That would be the best option in the real world. As someone who used to have nothing, once I started making some money, I did what most people in this situation do, which is to spend it until you have nothing again and again. It actually took me a few years to teach myself that I don't have to spend money while I still have it, I can just save it and spend it properly. At least I learned that while I got small amounts, so the damage wasn't that bad.
This is why most people winning the lottery is considered a curse, because they're used to having very little and what they do have is specifically used to pay the bills or buy certain foods/clothes/things. Even if someone is humble, getting a huge amount of money so suddenly makes it highly likely to lose everything soon after for an indefinite amount of time.

I'm broke n yeah I agree that money is really important, but too much money might be a problem too. My uncle used to be a personal assistant of an old lady whose husband owned one of the biggest conglomerate in the country. The old lady was friends with my grandpa (our family was never rich but he was a bit famous) so uncle was pretty close to her. From what I heard she travels very often but she's never really happy. Her deceased husband had a mistress while making her busy with work and I don't really remember but I don't think the story abt her relation with her kids was that good. Her kids didn't get much attention when they're young cause she's busy n her husband too.

Because that's how she met my dad and knew that,he loved her, not her money. Still selfish of the dad to make his wife and kids suffer. With money, he could've put them in a better school, tutoring and opened so many doors since they would have a better background and education to get better paying jobs. Imagine seeing his kids get bullied, struggling to make ends meet, not able to get into a better school and not offering to pay for that at least. He just wanted to feel righteous. All he had to do was provide his family and teach them to work hard. For instance, he could have the money to put them in a good school, but they just have to ace the test and actually work hard for grades. Or whenever they needed new clothes or a car, he could've just taken them shopping at regular brand stores and bought a used car at least. Its just fucked.

I've experienced this as a young adult to a lesser degree. My family always lived fairly frugally and I always believed we were middle class at best but one day while me and my father were driving through some undeveloped lands that stretched pretty far in Korea where my family lives, he just CASUALLY goes: "we've been going through my land for a while now I should build something on it" Imagine my shock to be told it's worth tens of millions and the government's been pestering him about development plans which would see it soar too. Not a single hint or warning over the years that we were even remotely well off. Looking back I should have suspected things seeing the bank manager in Korea complete his normal every day transactions. I just thought he had a personal relationship with the manager at the time since he lived in Korea longer than he lived abroad.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssh. Anyone who says money dont buy happiness is a corrupt, entitled, perfect life due to parents, or some awful person that cant spend a lot of money wisely. For example all the lottery winners that win tons of money spend them on frivilous things.
If I won 10M, or more what would i need? I don't need a huge villa, I need a comfortable home that feels homey, some furniture, and since my hobbies are Gaming, a computer, a tv, a console, a big bed, and that wouldn't even amount to 1 million after that. Not even buying a decent car.
    Money is everything, runs everything.
I would still keep a job, donate to the homeless shelters, donate to medical science, and moderately to not run out of money.
Being rich would be the easiest thing in the world.
PS. I Know the narrator said it because of the movie meaning, so just saying movies like this to portray wealth not buying happiness is delusional 😂

Money solves some problems, but it really doesn't buy happiness. It takes a surprisingly short amount of time for you to get 'used' to not having to worry about money, and then it's no longer a luxury to have whatever material goods you want; even if you're spending sensibly. It's just normal life. And then what? Your family members still die, people you like still don't like you - unless it's for the money -, you still have to work to stay in shape, you're still comparing yourself to others - they're just in a different bracket to those you used to compare yourself to, you're still mortal and getting older. If you've earned the money, then you have to work too hard to enjoy it. If you've inherited the money, you never feel like you've earned it, and your life still feels dull and pointless: 'why should I work hard now?' I've never been starving, but I've been happier poor than rich.

    • @KeNsHoRt47

money can only buy material things, not true happiness that is free based on how you perceive it. that's the concept of that proverb

There’s such a thing as diminishing marginal returns. It’s a fancy term meaning after a certain point, more money will give less and less satisfaction. Even you noted that you only need 1 M to be satisfied. Most people after securing enough for necessities and some luxuries will be satisfied and content. Some actually are happy even without luxuries. I suppose money is a guard against unhappiness more than a means to gain happiness.

    • @robingroenbech3876
      @robingroenbech3876 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Happyness is different from person to person, but if you dont feel happy, knowing you are not finanically stressed, can take a day off, spend more time with a potential girlfriend, or wife, the kids, or other and not worry too much about life, or if you're lonely, not have to worry, you wouldn't have to worry about how others see you, and have more luck with finding partners, have more freedom to do everything.
Money buys you everything, it enables you to attain everything.
You could literally spend your life helping others, do good work and not have too many cares in the world. There is no downside to being rich.
      If only

I know coming from a family that isn't well off, the first paycheck I got, I spent on useless stuff that I always wanted and tried things that I wanted to always do. It takes time to figure out how to balance what you want and what you need. They grew up being bullied and cast away for being poor so of course when they saw that money they wanted to experience everything they weren't able to and they would need some time to adjust to not having to live penny to penny
