your videos....
Samir Bannout's 1984 routine was amazing.
I can't believe the placing he received.
In my opinion 81 was a bigger robbery than 80. Padilla and Platz were light years ahead of Franco
Arnie still promoter and Franco's closest pal.
Platz has arguably the best legs in human history even when compared to Modern day competitors
Nice Job, Nick! Thanks for taking the time/effort on this!

Pause the video at 8:48 and study the absolute destruction of justice in that years Mr. Olympia.
